Sentinelle is the name of a brand new Netflix original movie that was released a few days ago. I like action movies in which there is a person with amazing skills hunting down bad guys, so I decided to give this movie starring Olga Kurylenko a chance. I deeply regret that decision!
The story of Sentinelle is a very standard story, and it reminded me a bit of the Taken movies. Just so much worse.

What is Sentinelle about?
In the movie, we meet a girl who has awesome skills and is a great soldier. But, as she returns home to France, she is having deep trouble and has to take some drugs in order to cope with life. She is regularly out walking the streets, but she doesn't manage to live a normal life.
One day she goes to a party with her sister, and the day after, the sister is in a coma due to injuries after being raped. That is when the vendetta of our soldier starts... and the misery of the movie continues!
The first 20 minutes were incredibly boring, but I always hoped that it would improve once the true story is revealed. I was wrong!
The private vendetta is a tragedy
The movie reminded me of a tragic movie for which Leonardi di Caprio received an Oscar... The Revenant. I hated the movie, first of all, because it was all about revenge and hatred. And that is true about this movie as well. She forgets all about law and order, and she just takes justice into her own hands and blinded by a kind of hatred and a goal of taking revenge, she does everything she can to get rid of the ones who tried to kill and hurt her sister.
Of course, there is a reason why she takes it into her own hands... she doesn't trust the legal system, and she believes that the perpetrator will go free anyway. And in the end, she was right about that.
But, still... this could have been a great movie, even though it is a very predictable movie and a story we have seen a hundred times before. I was absolutely willing to give it a chance, but it didn't help. This was just so bad!
My Sentinelle score: 3/10
