Brand New Cherry Flavor es una serie de terror (con un poco de drama y un poco de comedia o más bien, momentos wtf) que consta de 8 capítulos con una historia bastante particular y poco común, llena de acontecimientos extraños y... muchos gatos. Esta serie es como yo imagino que debe ser consumir psicotrópicos, es una locura total, pero me encanto (ja, ja, ja) y aquí les cuento por qué.
Brand New Cherry Flavor is a horror series (with a bit of drama and a bit of comedy or more like, wtf moments) that consists of 8 chapters with a very particular and unusual story, full of strange events and... lots of cats. This series is like I imagine it must be to consume psychotropics, it's a total madness, but I loved it (ha, ha, ha, ha) and here I tell you why.
La serie está ambientada en los años 90 y tiene como protagonista a Lisa Nova, una aspirante a cineasta bastante particular que tiene sus ambiciones y una de ellas es lograr que se lleve al cine una película corta en la que lleva trabajando. En su travesía conoce al productor Lou Burke, quien le promete convertirla en una gran cineasta y producir su película, pero Lou no es alguien honesto y las cosas no salen como se supone debían, por lo que Lisa decide vengarse recurriendo a la ayuda supernatural que Boro (una excéntrica mujer-ser que Lisa conoce en una fiesta de famosos) le ofrece. Lisa, apoyada por Boro, decide lanzar una maldición a Lou y a partir de ahí todo se sale de control.
Lisa está cegada por su deseo de venganza, eso hizo que no pensara bien en que se metía cuando se entregó completamente al plan de Boro, pero más pronto que tarde se daría cuenta de las extrañas consecuencias que la maldición que lanzo a Luke tiene sobre ella. Aun así, nuestra protagonista no es una chica cualquiera, es bastante fuerte y no solo eso, no es tan común como se piensa y su encuentro con Boro no es casualidad.
The series is set in the 90's and its protagonist is Lisa Nova, an aspiring filmmaker who has her own ambitions and one of them is to get a short film she has been working on made into a movie. On her journey she meets producer Lou Burke, who promises to turn her into a great filmmaker and produce her movie, but Lou is not an honest man and things don't go as they were supposed to, so Lisa decides to take revenge by seeking the supernatural help that Boro (an eccentric woman-being that Lisa meets at a celebrity party) offers her. Lisa, supported by Boro, decides to put a curse on Lou and from then on everything gets out of control.
Lisa is blinded by her desire for revenge, that's why she didn't think about what she was getting into when she gave herself completely to Boro's plan, but sooner than later she would realize the strange consequences that the curse she put on Luke has on her. Still, our protagonist is not an ordinary girl, she is quite strong and not only that, she is not as common as one might think and her encounter with Boro is no coincidence.
A medida que la serie se va desarrollando se va volviendo cada vez más extraña, situaciones que rozan lo absurdo empiezan a suceder, todo parece una pesadilla de esas abstractas y turbias, pero eso no le quita lo encantador ni original a la serie, más bien, es precisamente lo que le da ese toque "especial", pues a mi perspectiva se sale del terror convencional y hasta resulta refrescante por ser diferente.
La estética de la serie me encanta, al estar ambientada en los 90 mantiene un estilo retro muy llamativo que encaja perfecto con la historia que se está contando, pienso que ese estilo hace que todo se vea más hipnótico por decirlo de alguna forma.
As the series progresses, it becomes stranger and stranger, situations that border on the absurd begin to happen, everything seems like one of those abstract and disturbing nightmares, but that does not take away the charm or originality of the series, on the contrary, it is precisely what gives it that "special" touch, because in my perspective it is out of the conventional horror and it is even refreshing for being different.
I love the aesthetics of the series, since it is set in the 90's it maintains a very appealing retro style that fits perfectly with the story that is being told, I think that style makes everything look more hypnotic to put it in a way.
Debo mencionar que esta serie tal vez no sea para todo el mundo (es 18+ así que ojito👁️), incluso a mí que me encanto hay escenas que me parecieron un poco turbias y voltee la cara para no verlas, porque son sangrientas y aunque me gusta el terror, no disfruto de ver cosas que puedan rozar el gore (ojito otra vez, la serie no es gore, pero ustedes me entienden).
La historia pareciera ser una y al leer la descripción pareciera haber un enfoque principal, pero la serie nos muestra historias secundarias que le darán sentido a muchas cosas, pues mostraran el trasfondo de todo.
I should mention that this series may not be for everyone (it's 18+ so be careful 👁️), although I love it, there are some scenes that I found a bit dark and I turned my face away from watching them, because they are bloody and despite I like horror, I don't enjoy watching things that may border on gore (the series is not gore, but you know what I mean).
This story seems to be one and when you read the plot description it seems to have a main focus, but the series shows us secondary stories that will give sense to many things, because they will show the background of everything.

La serie tiene muchos gatos, pero no diré como participan exactamente estos queridos animales. Todos los personajes tienen lo suyo y aportan diferentes sabores a la trama. La actriz protagonista pienso que fue una gran elección para ese tipo de papel, sus ojos grandes son muy hipnotizantes.
Esta producción es diferente, entretenida y extraña. A las personas que les guste el horror, lo particular y el misticismo sé que les va a encantar. Encontraran muchísimos momentos que los dejaran wtf en todo el sentido de la expresión (quedaran como esta carita 👁️👄👁️ ) y desearan una segunda parte.
Si les gusta leer no puedo omitir mencionar que la serie está basada en un libro que lleva el mismo nombre, así que ya saben.
The series has a lot of cats, but I won't say how exactly these beloved animals participate. All the characters have their own thing and bring different flavors to the plot. The lead actress I think was a great choice for that kind of role, her big eyes are very mesmerizing.
This production is different, entertaining and strange. People who like horror, the particular and mysticism I know they will love it. There are lots of moments that will leave you wtf (you will be like this face 👁️👄👁️ ) and you will wish for a sequel.
