A few days ago "The Midnight Gospel" premiered on Netflix, an animated series (or miniseries, I really don't know yet) for adults from the creators of Adventure Time, and yesterday, with a long time, I start to watch it. Watched it was not a difficult for me, since her only season has only eight episodes of 30 minutes each other and for my leisure that was a bit fast. I have not yet talked about Adventure Time around here, but the truth is that it seems to me one of the best works of animation that the United States has brought us in recent years, and upon learning that the series was by the same creators of time adventure, I did not doubt for a second to open Netflix and start watching it
Hace unos días se estrenó “The Midnight Gospel” en Netflix, una serie animada (o miniserie, la verdad aún no lo sé) para adultos de los creadores de Hora de Aventura, y yo ayer, con mucho tiempo, me dispuse a verla toda. Verla no fue algo difícil para mí, ya que su única temporada cuenta con solo ocho capítulos de media hora y para mi ocio eso fue algo rápido. Aún no he hablado de Hora de Aventura por aquí, pero la verdad es que me parece una de las mejores obras de animación que nos ha traído estados unidos en los últimos años, y al enterarme de que la serie era por los mismos creadores de hora de aventura, no dudé ni un segundo en abrir Netflix y empezar a verla.
Being from the creators of Adventure Time, I expected two things: self-closing chapters and bizarre situations. I can say with joy that I was right on both, but that the series is going beyond that, being an existentialist acid trip in an incredible way. The story follows Clansy, a human who bought a machine to travel between universes and interview random “people” to upload it to his podcast.
Al ser de los creadores de Hora de Aventura, me esperaba dos cosas: capítulos auto conclusivos y situaciones bizarras. Puedo decir con mucha felicidad que acerté las dos, pero que la serie va a mucho más que eso, siendo un viaje de ácido existencialista de una forma increíble. La historia sigue a Clansy, un humano que compró una máquina para viajar entre universos y así entrevistar a “personas” al azar para subirlo a su podcast.
The first chapter seemed great to me, but as I almost always believe with these animated series for adults, I thought “it is rude just for being rude”, and that is that the first chapter talks about the legality of drugs. Then things change and start to become more existentialist, and to meet people who talk about the meaning of life and beautiful experiences that make you laugh and give you a lump in your throat, all while you see incredibly fascinating things.
El primer capítulo me pareció grandioso, pero como casi siempre creo con estas series animadas para adultos, pensé “es grosero solo por ser grosero”, y es que el primer capítulo habla sobre la legalidad de las drogas. Entonces la cosa cambia y empieza a ser más existencialista, y a encontrarse a personas que hablan del sentido de la vida y de experiencias hermosas que te hacen reír y te darán algún nudo en la garganta, todo eso mientras vez cosas increíblemente fascinantes.
Everything seems really organic, as if it were actually a podcast. It is a difficult concept to understand until you watch the series, but each chapter is basically an interview or conversation between the protagonist and some entity on a topic that is not at all banal while his world and his surroundings gradually fall apart. Both the dialogue and the drawing is incredible, since it shows us an intergalactic journey that is worth thinking that you are seeing what you would see if you are high, and the truth is really incredible.

Es un concepto difícil de entender hasta que ves la serie, pero cada capítulo es básicamente una entrevista o conversación entre el protagonista y algún ente sobre algún tema para nada banal mientras su mundo y su alrededor poco a poco se va desmoronando. Tanto el dialogo como el dibujo es increíble, ya que nos muestra un viaje intergaláctico que es digno de pensar que estás viendo lo que verías si estas drogado, y la verdad, es realmente increíble. *
