Stay Close on Netflix -> Is it worth it?

Review by @unbiasedwriter · 1609d · of Stay Close

I have been living in a void recently, meaning that I haven't really found anything to watch on Netflix. But, recently I decided to give the limited series Stay Close a chance, based on the story written by Harlan Coben. This is an author that has sold the rights to 14 of his books to Netflix, and so far, five of those have turned into different Netflix limited series. And based on what I experienced with Stay Close, I am now looking forward to giving the rest of the series a chance (The Stranger, The Woods, The Innocent, and Gone for Good).

What is Stay Close all about?

A detective is set on a case after a boy has disappeared after a carnival on a party place. The interesting thing about the case is that he had a similar case 17 years earlier (on the same date). Now he is starting to investigate the case, and it is getting more and more interesting as the eight episodes gets closer to the end.

There are several stories we get to know at the same time in Stay Close, and while it might be a bit chaotic at the start, you quickly understand the different characters and how they are woven together in this intricate story.

Stay Close finally made me look forward to the evening and streaming on Netflix once again, because I was really curious to find out how the story would come to an end.

In addition to DS Brooms, the main character is the wife Megan Pierce, who lived a quite different life before she met her fiance with whom she is preparing to get married. But, when the investigation starts, and there are rumors about a man who herassed her earlier (whom she thought to be dead) showing up again, her life is also turned around.

SHould you watch Stay Close?

I must say that I enjoyed this series. It was interesting, it was hard to predict, and it kept me on the edge, without getting to intense. It wasn't the best I have seen, but after having a couple of months in which I haven't seen much TV series or movies worth writing about, this actually came as a breath of fresh air to me!

I feel a little bit bad because I just wrote about this myself. To me, it moved very slow and this might be great for some people out there but to me I found myself frequently bored and looking at my phone a lot. I'm just happy that it was a limited series so that they put in as little filler as possible.
