I remember watching a Netflix clip in December 2021 in which they told me that they would release one new great movie each week on their platform in 2021. They showed clips from several movies, and one of those actually caught my attention, and that made me feel like I really looked forward to watching it was I Care A Lot. Now it has been released, and I was quick to stream it. After all, with COVID and isolation, you don't get many chances to "party", so when a new movie is released on Netflix, your home turns into a cinema and you try to enjoy the time, just as if you would have been going to the cinema!
So, now I have watched I Care A Lot, and I had a great time. It is impossible to watch the movie without reacting in some sort of way. It is almost disgusting in its story, but that is also what makes it so great.
Three fantastic characters!
First of all, we meet Rosamund Pike who plays the role of a guardian. She finds people in poor condition with nice houses and money, and then cooperating with a local doctor and more, she takes custody of these people, sends them into homes for the elderly, while she sells their belongings, and takes out a very high salary while doing so. What she is doing is really disgusting, but in a movie like this one, it is still a fantastic character.
The second character that I truly enjoyed was Dianne Wiest in the role as Jennifer Peterson, one of the "victims" as Marla Grayson (Rosamund Pike) comes and suddenly takes control of the lady, her house, her belongings and everything. She is so amazing in her role, and even when she is sedated, she is able to smile and play a really cool old lady.
The third character is played by Peter Dinklage (Roman Lunyov), the unknown son of Jennifer Peterson. When his mother disappears, he gets really angry, and he is doing everything in his power to get his mum back. Of course, this surprises Marla Greyson, and soon a war is starting between them.
These three characters in the movie are simply amazing. Of course, I really disliked the deeds of Marla Greyson, but I have to admit that she still had an amazing character in the movie.
Throughout the entire movie, I was hoping for the mafia guy (Roman Lunyov) to get rid of Marla Greyson, and it felt strange cheering for one bad guy against another bad guy (lady), but that was the way the movie was.
Is I Care A Lot worth watching?
This is a mixture of a comedy and an exciting movie. I truly enjoyed it, and it gave me everything I had hoped for, and maybe even more. While being disgusting considering the deeds of Marla Greyson and her companions, it still brought forth a reaction, and the acting of Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage was really something I appreciated.
All in all, I really enjoyed the movie, and it was one of the best movie experiences I have had so far in 2021 (hasn't been to many movies yet, so not that hard to end up high on the list). Still... I can warmly recommend it!
