A pesar de ser un nombre bastante conocido, no sé por qué llevarlo a la pantalla ha sido un poco confuso. Una película y una serie que no se relacionan completamente en nada, en el momento en el que la vi pensé que iban conectadas, pero luego terminé enterándome que la película protagonizada por Downey Robert Jr no tiene nada que ver con la aparición del increíble Benedict Cumberbatch en la serie producida por BBC. Recuerdo perfectamente cuando estaba paseando en Netflix y esta serie llegó a mi mirada, era un día de esos donde estaba completamente aburrido, ¿quién diría que sería una serie que terminé viendo más de 3 veces por lo increíble que era?

Estoy hablando de hace unos cuantos años cuando vi esta serie, pero hasta el día de hoy puedo recordar la mayoría de los aspectos relevantes que esta serie tuvo para ofrecer en ese momento, así que, en este post daré una mini review de Sherlock, todo el potencial que tuvo como serie y la capacidad que considero que tenía para alcanzar muchísimo más.

Mi opinión sobre el protagonista

Honestamente siento que Benedict Cumberbatch hizo un increíble trabajo haciendo el papel de Sherlock, todas las expresiones faciales, el carisma y toda la forma de actuar como tal fueron aspectos completamente increíbles que hicieron que Cumberbatch demostrara un increíble trabajo en cámara.

Desde mi perspectiva, considero que Cumberbatch es un actor que puede fácilmente hacer el papel de alguien intelectual, o al menos alguien que pueda representar un grupo o ser el líder de alguno. Solo miren su papel en Doctor Strange y díganme que realmente podría haber un actor que pudo haber hecho un papel mejor. Creo que no hay nadie más adecuado, ni para Doctor Strange ni para Sherlock.

A lo largo de la serie nos otorgan a un Sherlock indiferente e insensible, nunca he leído los libros así que realmente no sé mucho de la personalidad "original" o clásica del detective, pero a mí me gustó bastante el hecho de que fuera presentado como alguien que simplemente hace su trabajo de forma extraordinaria, aunque con una especie de personalidad bastante extraña, no me incomodó en ningún momento cosa que me suele ocurrir bastante con personajes "extraños" en series/películas.

El elenco

Bueno, el primer personaje que conocemos es Watson, pero obviamente este no es el protagonista, quiero decir, la serie se llama "Sherlock" y no "Watson", ¿cierto?

Estoy 100% seguro de que Watson aparece en los libros, he visto muchísimas referencias de este personaje antes de ver la serie, y su añadido en esta serie a pesar de haber sido algo clásico y fiel a sus principios. Ver a Martin Freeman aquí fue algo raro al principio, su rostro se me hacía un poco familiar por su pequeña aparición en Black Panther, no pensé que podría ser un actor principal en una serie, y aún así hizo un excelente trabajo.

El resto de actores los considero personajes secundarios, pero el más resaltante de estos fue Mycroft Holmes interpretado por Mark Gatiss, otro personaje bastante resaltante a mi parecer ya que es hermano de Sherlock y también es super inteligente, cada personaje inteligente en esta serie es bastante interesante.

Hay muchos personajes que le darán vida a esta serie, a mí me atrajo bastante el lenguaje interesante que se utilizaba en la serie y las escenas donde Sherlock o cualquier personaje "inteligente" hacía comentarios que añadieran información realmente interesante a la trama o simplemente dieran a demostrar su supremacía intelectual. El más "normal" de entre todos estos personajes es Watson y aún así logra no quedarse atrás a la hora de llamar la atención en la serie y también increíblemente aporta bastante a la trama.

Lo que no entiendo es cómo dejaron los traumas post-guerra que sufría Watson, al principio lo muestran como una persona asistiendo al psicólogo debido a todos los traumas que tuvo después de la guerra, algo que fue completamente olvidado a lo largo de la serie. Si mal no recuerdo, la serie intenta justificar esto diciendo que debido a que se mantiene en frecuente acción gracias a la "hiperactividad" de Sherlock él logra mantener sus problemas psicológicos atrás. Pero estoy completamente seguro de que esto no está ni remotamente cerca de algo realista.

Hago énfasis en el realismo ya que esta serie hace uso de la lógica, o al menos esa es su intención. Entonces no entiendo por qué dejarían pasar un detalle tan obvio, no era necesario añadir un detalle que al final terminaría siendo olvidado y dando un pequeño hueco en la historia. Pero nada importante de todos modos.

El antagonista

Sin duda alguna, uno de los mejores actores que he podido ver en mi jodida vida. Andrew Scott.

Este actor es para mí una de las mejores aportaciones que esta serie pudo tener, no es simplemente por el guión que le fue otorgado, básicamente toda su actuación y la forma en la que se mete en el personaje es simplemente increíble, no hay nadie mejor que este actor y estoy completamente seguro de esto.

Jim Moriarty es el antagonista principal de mayor parte de la serie de Sherlock, me gustaría describir a fondo de por qué tiene tanta relevancia en la historia, pero me preocupa dar un spoiler sin querer. De todas formas, Jim Moriarty es básicamente la mente contraria a Sherlock, alguien que está compitiendo contra él y que tiene una mente muchísimo más perversa e igual (por no decir mayor) de inteligente que la de su contrario.

