Watersnake101 pop corn munching time ep. 2 - 'American Wrestler the Wizard'

Review by @watersnake101 · 3273d · of American Wrestler: The Wizard

Hello again Steemians. It's raining pretty hard today and the best thing to do is watch a good movie. Snuggle with someone with a warm blanket and munch on some goodies. What better to watch non other but ......................drum roll................... 'American Wrestler the Wizard'. I said hey what a dumb title sounds boring. Could be one of those slow paced movies with a lot of dialogue they I would slowly doze off to sleep. Checked out the trailer and gave it a shot.

During the Iranian hostage crisis the country was thrown into a revolution, which led to the invasion of Iraq. Our main character Ali was sent by his family to America to escape the nightmare. Watching the first few minutes of the film during the escape from Iran grabbed me by the throat and instantly pulled me in. Ali lived with his uncle in America who was a total douchebag. Apart form that he had to deal with racism, bullies and acceptance during this time in America. He tried to join different sports to be accepted. And yes you guessed it............wrestling.

We also have an egomaniacal rival in this story. Not reaching up to the Ivan Drago level but still works. Then there is the coach played by William Fichtner. Some of you would say who the hell is William Fichtner? But once you see him you would say " Oh ok I think he was the guy in the Dark Knight and some other films. No he is not the Mr. Miyagi in the movie but there is a Mr. Miyagi and it would turn up as a surprise. I love surprises.

Based from a true story teen age life can never be this hard especially against racism. The movie did a good job in 80's setting of the movie. You take Rocky and Karate Kid blend them together then you have American Wrestler. The only thing that was missing from this movie is an awesome 80's like soundtrack to complete the circle. It was awesome though but still would have rocked with someone like Peter Cetera or Survivor.

Please see this inspiring movie I assure you it is worth the 1 hr and 56 mins of your life. Please give me some comments good or bad and follow @watersnake101 for more awesome movies to watch.
