Movie Review: Logan

Genre: Sci-fi ,Action, Fantasy Almost all of the movie reviews I've ever written, in them, I always start with a bit of a personal touch, about how the movie has fed my thoughts which made me know myself a little more bit by bit. But I am trying to avoid that because wolverine is my second most favorite superhero only after batman. Writing this using the usual method might make me sentimental. So skipping everything, fast forward to the actual review, here it goes-
To watch logan you do not need to be acquainted with the X-Men film universe. Because this is a standalone movie with a completely new R-Rated structure. This was the last wolverine film to feature Hugh Jackman in it and so it was meant as a tribute to him because of how Hugh Jackman changed this superhero to be completely reshaped upon his image. And after 8 movies this was bound to happen.
In a time where no new mutants can be seen for almost 25 years, an old Logan is trying to take care of dementia infested even more older Professor Charles Xavier with his job as a limo driver. Xavier’s illness causes him to have destructive seizures creating powerful telepathic waves that killed many. And to add more on top, Logan’s regenerative powers are failing and he is not recovering from injuries as fast as he used to.
This was the setting at the beginning of the film which moved forward with a moderately fast-paced story ending in a tragic yet satisfying manner.
To create art or something inspiring or unique in every aspect a creator must have no limits or bindings on his ability. In that retrospect X-Men always had the restrictions of MPAA ratings. Because of logan having no such restrictions it could have had as much gory shit as the director could’ve wanted. And so was done by James Mangold. It was like a dam opening all of its outlets after a heavy downfall. All the heavy dark depths of the X-Men films compiled and compressed into one movie. If all of the X-Men movies were like this we could’ve seen a historical franchise.
[](http://www.impawards.com/2017/posters/logan_ver6.jpg)This movie was inspired from Mark Millers the “Old Man Logan”. None of the things from the comics were taken except the idea of a gritty, dark dystopian future. To that context, Hugh Jackman did amaze me with his acting.
On an end note, Logan is a movie filled with misery and not suitable for everyone's taste. It's bitter to see a childhood superheros demise and on some part, this was also heavy for even James Mangold. And so he created a visual opera in which the real reality sets in. That even kindness and sympathy might be punishable with crude bitterness and cruelty. Not everyone's cup of tea it is.
