Recently, I realized through Facebook that a new film in the famous "Jump Street" franchise, known as "Comando Especial" in Latin America, has just been announced. The duo of undercover agents and best friends became incredibly popular back in the day, creating one of the best movie duos of the 2010s, a time when comedy was everywhere and it seemed like any film in this format was destined for success. So today I want to tell you about this duo of films, which might inspire you to revisit them or help us get up to speed for the third installment of this wonderful franchise.
Recientemente, me di cuenta a través de Facebook de que se acaba de anunciar, por fortuna, una nueva película de la famosa franquicia "Jump Street" o "Comando Especial" en Latinoamérica. El dúo de agentes infiltrados y mejores amigos que se volvieron superfamosos en su momento, trayendo uno de los mejores dúos de películas por allá en la década del 2010, cuando veíamos muchísima comedia en el cine y donde parecía que cualquier película con este formato prometía éxito. Por eso hoy te quiero contar sobre este dúo de películas que quizás te motiven a verlas de nuevo o para que nos vayamos poniendo al día para la tercera entrega de esta maravillosa franquicia.
This film follows the lives of Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum), a pair of misfits who, amidst a series of failures, decide to join the police force, discovering that they complement each other perfectly. Knowing they make an incredible duo, they decide to stick together, supporting each other through thick and thin, while working as undercover cops. In the first film, they use their youthful appearances to infiltrate a high school and investigate a smuggling ring operating within it. While posing as students, they deliver some of their best scenes and a deeply palpable friendship.
Esta película sigue la vida de Schmidt (Jonah Hill) y Jenko (Channing Tatum), un par de inadaptados que, entre fracasos, deciden enlistarse en la policía, descubriendo que uno completa al otro. Como ellos saben que hacen un increíble dúo, deciden estar juntos apoyándose en todo, mientras trabajan como policías encubiertos. En la primera película, estas sus apariencias juveniles para infiltrarse en una preparatoria y así seguir una red de contrabando que hay en una secundaria. Mientras se hacen pasar por estudiantes, estos nos regalan de sus mejores escenas y una amistad altamente palpable.
The second film sees the duo return with a new mission. Struggling with existential issues and doubts, they infiltrate another institution, this time a university, investigating a new drug case. While the technique remains somewhat similar, the environment differs. Although it's an educational setting, it's populated by a different kind of people, and they realize it's a more challenging environment. This film shows how their relationship has become routine, driving them apart, but, through a beautifully crafted storyline, they manage to maintain the unique friendship that defines them.
La segunda película vuelve a mostrarnos al dúo con una nueva misión. Estos, con algunos problemas existenciales y con algunas dudas, ahora vuelven a infiltrarse, pero ahora en una universidad por un nuevo caso de drogas. Lo que sigue un poco la técnica, pero se diferencia en el entorno, que, si bien es un sitio educativo, hay otro tipo de personas allí y notan que de verdad es un entorno un poco más difícil. Esta película nos muestra cómo su relación se ha vuelto rutinaria y eso los está separando, pero, obviamente, con un hermoso desarrollo de la historia, nos muestran cómo estos aún siguen adelante con aquella amistad única que los caracteriza.
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I've watched this movie so many times, like it's a cult classic. Back then, we didn't have internet at home to watch things, and going to the movies seemed limited. We had the CDs with these films, and watching them was never boring or repetitive. In fact, about a month or two ago, I watched the second movie again, and that's when I realized how much you forget, especially such epic scenes as those in these films. My favorite of all is when the truck exploded—such an absurd moment that it became a unique memory from the first time I saw it.
Yo no sé si seré la única, pero he repetido muchas veces esta película, como si fuera de culto. Anteriormente, recuerdo que en casa no había internet para ver cosas e ir al cine parecía algo limitado, y recuerdo que teníamos los CDs con estas películas y verlas jamás fue aburrido, ni se sintió repetitivo. De hecho, hace como uno o dos meses, vi la segunda película de nuevo, y así me di cuenta de que uno olvida muchas cosas, en especial escenas tan épicas como las que estas películas tienen. Mi favorita de todas es cuando el camión explotó, un momento tan absurdo que se volvió un recuerdo único desde la primera vez que la vi.
It doesn't matter that almost 15 years have passed; I consider the return of this pair epic. It will be a true pleasure to see them back on the big screen, so I'm extremely eager for them to return and surprise us again with their antics and epic performances that stay with us forever. Obviously, I hope Ice Cube returns, as it's important that he's in this film; otherwise, with high expectations, I hope they surprise us once again.
No importa que ya hayan pasado casi 15 años; el regreso de este par lo considero épico. Será un verdadero placer verlos de vuelta en la pantalla grande, por lo que espero sumamente ansiosa que lleguen de nuevo para sorprendernos con sus ocurrencias y actuaciones épicas que se quedan en nuestros recuerdos. Obviamente, espero que regrese Ice Cube, ya que es importante que su presencia vuelva en esta película; de resto, con muchas expectativas, espero que nos vuelvan a sorprender.
