[1994] The Shawshank Redemption Review ( What is real freedom? )

Review by @zioland · 1931d · of The Shawshank Redemption

On February 1, 2021, the Myanmar military initiated a coup. The people of Myanmar come to the streets longing for freedom.

Will you succumb to reality or will you yearn for freedom? The people of Myanmar are trying to gain real freedom.

Being here in Hive is proof that we all crave real freedom.

This IMDd movie information site in the United States is the largest movie site in the world.

Movies that ranked #1 on this site. What is this film called'a history-class masterpiece that must be preserved and killed even if an earth's meteorite collides' that many public and experts call it?

This is Frank Darabont's masterpiece'The Shawshank Redemption'.

I think this movie is a fun movie every time I watch

The ending is always thrilling

# Official Trailer

Go to Shawshank Prison

Andy Dufrein (Tim Robbins), Deputy Manager of the Best Bank

He is accused of murdering his wife and his wife's lover.

He was right that he fought with his wife that night, but he was drunk and he couldn't remember anything.

Eventually, he was sentenced to two life sentences for killing two people.

So imprisoned in the notorious Shawshank Prison.

Prisoners are not treated as human beings because Shawshank prisons are mainly about the imprisonment of violent criminals. They were more likely to be killed.

Life at Shawshank Prison was never easy.

Hard labor and sexual abuse from inmates could be mentally disrupted.

But Andy (Tim Robbins)'s face was always expressionless and always thinking about something.

Meeting with Red

And in the Shawshank Prison, there was an old prisoner named Red (Morgan Freeman) who could get anything from prison

He killed people in his teenage years, and he's been living in the Shawshank until now

Red gets a crush on Andy.

The first impression of something seemed weak, but it seems that he was holding on well and looked pitiful.

Andy asks Red to get him a rock sculpting hammer.

He said he was going to make a chess piece out of stone.

So Andy spends his time making chess pieces. Carving at night and throwing stone dust on the playground during the day.

Andy's ability

One day Andy overhears the story of prison guards while working. It was said that the prison guards' family died and they received an inheritance for him, but he said he didn't want to pay too much tax.

Listening to this, Andy walks up to them and tells them that he has a way to avoid paying taxes.

Instead, he asks his fellow prisoners to serve him very cold beer.

At first, even the guards didn't believe, but the guard who knew his history commissioned him to work, and eventually fellow prisoners tasted cold beer after labor.

I think it was the coolest beer in the world

Andy smiles proudly when he sees it.

Rumors spread among prison guards.

After that, the guards lined up and started asking Andy to ask for accounting.

Eventually the story became known to the prison chief. Andy was assigned the accountancy of the prison chief.

The prison chief was taking bribes and mobilizing the prisoners' free labor.

Andy is mainly involved in money laundering.

Create a fictional character for money laundering.

So Andy's prison life improves.

Andy gets some strength and works for the prisoners.

Andy consistently writes to the federal government to more than double the grants for prison libraries and improve the environment to create a wonderful library where you can read books and listen to music.

Thanks to that, fellow prisoners were able to listen to music and study.

Brooks' death

Over time, Brooks, a librarian, was released on parole.

He's been here on Shawshank since he was a kid, and he's a respected person here, but he's an old man who can't do anything outside.

In the end, within a few days, he ended his life with the words “Brooks was here” inscribed on the pillars of the house.

It was a big shock to the prison colleagues.

Andy is innocent

Then, 19 years later, a young prisoner named Tommy Williams came in.

He went to jail several times, but this time the situation was a little different.

Because he girlfriend is pregnant.

Tommy, who couldn't live like this anymore, visits Andy.

And ask for help to pass the GED.

It wasn't good at first, but Andy teaches us really enthusiastically about Tommy's hard work.

Then Tommy wondered why someone like Andy was in jail.

Tommy was amazed to hear from Red that he killed his wife and his lover 19 years ago.

Because in the previous prison, a prisoner told the case that he was the real culprit, and instead the husband of a banker was arrested.

Andy, who knows this, runs to the prison warden right away.

He said he was innocent and asked for help so he could get out.

And he said he would not say a word about the corruption of the prison warden...

But to the prison warden, Andy was already a slave he couldn't let go of.

Put Andy in solitary confinement.

Andy, in solitary room, sheds tears of joy when he hears that Tommy has passed the GED.

But the prison warden kills Tommy brutally.

