The Bluff(2026) is a pirate action thriller, a brutal movie that combines revenge, family, and survival, Bluff (2026) is a movie set in the 19th century caribbean, the movie is directed by Frank E. Flowers and starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Karl Urban, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Safia Oakley-Green, and Temuera Morrison.
The story line follows a woman, Ercell Bodden who left her former life as a pirate to start a very quiet life with her family, but that peace she was trying to create came crashing down when her past caught up with her, Captain Connor an old enemy came after her and the treasures she stole and this led to a fight for survival and family.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Ercell is the main and center character of this movie, she isn't just a heroine, she is a mother who tries to protect her family when her past life came hunting her, she became a ruthless survivor to protect her family from her enemies, and she made this movie greatest strength, the moments she fights, escaped and protected those she loved, the character possessed a strong and fierce presence and actions to the movie. She fought for the survival of her children even after she faced the greatest loss, she never gave up but kept fighting till the very end.
Also, Karl Urban as Captain Connor also executed his role as a ruthless pirate perfectly, he plays the villain with cruelty, confidence, and personal resentment. The feelings and history he has for Excell, and now he has no choice but to eliminate her, although the movie didn't explore their complicated relationship, through conversations you will know they share a memorable and painful past.
What was the greatest attraction in this movie was the action, the action in the movie is undoubtedly great. The Bluff wasn't just about the actions, it also had violence and fight scenes. The sword fights, fearless combat, explosives, ambushes, and the brutality really kept the movie moving and absolutely interesting to watch. Excell fighting skills and ability were great, impressive choreography . The setting in the Caribbean gives the movie a good atmosphere, catchy beaches, forests, caves, and landscapes, giving the movie a fitting backdrop for its survival story.
The story has few weaknesses, some characters seem underdeveloped to me, there was a rush, actions were prioritized over character development. Dialogues were quite predictable to me and the emotional moments weren't in depth. Regardless of these weaknesses, the movie entertained its audience.
The Bluff is a straightforward action movie, a pirate genre that shows that the past lives can come after them, just from a little glue. It doesn't reinvent the Pirate genre violence, revenge, survival and impressive fighting skills. Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Excel gives a great performance and is one of this movie's greatest strengths and her opponent Karl Urban also executed his role perfectly.
In conclusion, The Bluff(2026) is an entertaining action adventure, would have been a better story if the character development was good enough, but regardless, the brutal combat, strong performances of the characters, and beautiful locations/ setting make the movie an enjoyable choice and also entertaining for the viewers.
I will be rating The Bluff (2026) a 75/100, the movie is really worth watching.
