source It's been a while here, and I'm happy to be back to review a Bollywood movie titled "Inspector Zende.”The movie is a 2025 crime movie which stars actors like Manoj Bajpayee who acted in the movie as Zende, a police officer who arrested the serial criminal whose name was Carl in the movie.

PLOT

The movie is about a jailer who escaped from the prison with other prisoners. He had lied to be celebrating his birthday on a particular day and in the course of the celebration, he got everyone drunk and as a result escaped from prison.

It's at press release that, Zende got to know and he immediately left for home at the milk shop and went home to dress up for the task of arresting the culprit and his gang which took them time to do, but at the end, their mission was accomplished against all odds and Zende was celebrated and rewarded. He later retired as ACP.

THE REVIEW 

When I first saw the title of the movie, I was so elated to see the movie, being it a crime movie, but when i began to see the movie, i was kind of disappointed as it's so boring. 

The first thing that put me off in the movie was how a prisoner was able to organize a party to celebrate his birthday and get the other prisoners including the officials drunk and escaped from the prisons. I think things like this shouldn't have been allowed in a prison and it's an affront to the law.

Also, the way the police department in the movie carried out their operations is unprofessional, their investigations were nothing to write home about as they were not professional enough about it, at a point, I began to wonder how those police officers were getting their information about the culprit as there's no intelligence investigation in all their operations. 

Also, the hostile environment the police from Mumbai found themselves at Goa was surprising and not good enough. How can you be working to achieve the same purpose and be hostile to each other? That's the situation between the Mumbai police and those from Goa. Even, when the culprit, Carl was arrested, those the rivalry between the two states police almost led to his escape if not for inspector Zende who was determined to get Carl arrested. 

However, as boring as the movie was, there's some take home in the movie, the passion and efficiency from the Mumbai police department can't be overemphasized and this was seen in the way all of them acted, including Patil who by the reason of fear allowed Carl to escape when he could have got him arrested in the first place, but at the end, he was one of those who made Carl arrest a success.

Also, the financial contribution towards the success of their mission really got me thrilled and I'm happy to see these kinds of officers in existence. 

I would also talk about the commissioner, the wife of Zende. She was an epitome of love and support and this she displayed with the way she performed her roles in the movie.

Aside from all of the aforementioned, the pictures and the musical tones in the movie really embellished the movie.

Canadian critic James Quandt crystallised this trend in 2004 with the now-canonical term “New French Extremity,” identifying a nascent movement defined by its assault on viewer sensibilities. Within this provocative milieu, Alexandre Aja’s 2003 horror thriller Haute Tension (released internationally as High Tension and later censored in English-speaking territories as Switchblade Romance) emerged as a lightning rod. Despite enduring censorship battles and moral panics, it remains frequently cited as one of the most potent and memorable horror films of its era, a brutal calling card that announced Aja’s arrival with unapologetic force.

The film’s script, co-written by Aja’s frequent collaborator Grégory Levasseur, presents a deceptively simple premise. Marie (Cécile de France), a young woman harbouring unspoken romantic feelings for her best friend Alex (Maïwenn), accepts an invitation to spend a weekend at Alex’s parents’ isolated rural farmhouse. Their tranquillity is shattered by the arrival of a nameless, hulking killer (Philippe Nahon), whose assault on the family home is swift and horrifyingly efficient. Alex’s father, mother, young brother Tom, and even the family dog fall victim to his brutal onslaught. Marie, displaying remarkable presence of mind, manages to hide and evade detection, but Alex is not so fortunate, abducted and dragged towards the killer’s dilapidated truck. Witnessing this, Marie’s desperation compels her to hide within the truck itself, clinging to the hope of freeing her friend. A fleeting moment of potential salvation occurs when the truck stops at a remote gas station; Marie attempts to signal the attendant, Jimmy (Franck Khalfoun), but the effort proves fatal, adding him to the killer’s grim tally. Faced with the utter collapse of any external rescue, Marie is thrust into the terrifying realisation that survival, and Alex’s only chance, demands she confront and defeat the killer herself.

Haute Tension was rarely praised for narrative innovation. Levasseur and Aja openly plundered the well-established tropes of 20th-century horror and thriller classics. The isolated setting echoes The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), the relentless pursuit recalls Duel (1971), and the killer’s methodology bears the shadow of Halloween (1978). Originality was not the film’s currency; its power lay instead in execution. Maxime Alexandre’s cinematography provided a sleek, polished visual sheen that paradoxically heightened the horror, framing the carnage with a disturbing beauty. However, the film’s defining characteristic, the element that truly marked it as a product of the New French Extremity, was its unrelenting, graphic content. Deaths are not merely violent; they are depicted with an almost obsessive focus on gore, cruelty, and visceral unpleasantness – messy, protracted, and devoid of cinematic glamour. The film’s true nature is telegraphed with jarring, almost darkly humorous clarity in its opening act: a scene revealing the killer using a severed woman’s head for fellatio instantly establishes the film’s commitment to transgressive extremity, shattering any pretence of conventional horror and setting a tone of profound discomfort that permeates every subsequent frame.

