The series, Dynasty, centres around the life of a young min-twenties billionaire named Fallon Carrington. Although the entire series is centred on her life there are other side attractions during the entire movie like her father, his wives, her mother, brother, the driver turned fiance turned billionaire rival and a bunch of other people.

Dynasty, to me, has no specific storyline. Unlike Sex Education that's specific (Sex therapy for youth), Dynasty is simply Rich People Drama and to me, rich people drama isn't enough to go on for a series with 5 seasons.

Dynasty got recommended to me by a close friend who felt I had a lot in common with Fallon Carrington. This similarity was due to her strong ego, independent mentality and overall smart mouth. I was made to understand that these qualities come as a package.

Why I didn't like it

I don't like overdramatic events occurring back to back. I mean even, in reality, I try extra hard to avoid drama as much as I can and when I can't I run away from that environment.

In Dynasty, there was just too much drama. It was either one person having sex with someone they weren't supposed to be having sex with or someone lying to another person, or a business being destroyed due to jealousy or an angry ex from absolutely nowhere coming around to mess things up.

I felt the series wasn't properly thought through.

For instance, I would expect that if a person is being talked about in the first season, they ought to give an exact idea of what we should expect if the person shows up in season 2.

In this series, the presence of a new person always starts and ends with drama. The drama wouldn't even be coordinated, it would just appear completely out of the blues and the viewers would just have to accept it.

It got irritating at some point. Why would someone just want to ruin another person just for sport? I mean, they hardly hate each other, they just want to derive pleasure from the brief suffering of another person.

Also, I hated the limited number of scenes in the series. It was either within the manor, the field, the stables, La Mirage, the jet, or their individual rooms. There was barely any creativity. There weren't new angles of these places, just the same views. It got too obvious and somewhat irritating to me.

I felt like it was poorly funded and for a movie centred on the lives of the rich and influential, they really didn't do a lot to convince me of their wealth.

Finally, I hated the disappearance of certain characters in the movie. Steven Carrington disappeared without any information. He didn't die, he was just forgotten and the series went on like he never existed. Even his husband who was a major link to him in the series remained in the series but never mentioned him. It felt odd. He was just a missing link and his disappearance showed a lack of craftsmanship on the part of the creators.

They could have thought of some way to make him disappear from the series rather than leave silly suspense from season 2 and just expect the viewers to understand. I mean, if he comes back in the next season, how would they explain everyone forgetting about him for 3 seasons?

The series could have been better. Maybe it isn't so bad even, I'm probably just the kind of person who doesn't fancy that kind of dramatic occurrence in series because it feels too surreal.

What I liked

I think what I liked the most was their cast and how predictable they were. At every point, you would be able to predict what every character who has been there since the first season would be able to do.

It's not the best thing for a series, but it made me a little less bored as I already knew what was coming next at every point. And even if I was wrong with my prediction, I would be right about the motive. It was always revolving around the same thing. Barely any lesson to be learnt.

Would I recommend?

Yeah, sure, if you're into this sort of thing. Go for it.
