Hello all the lovers of the cinema! Like the vast majority, I grew up with fairy tales and one of the most memory of, was the story of the cat with boots. Over the years, I had the opportunity to see several versions of this character and when I saw that of Dreamworks, I was removed several memories of that time. I admit that the first film did not seem so entertaining, so when I learned that they had taken a second, I was not so excited. Although luckily, I do not usually give a verdict until I finished watching the movie. And I’m glad that my judgment works like that, since it allows me to realice that many times, the second parts are better.

In this opportunity, the cat with boots always reckless and justiciero, will be behaving like a hero and like all hero, fights against monsters that surpass people and why not? Sing and make a party for the villagers in his mansion, even if it is not his mansion really but that of Governor Delmar. Until in the middle of his feat, he loses his life … but we do not have to be alarmed, because the cats have nine lives. Although after the doctor / barber answers it and asked how many lives he has already lost, the cat with boots will meet the terrible truth that his last life is living and that therefore, the best he can do, is to withdraw from the heroic world. Terrible news for those who consider himself the favorite hero of all and whose lives, have been submerged in constant danger.

Unconforme with the doctor’s orders / barber, the cat with boots goes to a bar to drink some milk to put their ideas in order. It is then when in that lonely bar, a mysterious hoodie appears and with a meretical look that sits next to cat and says to be his admirer, asking him to sign a “look” poster. Convinced that it is a reward hunt, the cat with boots refuses and inevitably, it has ended up engaging a battle with the subject, who tells him that it is no other than death itself and that comes for his last life. Of course, the cat with boots does not refuse to the affront. In the middle of the wild confrontation, the unthinkable comes … The cat with boots experiences fear and against all odds, flees from the place leaving his sword.

Totally downward after the fight, the cat with boots decides that his defeat means death in his self as hero, so he decides to follow the orders of the doctor / barber and retire to a cat refuge. So after taking off his hat, his coat and his iconic boots, the cat with boots becomes called “pickles” and becomes a cat more in The refuge of Mama Luna. Thus, he spends his monotonous days just eating, sleeping and going to the bathroom like the other cats and a dog disguised as a cat that lives there of incognito. This dog is held with him and tries to become his friend, although it is clear that desire is not mutual.

Until a group of hunters appears, looking for it to hire it, they want to steal the map that takes them up to the star of wishes, a powerful place where an incredible magic is enclosed that is able to realice any desire. The cat then, is found with the possibility of being able to get all the lives he has lost, so he should put on his boots again and bet everything on this new adventure.

Undoubtedly, I enjoyed this delivery much more than the previous one, not only for the animation, which is certainly more fluid and striking, but by the new characters, since their personalities liked me a lot. The story, despite not being anything of the other world, is told in an entertaining way and the message of “assessing what we have and those with us”, I found it very beautiful. I recommend them.

¡Hola a todos los amantes del cine! Como la gran mayoría, crecí con los cuentos de hadas y uno de los que más recuerdo, era la historia del gato con botas. A lo largo de los años, tuve la oportunidad de ver varias versiones de éste personaje y cuando vi la de Dreamworks, se me removieron varios recuerdos de ese tiempo. Admito que la primera película no me pareció tan entretenida, así que cuando me enteré de que habían sacado una segunda, no estaba tan entusiasmada. Aunque por suerte, no suelo dar un veredicto hasta haber acabado de ver la película. Y me alegro de que mi juicio funcione de ese modo, ya que me permite darme cuenta de que muchas veces, las segunda partes son mejores.

En ésta entrega, el gato con botas siempre temerario y justiciero, estará comportándose como todo un héroe y como todo héroe, pelea contra monstruos que lo superan en tamaño, salva a la gente y ¿Por qué no? Canta y hace una fiesta para los aldeanos en su mansión, aunque no sea su mansión realmente sino la del gobernador Del Mar. Hasta que en medio de su hazaña, pierde la vida... pero no hay que alarmarse, porque los gatos tienen nueve vidas. Aunque luego de que el doctor/barbero lo atienda y le pregunte cuántas vidas ha perdido ya, el gato con botas se encontrará con la terrible verdad de que está viviendo su última vida y que por tanto, lo mejor que puede hacer, es retirarse del mundo heróico. Una noticia terrible para el que se considera el héroe favorito de todos y cuyas vidas, han estado sumergidas en constante peligro.

Inconforme con las órdenes del doctor/barbero, el gato con botas se va a un bar a beber algo de leche para poner en orden sus ideas. Es entonces cuando en aquel bar solitario, aparece un encapuchado misterioso y con aspecto tétrico que se sienta al lado de gato y dice ser su admirador, pidiendole que le firme un cartel de "se busca". Convencido de que se trata de un caza recompensas, el gato con botas se niega e inevitablemente, acaba entablando una batalla con el sujeto, quien le dice que no es otro más que la muerte misma y que viene a por su última vida. Por supuesto, el gato con botas no se niega a la afrenta. En medio del salvaje enfrentamiento ocurre lo impensable... el gato con botas experimenta por primera vez el miedo y contra todo pronóstico, huye del lugar dejando su espada.

Totalmente abatido luego de la pelea, el gato con botas decide que su derrota significa la muerte en sí de su yo como héroe, así que decide seguir las órdenes del doctor/barbero y retirarse a un refugio de gatos. Así que luego de quitarse su sombrero, su capa y sus icónicas botas, el gato con botas pasa a llamarse "Pepinillos" y se vuelve un gato más en el refugio de Mama Luna. Así, pasa sus días monótonos sólo comiendo, durmiendo y yendo al baño como los demás gatos y un perro disfrazado como gato que vive ahí de incógnito. Este perro se encariña con él y trata de volverse su amigo, aunque es claro que el deseo no es mutuo.

Hasta que aparece un grupo de cazarecompensas buscándolo para contratarlo, desean robar el mapa que los lleve hasta la estrella de los deseos, un lugar poderoso en donde se encierra una increíble magia que es capaz de hacer realidad cualquier deseo. El gato entonces, se encuentra con la posibilidad de poder obtener de vuelta todas las vidas que ha perdido, por lo que deberá calzarse de nuevo las botas y apostar todo en ésta nueva aventura.

Sin lugar a dudas, disfruté mucho más ésta entrega que la anterior, no sólo por la animación, que ciertamente está más fluida y llamativa, sino por los nuevos personajes, ya que sus personalidades me agradaron bastante. La historia, a pesar de no ser nada del otro mundo, está contada de una forma entretenida y el mensaje de "valorar lo que tenemos y a quienes estan con nosotros", me pareció muy bonito. Se las recomiendo.
