Let's take off the weight right away. The third season of Atypica was half a disaster. A TV series like this lives on the empathy that its protagonists are able to convey and above all the stories it manages to develop. Common stories, common feelings that in some way allow us to immerse ourselves in the characters and make us think. Sam's autism had been very useful in the first 2 seasons to tell the difficulties of a boy with autism in the daily jungle made up of classroom tasks, lunches, dinners, curricular and extra-curricular activities, loves, friendships and family. In the third season Atypical should have made the qualitative leap, freeing itself from the logic that was successful in the first season. Watching the third season, the writers have tried but with little success.

The focus has been shifted, even too blatantly, on Casey and his inner torment. Sam remained in the shadows, much in the shadows compared to his sister. An attempt to be admired but not very successful. Casey's choices seemed confused and not very linear. His emotional condition was complex, this is self-evident, but it was handled with superficiality and predictability. The consequences are all too forced, all very easy and extremely positive compared to what we could have expected. Situation strange and managed even worse with regards to the couple Doug / Elsa, struggling first with the breakup of their marriage, then with an attempted reconciliation, then again with an alleged implosion and so on. A little interesting and undeveloped swing. Even worse, Paige's storyline is handled, now a boring speck. And to make matters worse Zayid and a blatantly useless and poorly written storyline. A boy who loses his head for a girl to marry her in great secrecy and be given up 5 minutes before for no reason. All to justify a departure from Sam and a triumphant rapprochement. In all this chaos the only Sam is saved but is affected by the chaos built around him. In such a rich television scene it is unforgivable to miss such a season so blatantly. Many viewers risk getting away from a series they have loved. It will happen?
