A couple of nights ago I rewatched this movie and relived the feelings it evoked in me the first time, inspiring me to write this post. I remember when the first trailers for this film came out and I was quite excited; it seemed like a fresh approach, both in story and animation. I immediately felt it would be a huge success, and it was. That's why today I want to tell you about this movie and share what I liked most about it and everything it made me feel then and now.
Hace un par de noches volví a ver esta película y reviví de nuevo los sentimientos que me causó la primera vez, inspirándome a hacer este post. Recuerdo cuando me aparecieron los primeros avances de esta película y me emocioné bastante; parecía una nueva propuesta, tanto en historia como en animación. Me pareció de inmediato que esta sería un gran éxito, tal cual lo fue. Por eso hoy te quiero contar de esta película y comentarte qué fue lo que más me gustó y todo lo que esta me generó en su momento y hasta el día de hoy.
The Wild Robot is a film that follows the story of Roz (Rozzum, unit 7134), a robot who accidentally arrives on a wild island and, initially confused, learns about her surroundings and adapts over a long period of time. She then begins to communicate with the animals and starts searching for a "task to complete," finding one that many of us have experienced: motherhood. The film then unfolds as a great adventure between a robot and a baby duck who develop a wonderful dynamic; they learn from each other how to cope, with the robot becoming the mother the duckling never had.
The Wild Robot es una película que sigue la historia de Roz (Rozzum unidad 7134), una robot que llega accidentalmente a una isla salvaje e inmediatamente, bajo una confusión, aprende del entorno y se adapta en un largo periodo de tiempo. Luego, comienza a comunicarse con los animales y desde aquí empieza a buscar una “tarea que completar”, consiguiendo una tarea que muchas hemos experimentado, la maternidad. De resto, vemos una gran aventura entre una robot y una cría de pato que tienen una brillante dinámica; estos aprenden entre ellos cómo sobrellevarse, siendo la madre que este no hubiese tenido jamás.
Well, I think that in most series and films where the protagonist or a character is a robot, we've been sold this idea that they can't feel, but they learn to. It's a well-developed theme, both to generate empathy and to show the negative aspects it can also have. But fortunately, here it's the positive side, with lessons about acceptance, about stepping outside our comfort zones, and learning to love and help each other as a society in a world of predators and prey moving through a highly savage environment.
Pues, creo que en la mayoría de series y películas en donde su protagonista o algún personaje es un robot, nos han vendido esa rebeldía de que ellos no pueden sentir, pero aprenden a hacerlo. Un tema bien tocado, tanto para generar empatía como para mostrar lo negativo que también puede llegar a ser. Pero afortunadamente, aquí es con el lado positivo, con enseñanzas sobre aceptación, aprendizajes sobre salir del confort de cada uno de nosotros y aprender a querernos y ayudarnos como sociedad en un mundo de depredadores y presas que avanzan en un entorno altamente salvaje.
Each character in the film has a personality that cleverly reflects their species. For example, my favorite moments were with the family of opossums, whose defense mechanism of feigning death, combined with a touch of absurd humor, made the film even more enjoyable. They are also among the most important characters in the movie. Seeing how each of the wild animals interacts with their environment, and the fact that they communicate, made this film unique and well-received.
Cada uno de los personajes en la película tiene personalidades que van de acuerdo a su especie de un modo muy inteligente. Como por ejemplo, los momentos que más disfruté fueron con las zarigüeyas que andan en familia, y su método de defensa de fingir estar muertas lo combinaron con un toque de humor absurdo que hace más agradable la película, sin nombrar que son de los personajes más importantes que hay en la cinta. Y así, ver cómo cada uno de los animales salvajes que aquí hay se desempeña en su entorno y, sumando que se comunican, esta película nos llegó con un estilo único y distinto que fue muy bien recibido.
The Wild Robot movie is based on a trilogy of children's books that was adapted into a film. This movie is the first book, and given its great success, we already know that the second film, based on the second book, is coming soon. We know that the Roz unit will now face off against the company that produces them. On the other hand, I'd love to read the books, but I think it might ruin the expectations the movie created for me.
The Wild Robot viene de una trilogía de libros para niños que llegó hasta el cine con su historia original. Esta película aquí mencionada es la presentación del primer libro, y con la gran aceptación que tuvo, ya hasta ahora sabemos que pronto estará por llegar la segunda película de acuerdo con su segundo libro; hasta ahora sabemos que la unidad Roz ahora se enfrentará directamente contra la compañía que las produce. Por otro lado, diría que me encantaría leer los libros, pero creo que podría destruirme las expectativas que me generó el cine.
