A Time Bomb Is About to Explode, Atomic Blonde Review

Review by @strol · 2064d · of Atomic Blonde · 1 view

The story of this movie takes place in the world of spies during the Cold War period of the last century, when an undercover agent is sent by the British intelligence service to Berlin in order to retrieve a secret list of the names of double agents, and at the same time reveal the mysteries of the killing of another agent.

The movie is directed by David Leitch, who helped direct another movie similar to this, John Wick, and this explains the convergence between the two films in the way of directing, as if you watched the John Wick movie and liked it, then without a doubt you will enjoy this movie full of scenes Surprising combat.

The story of the film in general resembles James Bond movies in the plot of events, as it hovers around undercover agents who are sent to another country in order to retrieve something without causing a media fanfare but by illegal means. I think that this kind of story has become consumed in the last two years, as if your story is not impressive in the sense of the word, the film will be like any normal action movie, and this is what this film tried to do.

The smart directing method, which is represented in many things, such as choosing impressive professional shots, using long scenes without interruption in moments of combat, the external appearance of the film, which is the way the scenes are lit, where it was really wonderful, strange but unique music, great performance by the actors ... all of these things made the movie not look like a normal spy movie.

The aspect that is somewhat uninteresting in the movie is the story, as we have seen many films revolving around the same idea, but here the events were somewhat complicated to appear as an original story. For example, half of the events we do not experience sequentially from beginning to end, as the film's heroine tells it to us through her interrogation by British intelligence, we can say that it is a story with a non-linear narrative.

The second thing that the film suffers from is that the pace of events slows down at times, which makes the viewer somewhat bored. But as soon as events accelerate again, the movie is great until the end.

The other aspects that are, for example, the performance of the actors are considered on the level. The performance of the actress "Charlize Theron" in the main role and in the fighting scenes was excellent, as she was able to make you really believe that these scenes are real. As for the second character played by actor "James McAvoy", what struck me the most in the film, his performance for that character was very impressive, it was the thing I liked the most in this movie. The other French and Algerian actress, "Sophia Boutella", was also on the level, as she plays a French spy who also wants to extract a piece of this spy cake, but unfortunately she will get winds at the end of the movie!

The last thing we should point out is the fighting scenes that are the most surprising thing in this movie, as they seem to some extent real and brutal, and using the long scenes without interruption makes you more believable. This is the technique that many directors have recently relied on to make their films look more realistic, as it seems to you that one scene takes a long time without interruption for you to believe that this is true. But in reality, scenes like this are cut apart but integrated into the montage. This technique is accomplished by achieving a kind of balance between the shots in order to be easy to integrate into the montage and become like one scene.

In order to understand this technique well, you must watch the first movie that he used, as you will understand it in a primitive and simplified way in the movie Rope by "Alfred Hitchcock" which was released in 1948. You will know very well the concept of this technology and how it is used in combat scenes in contemporary films, which seem impossible to achieve But it is very simple.
