Yesterday, I was just sitting with the remote in my hand, looking for some content on Netflix. That is when I discovered a new "movie" or whatever you want to call it titled Death to 2020. I also noticed that actors such as Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Grant were in it, so I decided to give it a try.
Death to 2020, is a show giving a satirical view on the year 2020. It sums up the most important events, and just like we have seen with John Oliver (a US talk show host), the point is to show how tragic the year has been.
Just before I wanted to write this little review, I discovered another online review considering this to be entirely tragic. Well, I have got to say... I do not agree!
This made me smile thinking of 2020
It feels strange to watch it, and actually notice that 2020 started with giant fires in Australia. It feels so far away and so distant, but it actually happened this year. But, the subject quickly turned to the topic that has been the leading this entire year, COVID-19.
However, we also hear about how Meghan Markle and Prince William left for Canada, and there is also a lot of focus given on the Presidential election in the USA. Of course, all seen from a humorous point of view, and Lisa Kudrow is doing great playing the role of someone representing the White House. She says one thing, and in the next second, she totally denies saying it.
Hugh Grant is playing the role of a professor who tries to play an intellectual, but somehow always refers to events from Game of Thrones and Star Wars as real historical events. I found it to be quite amusing!
The one thing I strongly disliked in the show was the character of Queen Elizabeth. She was just terrible, boring, and she only gave me a reason to smile when she kind of on purpose couldn't say the name of Meghan Markle...
All in all - Death to 2020
It has been a terrible year, and we all know... one of the best ways to get through hardships is by humor (and MEMEs). So, this is just yet another try to help us cope with the year behind us, and hopefully, make us ready for a new and better year!
