"From" Season 1 (2022) : The Series That Messed With My Mind

Review by @zoe01 🏆#21 🔥28 🎵1.4k 🎬9 📺47 📚3 · 5h · of From · 2 views

So, hey I'm thinking of posting a movie or series review three times at least in a week. So, here am I. Recently I have just finished watching From Season 1 and I do not know how to describe this series to anyone. lol 😂 This series surprised me because when I started watching it for the very first, I thought that it would be just another horror series and I was not interested.

First of all, in the plot some people find themselves trapped in some mysterious town and no matter what road they take, they always find themselves returning to that one town which they are trapped inside. I thought that maybe the group will finally escape this place but I was wrong because escaping this town proved to be more difficult than expected.

The question kept haunting my mind that why is it different people from different race and different countries were here? The town who built it? Everyone only focused on finding a way to escape but didn't try to figure out about the town why is it even there, who was responsible for putting them there? It kept surprising me that I couldn't think about the clues, hehe. Because I would turn out wrong each time. 😂

I have to admit that the time-loop concept and the mystery around everything was that made me want to watch it. As I watched the series, I would constantly think to myself

"Has this happened before?"

"What the hell is this place?"

Anyway, the creatures would appear at night and it was that made this series so memorable for me. Like not only these creatures are grotesque but the fact that they could appear as regular humans was even more terrifying. They could smile at you, talk to you and act friendly but you know what they are truly capable of.

This was something that made the scenes at night so terrifying for me. Whenever someone was outside during the night, I was constantly thinking

"please get inside as soon as possible!" 😂

I noticed these creatures do not run towards their victim to kill them it was more terrifying for me because, they smile and they wait for the right moment to strike. Like it felt like they are toying with the humans.

Sometimes, I would simply be watching the series and then something unexpected would happen, making me say "WHAT WAS THAT?!" 😭

And the gore was also something that I cannot ignore.

I do admit that there were some scenes that were so gross that I felt physically ill watching them. Watching people's insides, organs and being ripped out and thrown everywhere was not something that I enjoyed seeing on screen. 😬

However, maybe this is why I enjoyed the series so much? 😂 (I'm joking... or maybe not?🤣)

I know this does not make much sense but the fact that a horror series could actually gross me out was a big sign that the series was doing its job and the fact that I kept watching the series meant that I was getting some kind of thrill out of it. If I am thinking "why the hell do I need to continue watching this?" then it means that this series was not able to get under my skin and I think that this series was really able to do that, hehe.

However, during the day, this town is pretty much normal as everyone goes about their daily lives. However, as soon as the sun starts to set people heads back home, lock their doors, cover the windows with curtains and lastly put up the talismans on it. The reason they cover curtains is because they have the ability to hypnotize by looking in the eyes, which can result in people to open the doors. However, everyone knows that if they stay outside at night then they will become the dinner of the creatures.

Sometimes, I would be watching a few episodes and just seeing everything that was happening during the day made me feel anxious because I knew that night was coming.

Basically, the series genuinely gave me the feeling that I am trapped there with them. It is not like some typical horror movie or series where everybody is stupid enough to continue being in this situation simply because the writers wanted them to. In "From", these people are genuinely trying to understand what is going on while also trying to protect themselves the best that they can. Every character has their own approach to the current situation and there were some brave characters who were willing to risk everything for a chance to change things.

I like that each character had different motives and everyone was not focused with only one thing. Some characters wanted to find answers and some only want to survive. Gladly, some wanted to find a way out instead. But some had already given up on everything and willing to live there normally.

The strange voices which we could not hear also made me curious what do they actually sound like.

Sometimes I was just so frustrated because I wanted someone to answer some questions for me. 😂 But then I would remember that all of these mysteries were the reason why I even kept watching the series.

For now, Season 1 is looking the best but I don't know about the other seasons. Not only did this series manage to make me feel uncomfortable in my own skin but it also made me so curious that I could not stop watching the series. I was not only curious if the characters will survive another night, but I was also curious about why all of this was happening in the first place. Is there even a way out? And what is the force that controls all of this? By the end of the season, I definitely did not have the answers that I wanted. In fact, I think that I have had more questions by the end of Season 1. 😂

To be completely honest, I think the writers and producers did a good job that's why do many questions came in our mind. I think that it was actually a great way to keep me watching the series. Overall, I would say that From Season 1 was actually an unique experience for me. There were scenes that genuinely scenes that made me nervous and several scenes that made me say "eww" because it was just so gross. 😂

Like the thing that I enjoyed the most was the mystery and strange time-loop feeling and I love it when a series does not make it easy for me to simply answer the question "what is going on here?" and forces me to think a little bit more. So yes, I really enjoyed Season 1.

Was it disturbing? Yes. I felt disgusted by certain scenes. And was I sometimes completely lost and had no idea what was going on?

But was I still able to continue watching because I wanted to know what will happen next?

And I think that if a series can do all of these things to me then it is truly a great series.

From Season 1 left me confused, the mystery did not resolve yet, I'm looking forward to season 2.
