Hey everyone, @suisver here with a new post for the channel!

Today we'll be reviewing the movie

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (劇場版 呪術廻戦 0)(2022)

The movie begins when Yuta Okkotsu is cornered by some thugs; at that moment, Rika's cursed spirit activates and violently kills them. Immediately afterward, Yuta is taken to the Tokyo Magical Academy to help him control his power and the curse that haunts him.

At the academy, the bandaged teacher (Satoru Gojo) introduces him to three other mage students:

Maki Zen'in Toge Inumaki Panda

Soon, he's sent on his first mission alongside Maki to an elementary school where children are disappearing. There, Yuta is forced to react, consciously summoning Rika for the first time to save his classmates. At this point, Yuta decides to change: he no longer wants to hide, but rather learn to control this power to save lives and feel that he has a purpose.

The Mage Council (the higher-ups) wants to execute Yuta because of how dangerous Rika is, but Satoru Gojo intervenes and prevents them from harming him; he believes in Yuta's potential and wants to train him to become a special-class mage.

For his next mission, Gojo assigns him and Maki to a mission where Yuta begins to learn about her and her sad story of rejection. After this mission with Maki, Satoru assigns Yuta another mission with Inumaki and gives him a key instruction: not to release Rika abruptly, but to learn to channel her cursed energy through an object, in this case, a katana. During the fight, Yuta understands the nature of Inumaki's power—the Cursed Speech—and empathizes with him upon seeing the enormous effort he makes daily, communicating only with sushi ingredients so as not to harm anyone. Thanks to this connection and mutual respect, they manage to defeat the curses and complete the mission.

Later, Suguru Geto, an evil sorcerer and Gojo's former classmate, storms the academy with his group. His goal is to recruit Yuta to exterminate non-sorcerers ("shamans") and create a world exclusively for sorcerers. Yuta flatly refuses the offer, so Geto formally declares war: on December 24th, he will unleash thousands of curses on Shinjuku and Kyoto (the infamous "Night Parade of One Hundred Demons"). Geto departs, flying away on a gigantic curse, thus setting the date for the confrontation.

On December 24th, the great battle erupts. While most neutralize the attack in the city, Geto infiltrates the academy to take Rika's curse. There, he ruthlessly defeats Maki, Inumaki, and Panda. Seeing his friends gravely injured, Yuta awakens his full potential: he instinctively learns the Reverse Healing Technique to heal them and even demonstrates the ability to copy Inumaki's Cursed Speech technique. Upon noticing this, Geto's ambition to possess Rika becomes absolute.

While in the streets Gojo fights Miguel (the foreign sorcerer who uses the Black Rope), at the academy Yuta decides to make the ultimate sacrifice: he promises to give his soul and his life to Rika in exchange for her breaking all her limits to defeat Geto. With a devastating combined attack, Yuta defeats Geto once and for all.

Gojo intercepts a badly wounded Geto in an alley, where they have a final, revealing conversation about their past as best friends, before Gojo delivers the killing blow.

Shortly after, Maki, Inumaki, and Panda reunite with Yuta, safe and sound. Prepared to fulfill his promise and die alongside Rika, a profound revelation occurs: Gojo explains that Rika wasn't the one who cursed him on the day of his childhood accident, but rather that Yuta himself, unable to accept his death, trapped her and transformed her into a curse using his overwhelming ancestral power.

Upon understanding the truth and asking for forgiveness, the bond is broken. Rika's true human form reappears to bid him farewell in a deeply moving scene, thanking him for the six years they spent together and urging him to live his life to the fullest. Rika finally rests in peace, and Yuta is freed.