Andy's Escape

Andy, who came back like that, seems to have decided on something.

Going to his best friend Red (Morgan Freeman), he said he wanted to spend the rest of his life on his own boat by going to a place called'Jihu Atane.'

And when Red comes out on parole, he asks him to go to the place he proposed to his wife and find the obsidian block under the stone wall.

And I ask you to take out what is underneath

Red (Morgan Freeman) is worried about what his friend Andy (Tim Robbins) says very meaningfully.

Red can't sleep well with the ominous feeling that something really will happen that night.

And the day is bright and the morning call starts.

Andy doesn't come out

The angry guard goes to Andy's room.

But there was no one in the room

Where did you go all night?

When everyone was surprised and embarrassed, the prison chief threw a chess piece at the poster of the actress on the wall of Andy's room.

Instead of hitting the wall, Tinggi made a sound that went deep through the wall.

so14.jpg

so17.jpg

reversal

Andy broke the wall with a hammer for 19 years.

It was also a piece of stone that broke through the wall when the stone was thrown away during the day.

Everyone thought Andy was enjoying a comfortable prison life, but Andy had never thought of staying in Shawshank for a moment and was always dreaming of freedom.

By going through a dirty sewer, Andy became a free man.

A man appears in the bank while the prison chief and guards are in Andy's room.

He only existed on paper until yesterday, but came in search of the prison chief's laundered money.

It was Andy.

so18.jpg

Then, he handed over the documents containing the corruption of the prison warden to the newspaper, and left for Jihu Atane.

That's how time has passed, and the prison has regained peace, but Red misses him because he has no friend Andy

The day Red's parole was judged, he had no intention of leaving prison.

So Rad said,

"Cultivation? It's all a lie. It's just like politicians. It's like a word you use to give jobs to people in suits like you.

But there are no days when I never felt regret.

Not because you compelled you to do that, but where the stupid little guy who committed the horrible sins of the old days goes, only the old, powerless old prisoner remains.

Stop taking my time and hurry up and get an ineligible stamp"

Life is ironically, just as you get it when you give up greed, Red gets unwanted parole.

He pays in the store like Brooks, but he can't do anything right.

He was a social misfit who couldn’t even go to the bathroom without permission.

That's how he understand Brooks' situation.

But I remembered my appointment with my friend Andy.

He breaks the law that he must not leave the parole area and goes to the place as Andy suggested.

No police officers care anyway.

so19.jpg

so20.jpg

# Encounter with true freedom

I find Andy's letter where he arrived.

" Remember. 'Red' Hope is good .

Maybe it's the best one .

Things that are so good never disappear .

I need a friend to repair the ship at Jihuatane.

I'll be waiting.

I hope this letter finds you

Hoping to be healthy

Your friend Andy "

Red engraves letters next to the letters Brooks engraved.

Red was here too

And He's leaving to meet Andy

A trip to meet a friend

I think it's a joy that only free people can feel

A free person on a long journey of hope

" I hope that I can safely cross the border.

I hope to meet my friend and give a warm handshake.

I hope the Pacific Ocean is as blue as in my dreams.

Red "

And Red meets his nostalgic friend Andy and shakes hands.

Last Review

I think I always feel the same emotion even after time passes

It seems like that for humans, freedom is transcending generations.

In the middle, a prisoner named Brooks commits suicide after parole.

When a person who is valued in the world of prisons feels useless in society, the frustration seems to be really scary.

Brooks wasn't crazy, he was tamed.

Saying to be tamed

In a way, it's about being comfortable with the current situation and feeling happy in it, but I think it's a really scary word.

Man is the subject of pioneering his life as a man.

That's why it seems that people who have lost their freedom and have been tamed will no longer be able to accept a new life.

The opposite of that, the subjective life is shown through Andy.

Andy, who always craves freedom and has laid a wall for freedom for 19 years.

Because he was such Andy, he could have achieved his dream.

While reviewing, thinking about the last scene of Red going to meet Andy, I think it’s a touching feeling.

A masterpiece of masterpieces

A must-see movie before you die

It was the movie 'The Shawshank Redemption'.

Hope you don't get tamed in the current situation. so23.jpg

awesome film! Did you know that "Shawshank Redemption” earned composer Thomas Newman the first of 12 Academy Award nominations for films including “American Beauty,” “Wall-E” and “Saving Mr. Banks.”

Here's an amazing insight and breakdown of the film score by the incredibly talented Rick Beato:
