Hey people of Hive, I'm here with another review. So I started watching You I'm late I know but I didn't know about this series until a friend told me. So, yeah after finishing the first episode I already have so many thoughts about Joe our main character.
At first I was just watching him thinking he seemed like a pretty normal guy. He works at a bookstore, talks normally and doesn't immediately seem like someone who would make you suspicious. But then we slowly get to see what is actually going on inside his head and I'm like… wait a minute. This man is not normal, hehe.
One thing I really like about this show is Joe's inner voice. I actually love the way he talks to himself in his mind because we basically get to hear everything he's thinking. We're not only seeing what he does but also getting to know what is going through his head while he's doing it.
And honestly his thoughts are sometimes so wild 😂. There are moments where I'm listening to him and thinking okay that actually makes sense and then suddenly he says something completely crazy and I'm just sitting there like BRO?? Why are you thinking like this 😭
The scene that really made me realize that Joe is truly stalking Beck was when he follows her after seeing her around. He starts looking into her life and finding out things about her that she obviously never told him. Then he's watching her from a distance and I'm like… sir, you met this woman at a bookstore. You cannot already be doing all this!
To be honest, it's crazy that Joe seems to have a whole explanation in his head for everything he does. Like he has a reason for it. He does not think of himself as a creepy guy stalking someone. Meanwhile I'm watching him like Joe… please step away from the girl and go back to arranging your books, hehe.
I am glad that we're seeing the story from a boy's POV. Because that's very rare because in these type of genre it's not a common thing. I never got this much access to what a male character is thinking. Hearing from Joe's brain honestly made it one of the coolest parts of the series.
Joe has been shocking me from the very beginning I am trying my best to understand him and look through his point of view and there are moments when it made think should I support him? Everything he says and does is weird. I cannot form a single opinion about Joe yet because I gotta finish it first then I can figure out what Joe really is.
I was also impressed by the way Joe watches Beck from afar and literally analyzes small things about her, as if he is a spy who is trying to put all the dots together. It seems that Joe gets obsessed with understanding what makes Beck tick. Like dude, curiosity is one thing but you're doing detective work at this point.
I won't lie but it was honestly a good start and I'm curious about what he is capable of? I started to watch it without watching any trailer or reading the spoilers. Just had a bare minimum knowledge about it. I don't know what Joe is going to surprise me with.
Also I literally just noticed something so random when I started watching that our names match. I noticed it and was like "wait what?" It made smile thinking "I hope he doesn't ruin my name."
Anyway I'm only talking about episode 1 here so please don't spoil anything from the later episodes. I'm definitely curious enough to continue watching because Joe has already given me enough reasons to wonder what the hell is going on inside his head.
One episode in and this man is already stalking someone while narrating his entire thought process to me. Great start, Joe. Great start. Oh and yeah it felt great to see Shay Mitchell she was in "pretty little liars" I remember her because of her unique features. I don't know if she's going to be a good friend of Beck but let's see.
