Synopsis: In a 60’s quiet and peaceful town named Suburbicon A new family arrives. On the first night of their stay, some white supremacist neighbors start a gathering around their house. As the mock protest catches fire a house invasion takes place at a neighboring house. A woman gets murdered and a story full of disturbing events takes on a violent narrative.
Review: Actor and director George Clooney is more famous for playing odd and sturdy roles has little directorial credits in his pocket. So I was hyped when I learned he directed a movie with Matt Damon and Julianne Moore as cast. As I have seen many of Cloney’s acting I had an idea about how he always acts in rich but a minimalistic and formal tone. I had no idea that it can anyhow have affected his directing too.

At the beginning of the movie, the first thing I noticed was all the locations were too neat and clean. So clean as it started to look almost fake. Even the trash looked like organized showpieces. As the story started to move along, I delved into Coen duos mastery-full narrative once again.
The story begins with a black family who shifts in Suberbicon. Because of being black the neighbors become startled. They start to wonder and gossip and soon it turns into a vengeful bullying. At a neighbors house, another story starts to take place. As the day turns into night and the bullying turns into a protest, a break-in occurs in their neighbor's house. Next day when everything calms down it is found that a lady was murdered during the break-in. After some brief events, the family suffering the loss is called to the police station to identify the robbers. Despite the robber being in there the family fails to identify as if almost intentionally except the murdered ladies son. As the police inspector suspects something fishy is going on. And then everything starts to go south like a dog with his tail on fire.

Now it is obvious that Clooney imagined and tried to turn the film into a dark comedy. And he was partially successful but the whole endeavor lacked in its elements. Coen brother delivered the exact dark humor you would expect but something was off. It was like too well made to be what it was intended to but it turned into a Disney movie with a disturbing ending. The soundtrack, cinematography acting was almost on point except the lacking was it was too much done.
However, I tried to enjoy it and I was somewhat successful because I think I might have liked it. Almost every movie critic gave this movie under 5-6 out of ten. But I gave it an extra point for delivering, not in every sequence, some ironic humor. I suggest you to watch at your own risk. You might or might not like watching the movie which is dependent on your own ability to take it in.
