The Residence episode six took another dimension about the investigation on Detective Cupp. This time, in the Lincoln Bedroom, she discovered a bloodstain on the carpet which made her realise that she had given the wrong floor her attention; she has been conducting her investigation in the wrong floor of the White House. Where Cupp saw the bloodstain was next to the Treaty Room, where A.B. saw Harry and the two others having a suspicious meeting. Also, while she processed with the investigation, she got to know that during the night of the murder, all the secret service had been ordered to vacate that floor, and they should not report there.
Everything became more suspicious when Rausch, a secret service member, said she heard Morgan's dog bark after the floor was cleared, which was unusual for the dog to bark at except when in danger or sees something strange. But when Rausch went to check, she found no one. And when Elliot was asked if he ordered all the secret security to be removed, he denied the claim even though the agent who received the call said it came from him and he heard his voice. Cupp planned to trace the voice, but before she could do that, the investigation was ordered to be closed.
Despite two uninvited guests who were caught, a strange face was caught by the surveillance camera sitting with some Australian guests at the state dinner. He was not invited, and he sat next to Rachel Middlekauff and some other people around him. And this uninvited mysterious guest was referred to as the "Third Man." Cupp was curious to go on with the investigation, but most people around here were convinced that it was a suicide due to the note they found on A.B.
Cupp eventually left and continued with her bird searching; this time it was the giant antpitta. She left everything to because not leaving will put the career of Chief Larry Dokes at risk. A man he trusted so much. But while she was away in the jungle alone, the hearing at the senate was still ongoing.
One of the senators at the hearing, Bix, however, becomes curious about the unidentified man (the third man) and publicly releases his picture, thinking that someone will come forward. Bix plan worked, and the Third Man was seen at a bar, identified as Patrick Doumbe.
Seeing him and watching him, after he was identified, he was far less mysterious than I expected and to those in the series too. He found his way to the White House after he accidentally entered the bus meant for the Australian guest going to the White House. During the hearing, he said he moved around the White House searching for the bathroom before finally walking out of the front door. And thus time, Cupp caught up with his story and noticed he was lying because earlier, before then, Vusi, the boy who was watching the White House across the street through his binoculars, never saw anyone walk out through the front door that night during the state dinner.
Even far away in the jungle where Cupp was alone, someone brought her some books, but when she left, she discovered that the lady who came had left her with some devices that she did not ask for. Sfe used all these devices to connect with Agent Park to help question Patrick through the Senate hearing. While the questions were intense, Patrick finally admitted that he never left using the front door. And while talking, he said while moving around the white house on the second floor, he came across a man who told him they both needed to get out. But he cleared the air so that he saw the man dragging a body. And what Patrick said brought a new phase to the investigation. The case that was closed because it was concluded to be suicide's final came back to life, and Cupp was called to resume her investigation.
