About
This is not a film about music but it is all about the music! Well and the great story, excellent acting and twisted plot line! However to us this is a film all about the music. If you want to find out some more about it then head off to the IMDB https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110912/
Music
This is such a great introduction into some great music and you can find a playlist on youtube here and you can give it a listen while reading this post :
However lets have a look at a few of the great songs and how they were used and where they have come from.
Music Highlights
Tarantino sure knows how to pick a playlist for his films! He goes from absolute classics like Bill Withers, James Brown, The Doors, Dusty Springfield and many others to some more lesser known acts like The 5.6.7.8's or Dick Dale and his Del Tones. However in Tarantino's hands they all sound like classics. SO lets look at some of the Pulp Fiction music! I have tried to highlight a few that I have enjoyed listening to or discovering while doing this post!

Now I am going to start with the classic dance scene. It is to a classic Chuck Berry song which works so well with the scene having seen Chuck Berry play a few times I loved this song. The dance has now become an absolutely iconic movie scene.

Then you get to a more classic and subtle use of music. The famous royal with cheese scene has the song "Jungle Boogie" playing quietly underneath by the awesome Kool and the Gang!

Now the opening theme song sets the scene for the film so well! It is by Dick Dale and His Del-Tones, and is called 'Misirlou' I had to look them up and have a quick listen, classic surf music from late 50's and 60's.
Now if you want to hear more I have been listening to this and it is fabulous!

Now using this classic might have introduced a few new people to this classic song! Dusty Springfield voice really carries this along with the super cool backing track!

Now Bruce Willis singing this song just works. Flowers on the Wall by The Statler Brothers which again I had to look up to find more about. They seemed to have essentially discovered by Johnny Cash and sang a lot of Church inspired songs.
If you want to hear more, this is a nice playlist I found on Spotify and have enjoyed listening too!

Quick Review
Its a great film, if not a classic. The Rumours of how Quentin treated Uma on his films has put me off a little but that aside this is a genuine classic film made with style and panache!
Rating
9 out of 10 SUB masks IMDB gives it 8.9 out of 10 - this is incredibly high!
I love doing these posts as they make me explore lots of different music and finding some awesome sounds I have never heard. There is no better way for me to spend an hour or two!
Now go watch it or listen to it!
Big up the films
