뭔가 안풀린 킬러들의 결과로 시작하는 이야기로 시작되는 이 영화는
관객들에겐 미스터 오렌지(팀 로스 분)가 왜 피투성이가 됐는지, 갱단들에게는 누가 경찰끄나풀인지를 갈등하게 만듭니다.
그러면서 하나씩 던져지는 과거 갱 단원의 개별 이야기들에 따라 관객은 끊겨진 진실을 알게되고 갱단원들과 사건을 앞서거니 뒷서거니 하고 달리기 시합을 하게 됩니다.
결국 이런 스토리 영화에서 관객에겐 결과가 그들을 지배하고 갱단(캐릭터)에게는 사건이 그들을 지배함을 보여주고 있습니다.
미스터 오렌지가 경찰과 마주쳤던 썰을 풀면서 갱단의 일원으로 합류하던 장면은 이후의 타란티노 감독의 가능성을 잘 보여주고 있었습니다.