No tengo muchas palabras para describir a este actor y el papel que le fue otorgado, de verdad el trabajo hecho por él fue INCREÍBLE y no hay nada mejor que las escenas y los giros que da a la trama cada aparición que hace, no simplemente transforma completamente la trama siendo el villano, sino que también hace que apreciemos este personaje a pesar de ir en contra del protagonista. De no haber sido por este personaje, la serie no hubiese sido ni la mitad de buena.

Recomiendo ver este video con discreción, pues, puede contener spoilers, pero es una muy buena forma de ver el trabajo realizado por este actor.

Conclusión

Sherlock es una de las mejores series que he podido ver en toda mi vida, fue un lavado de cerebro directo que me hizo dudar de todo, no saber en quién creer y sobre todo, disfrutar cada instante de la serie. Hay muchísimo más que pude haber contado, pero no quiero dar spoilers o algo similar, así que hey, hasta aquí esta reseña sobre Sherlock.

Despite being a fairly well known name, I don't know why bringing it to the screen has been a bit confusing. A movie and a series that are completely unrelated in anything, at the moment I saw it I thought they were connected, but then I ended up learning that the movie starring Downey Robert Jr has nothing to do with the appearance of the amazing Benedict Cumberbatch in the series produced by BBC. I remember perfectly when I was cruising Netflix and this series came into my eyes, it was one of those days where I was completely bored, who knew it would be a series that I ended up watching more than 3 times because of how amazing it was?

I'm talking about a few years ago when I watched this series, but to this day I can remember most of the relevant aspects this series had to offer at the time, so, in this post I will give a mini review of Sherlock, all the potential it had as a series and the capacity I believe it had to achieve so much more.

My opinion about the protagonist

I honestly feel that Benedict Cumberbatch did an amazing job playing the role of Sherlock, all the facial expressions, the charisma and the whole way he acted as such were completely incredible aspects that made Cumberbatch demonstrate incredible on-camera work.

From my perspective, I consider Cumberbatch to be an actor who can easily play the role of someone intellectual, or at least someone who can represent a group or be the leader of one. Just look at his role in Doctor Strange and tell me that there really could be an actor who could have played a better role. I don't think there is anyone better suited for either Doctor Strange or Sherlock.

Throughout the series we are given an indifferent and insensitive Sherlock, I have never read the books so I really don't know much about the "original" or classic personality of the detective, but I quite liked the fact that he was presented as someone who simply does his job in an extraordinary way, although with a kind of strange personality, it didn't bother me at any time, something that usually happens to me with "strange" characters in series/movies.

The cast

Well, the first character we meet is Watson, but obviously this is not the main character, I mean, the series is called "Sherlock" and not "Watson", right?

I'm 100% sure Watson appears in the books, I've seen many, many references to this character before watching the series, and his addition in this series despite having been somewhat classic and true to his principles. Seeing Martin Freeman here was a bit weird at first, his face was a bit familiar to me from his small appearance in Black Panther, I didn't think he could be a lead actor in a series, and he still did an excellent job.

I consider secondary characters to the rest of them, but the most outstanding of these was Mycroft Holmes played by Mark Gatiss, another character quite outstanding in my opinion since he is Sherlock's brother and he is also super intelligent, every intelligent character in this series is quite interesting.

There are many characters that will bring this series to life, I was quite attracted to the interesting language used in the series and the scenes where Sherlock or any "intelligent" character would make comments that would add really interesting information to the plot or simply demonstrate their intellectual supremacy. The most "normal" of all these characters is Watson and yet he still manages to not fall behind when it comes to getting attention in the series and also incredibly contributes quite a bit to the plot.

What I don't understand is how they left the post-war traumas that Watson suffered, at the beginning they show him as a person attending the psychologist due to all the traumas he had after the war, something that was completely forgotten throughout the series. If I remember correctly, the series tries to justify this by saying that because he stays in frequent action thanks to Sherlock's "hyperactivity" he manages to keep his psychological problems behind him. But I'm absolutely certain that this is nowhere near anything realistic.

I emphasize realism since this series makes use of logic, or at least that is its intention. So I don't understand why they would let such an obvious detail pass, it wasn't necessary to add a detail that in the end would end up being forgotten and giving a small hole in the story. But nothing important anyway.

The antagonist

Without a doubt, one of the best actors I've ever fucking seen in my life. Andrew Scott.

This actor is for me one of the best contributions that this series could have had, it is not simply because of the script that was given to him, basically all his acting and the way he gets into the character is simply incredible, there is no one better than this actor and I am completely sure of this.

Jim Moriarty is the main antagonist of most of the Sherlock series, I would like to describe in depth why he has so much relevance in the story, but I'm worried about giving a spoiler unintentionally. Anyway, Jim Moriarty is basically the opposite mind to Sherlock, someone who is competing against him and who has a far, far more wicked and equally (if not more) intelligent mind than his opposite.

I don't have many words to describe this actor and the role he had, truly the work done by him was AMAZING and there is nothing better than the scenes and the twists he gives to the plot every appearance he makes, he not only completely transforms the plot by being the villain, but also makes us appreciate this character despite going against the main character. Had it not been for this character, the series would not have been half as good.

I recommend watching this video with discretion, as it may contain spoilers, but it is a very good way to see the work done by this actor.

Conclusion

Sherlock is one of the best series I've been able to watch in my entire life, it was a direct brainwashing that made me doubt everything, not knowing who to believe and above all, enjoying every moment of the series. There is so much more I could have told, but I don't want to give spoilers or something similar, so hey, this is as far as this Sherlock review goes.
