Yesterday, I finally had the chance to go to the cinema again. There weren't many movies to chose from, so I had to decide between Free Guy and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The choice was easy, especially considering that I have read quite a lot of poor reviews about Free Guy, and the fact that I have read several good reviews about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

I am a fan of Ryan Reynolds, but that is the only thing that made me curious about Free Guy. However, I went with the Marvel universe, and I am happy that I did.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Watching the movie felt a little bit like bringing Jackie Chan into the Marvel universe. We meet Shang-Chi, a boy who grew up with a fantastic mother, and a father owning ten rings that made him stronger and mightier than anyone. But, the mother managed to change the father... and thus they got married, got two kids, and lived happily together. However, when the mum died, everything changed, and the father turned back to his dark life. The kids didn't like it, and they both escaped from home.
That brings us to the present day in which Shang-Chi is living his happy days in San Francisco until he is attacked on a bus by people sent by his father. And that is when the action starts!
What I really liked about the movie?
I really liked the fact that it is funny. It reminds me a bit of Thor. The creators of the movie added two characters, just for fun, to make it easy to watch and to give us some laughter all throughout the movie.
Awkwafina plays the role of Katy. She is the friend of Shang-Chi, and she is the one always coming with a funny comment, and who doesn't really fit into the kung-fu world. However, she is absolutely a necessary part of the movie, and I greatly enjoyed her presence. And then you have Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery. He is just hilarious in his role, and he is also bringing forth laughter and a smile on your face whenever he shows up.
The thing is, most movies are created without this humor, and that is why they can often become a little bit boring. But, Shang-Chi is mixing action with humor, making it a little bit Samuel L. Jackson style, or maybe like Thor, and that is something I greatly enjoy!

What about the plot?
The plot itself is entirely fine. It is interesting, but nothing superb that you haven't heard of before.
However, all in all, I had a great time in the cinema, I ate my nachos, drank my Pepsi, and laughed, I relaxed, and I had a great time. What more can a man wish for when he goes to the cinema?
My score: 8/10
Have you seen the movie? How did you like it? How is it compared to the other Marvel movies that you have seen? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Where can I stream Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings?
A few months ago, Disney+ released the movie Black Widow on Disney+ on the same day as it was released in the theatres. They did not do the same with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, meaning that this movie is currently only available in cinemas. But, they have shortened the time before it will be released on Disney+ and other Video on Demand services, meaning that I believe it might arrive to Disney+ before the end of October.
But, if you are in a hurry, go to the cinema - I believe you will have a great time!
