Despite some negative comments and low ratings given to the Insidious movie series, it will always be one of my favorite horror films ever. Ever since I've watched the first movie more than ten years ago, I have fallen in love with the concept of astral projection. I remember reading some articles and books related to it back then. It's such an interesting concept for me and Insidious showed an amusing world about it.
Earlier this year, the 5th movie was released and I was finally able to watch it last week on Netflix. The final movie happened after a ten-year time skip when the once little boy Dalton became a university student. Prior to this, he and his father who are both capable of astral projection underwent hypnosis to forget everything that they have been through.
However, there's no secret that wouldn't be revealed... the memory, the trauma and their past journey to "The Further" slowly came back. The past brought Dalton and his estranged father back together, but in a quite unpleasant way. .
Another thing I like about Insidious is the funny element they include in the movies despite the numerous and effective jump scares. It was nice to see the OG characters from the first movie, too. My favorite characters are Elise and the duo Specs and Tucker. Although they weren't actually part of the main characters in the final movie, it made me delighted to see them even for a bit.
In addition to that, I love how art was incorporated in the movie this time around. Art is an expression of ourselves, more so, it's a reflection of the artist's deepest thoughts. It might be quite simple for most people, but the way they conquered their demons was impressive for me. Art can be a weapon... a weapon to conquer your inner demons. Oh well, you'd know what I mean when you watch the film.
You also need not watch the past movies to understand the latest and probably the final movie. However, watching the first two movies would be helpful to better understand it. The third and fourth movie were unrelated, but they were also interesting to watch... especially the fourth one since I love Elise, Specs and Tucker. *haha*
Anyway, let me leave INSIDIOUS: The Red Door trailer here below...
Despite it being a horror film, I felt very touched especially with the ending. It was so heartwarming and I just hope they'd finally find peace and that their family would be back together.
If I get the chance to spend time with my cousin Nicole, we have to have an Insidious marathon... For sure, she'd enjoy the last movie as much as I did.
Thanks for checking this post... until next time! (^^,)/
