Last week, I wrote a Mulan review. If you read that, you might remember that we often watch movies with our kids, making it what we call isolation-cinema. Last week, we watched Mulan and the kids loved it. As a result, they really desired to watch Mulan II. I didn't look forward to it, but I decided to let the kids decide and to give it the benefit of the doubt. After all, there have been a couple of decent successors to animated movies, like Shrek 2, Ice Age 2, and so on. But, let me just give it to you straight away - this was terrible!

Mulan II - a crappy love story!
The second movie in the Mulan series is what I just call a crappy and boring love story. There isn't even a proper enemy, meaning that my kids were waiting in vain for an enemy that would bring some action to the movie. Of course, there is an enemy (the Mongolian army), but to hinder a battle, the Chinese Emperor has decided to send his three daughters as a peace offering so that they can get married to the sons of the Mongolian leader, and thus bring peace (instead of war). Mulan and his soon-to-be husband have to lead the daughters to the Mongolian leader within three days, if not, a war is at hand.
But, Mulan isn't the kind of girl who is fond of arranged marriages. So, this is actually the main story of the movie, how the three daughters fall in love with their guards and want to experience real love (and not an arranged marriage), and how the little dragon Mushu tries to separate Mulan from her true love.

I would love to give you some more juicy storylines, but that is it. This is incredibly easy to predict, and just amazingly boring. I don't understand how they can manage to make movies so boring. Even though it is a love budget production, they could still manage to create an interesting story, couldn't they?
In other words, Mulan II made its way to the long list of terrible successors of awesome first movies... as a simple step to make some more money from a success story. I wish they'd stopped before ruining it all.
My Mulan II score: 2/10
So, what do you think? Have you ever seen this movie? How did you like it? I would love to hear your thoughts.
Mulan II (and Mulan) cannot be found on Netflix at all, but if you live in a country with Disney+, then that is a platform where you can find this movie.
Thank you for reading!
