Bud who is going through a divorce process and is the father of a little girl, has a dark secret, he has to work very hard to be able to maintain his facade and by maintaining his facade he will be able to keep his daughter with him; but the reality is that after his last job he will put the lives of his daughter and his ex-wife in danger, so that pool cleaner facade will come crashing down and his darkest secret will come to light: Hunting and Killing Vampires .
Day Shift is a Fantasy and Comedy movie with a duration of 1 h 54 m, it was released on August 12 on the Netflix platform, J.J. Perry was its director and it has a pretty good cast that is led by Jamie Fox, Dave Franco and Karla Souza.
Vampire movies have been very present in the world of cinema for many years and I love watching them, since I am a big fan of them and seeing that Netflix had released a comedy full of action and with vampires included, I did not hesitate for a second to choose it as a priority.
For some reason, it was difficult for me to finish watching day shift and I ended up watching it in pieces and on different days, the plot became confusing and very flat on some occasions; At the beginning it was boring and heavy, but as the scenes go by, the action that it has will entertain you and it becomes much less heavy to watch.
I did not like that they did not explain to you why California is plagued by Vampires or what is the origin of the hunter organization; I would have liked them to at least show you even a little bit of this, but it wasn't like that, they just jumped right into the story of the father of the family who is a hunter and has to fight to keep his daughter with him.
I really liked the action that it has and the dynamics that the character of Jamie Fox (Bud) and the character of Dave Franco (Seth) have, although I need them to exploit that dynamic a little more, but I suppose it is a mistake of those who wrote the script, the vampires sometimes had that touch of terror due to the way they moved which I did not dislike.
The characters are normal, there is not much to highlight about their performances, they just make it work quite well despite not being the best movie for each of them, especially for Jamie Fox, The characters that I liked the most was the one I played Karla Souza (Audrey) and the one played by Dave Franco (Seth), although they were not the best characters, I managed to connect with them and I liked them. Something that impressed me a little bit was the performance of rapper Snoop Dogg (Big John) honestly I had no knowledge that he acted and he really did well and I feel that it was a pretty good plus for the film.
In Conclusion, Day Shift is a fairly flat movie that only entertains due to the action it has, it did not meet my expectations and it is a movie that I would not see again; but despite this, it may be an option if you have nothing else to do and its action and touch of comedy may make you enjoy it even a little. My Final Score is give.
