I haven't cried watching anything since This is Us (that series that even I already wrote around here. I had forgotten how good it felt to be moved by something we watched. most of MAID's tears are half anguished tears, of a lonely observer who sees the suffering in the life of a young mother who is on a journey of liberation, but who cannot act for her, all he can do is watch her. Even though I'm not a woman, I created an identification with Alex, the protagonist, because like her, I have a young daughter and I know how complex the life of someone with a young son is, in addition to all the financial concerns, the lack of time, the desperate job search, dealing with basic problems like gas money, food, clothes, anything and everything.

The series is short and you will observe all phases of this journey of suffering and overcoming of Alex and his daughter with an amazing editing, a very well done direction, great acting and a beautiful and very well selected soundtrack. The density of the real drama experienced by her in some of the episodes and the analogies that the series presents to the viewer (like rock bottom for example) is very intense and harrowing, but in a way that you know you need to see until the end, not just because it's done well, but because you need to know that the situation will turn out well, and that you don't want anything less. In the midst of all this Alex still has to deal with his mother, with clear psychological disturbances and all the concern to take care of her and her outbreaks.

In many moments you will come across a female version of "I, David Blake", buried in bureaucracy and complications to solve basic issues such as housing, survival, need for opportunity, etc. The series manages to tackle numerous socially important topics without being pedantic and without any annoying attempts at sealing. And furthermore I must remember that the series was based on real facts, mixing the facts of the author of MAID (the book) with some very real fictions of the daily lives of many women who go through similar things. I hope this review has spurred you on to watch, if you haven't already. I guarantee you will not regret it.

Eu não chorava assistindo algo desde This is Us (aquela série que inclusive eu já escrevi por aqui. Havia esquecido como era boa a sensação de se emocionar com alguma coisa que assistimos. O fato é que a maioria das lágrimas de MAID são lágrimas meio angustiadas, de um observador solitário que vê o sofrimento na vida de uma jovem mãe que está em plena jornada de libertação, mas que não pode agir por ela, tudo que pode fazer é observá-la. Mesmo não sendo mulher, eu criei uma identificação com Alex, a protagonista, por que assim como ela, eu tenho uma filha pequena e sei como é complexa a vida de quem tem um filho pequeno, além de toda a preocupação financeira, a falta de tempo, a busca desesperada por um emprego, lidar com problemas básicos como dinheiro pra gasolina, comida, roupas, tudo e qualquer coisa.
[Source](https://mixdeseries.com.br/a-historia-real-que-inspirou-maid-serie-da-netflix/)Alex passa pela experiência de criar consciência da urgência em sair da vida que levava com seu marido/namorado (um jovem que estava iniciando sua jornada alcoolista e começando a dar sinais de alerta quanto ao perigo de se tornar uma pessoa violenta fisicamente), quando ela decide sair de casa no meio da madrugada com sua filha no colo e sumir dali nem sabe para onde ir ou o que fazer, até que acaba encontrando ajuda em um refúgio para mulheres que sofreram violência doméstica, ainda em fase de negação por achar que seu problema não era nem de perto comparado ao das mulheres ali presentes (já que não tem marcas visuais, apenas mentais) ela demora para ver a situação com sua real gravidade. A série é curta e você observará todas as fases dessa jornada de sofrimento e superação de Alex e sua filha com uma edição incrível, uma direção muito bem feita, atuações de ótima qualidade e uma trilha sonora belíssima e muito bem selecionada. A densidade do drama real experimentado por ela em alguns dos episódios e as analogias que a série apresenta ao expectador (como o fundo do poço por exemplo) é muito intenso e angustiante, mas de uma forma que você sabe que precisa ver até o final, não só por que é bem feito, mas por que você precisa saber que aquela situação irá acabar bem, e que você não quer nada menos que isso. Em meio a tudo isso Alex ainda precisa lidar com sua mãe, com nítidos distúrbios psicológicos e toda a preocupação em cuidar dela e de seus surtos.
[Source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUA4JRs31uU)O filme consegue abordar a submissão feminina em situações de risco de uma forma muito emocionante e mostrar também a jornada de cuidado e ajuda dos refúgios para mulheres abusadas, que são uma espécie de luz no meio da escuridão burocrática que consome toda a dificuldade em resolver qualquer problema através da lei. Em muitos momentos você se deparará com uma versão feminina de "Eu, David Blake", afundada em burocracias e complicações para resolver questões básicas como moradia, sobrevivência, necessidade de oportunidade, etc. A série consegue abordar inúmeros temas importantes socialmente sem ser pedante e sem nenhuma tentativa irritante de lacração. E além disso devo lembrar que a série foi baseado em fatos reais, misturando os fatos da autora de MAID (o livro) com algumas ficções bastante reais do dia a dia de muitas mulheres que passam por coisas semelhantes. Espero que essa crítica tenha lhe instigado à assistir, caso ainda não o fez. Garanto que não irá se arrepender.