The film’s effectiveness is significantly bolstered by a strong central cast. Philippe Nahon, already infamous for his terrifying turn as the misanthropic protagonist in Gaspar Noé’s I Stand Alone (the prelude to Irreversible, another cornerstone of the New French Extremity), is chillingly effective. He embodies the killer not as a supernatural force, but as an elderly, yet terrifyingly strong, remorseless, and utterly unstoppable force of nature – a mundane monster made all the more horrifying by his apparent ordinariness. Maïwenn, the former wife of EuropaCorp’s Luc Besson (whose company financed the film), delivers a serviceable but ultimately unremarkable performance as the victimised Alex; her character primarily serves as the catalyst and damsel, lacking significant depth. The true revelation, however, is Cécile de France as Marie. The Belgian actress delivers a breakthrough performance, portraying Marie’s transformation from a slightly tomboyish, bookish admirer into a resourceful, desperate heroine with remarkable conviction. Her portrayal of the “Final Girl” – though the film deliberately subverts expectations of her survival – is intensely physical and emotionally raw, establishing de France as a compelling screen presence long before her later international success.

Yet, what truly cemented Haute Tension’s controversial legacy, arguably overshadowing even its graphic violence for many viewers, is the audacious plot twist revealed near the film’s climax. This revelation, suggesting Marie’s dissociative identity disorder as the source of the killings, sparked as much debate and division as the gore itself. Detractors swiftly dismissed it as nonsensical, a clumsy deus ex machina that retroactively invalidated the preceding narrative logic. Others criticised it as overly “clever” or pretentiously “artsy,” an unnecessary intellectual flourish grafted onto a visceral slasher. For a significant portion of the audience, the twist fundamentally ruined the film, shattering the carefully constructed reality of the home invasion. Furthermore, the twist’s implication – linking Marie’s repressed lesbian desire for Alex to homicidal psychosis – drew accusations of being deeply “politically incorrect,” interpreted by some critics as equating homosexuality with dangerous mental instability and violent pathology. Notwithstanding these valid criticisms, the twist undeniably serves a crucial function: it reframes every prior moment, imbuing the relentless pursuit and graphic violence with a new, psychologically fractured context. This very ambiguity, this jarring shift in perspective, provides horror aficionados with a potent reason to revisit the film, searching for clues and debating interpretations, ensuring its longevity beyond mere shock value.

Haute Tension, therefore, represents far more than just a brutal horror film. It is a definitive artefact of the New French Extremity, a calculated assault on cinematic norms that leveraged extreme content to break through the noise. Its journey – from banned video nasty in the UK to a censored US release as Switchblade Romance – underscores the very tensions it explored. Crucially, it served as Alexandre Aja’s undeniable ticket to Hollywood, launching a career that would see him become one of the most prominent and commercially successful horror directors of the past two decades, helming remakes like The Hills Have Eyes (2006) and Piranha 3D (2010). While its graphic violence may now feel somewhat familiar in an era saturated with extreme cinema, and its central twist remains contentious, Haute Tension could still be recommended to horror genre enthusiasts. It stands as a brutal, unflinching testament to a specific moment in film history where European auteurs, led by figures like Aja, dared to push the envelope of acceptability, forcing audiences to confront the uncomfortable, the extreme, and the disturbingly human capacity for violence, all wrapped in a package that remains as provocative and divisive as the day it first slit its audience’s collective throat.

Caitlin Cronenberg debuto como directora en la película Humane del 2024 yo me imagino que esta mujer tenía toda la presión del mundo por ser la hija de David Cronenberg y la hermana de Brandon Cronenberg, nada fácil para ella pero creo que se las arregló bastante aunque la historia te deja con varios huecos y preguntas. La película trata sobre una familia que se reúne para una cena especial cuando el padre Charles interpretado por Peter Gallagher le dice a todos sus hijos que él y su esposa Dawn van a inscribirse en un programa gubernamental de eutanasia voluntaria porque el mundo se está acabando y necesitan reducir la población, pero cuando llegan los tipos para hacer el procedimento la esposa ya se largó y ahora necesitan otro cuerpo. El concepto está bien interesante porque el gobierno subcontrata compañías para que hagan estas eutanasias y les pagan por cada cuerpo que colecten, así que Bob el tipo que llega interpretado por Enrico Colantoni no se va a ir sin sus dos cuerpos prometidos, Charles ya aceptó morir pero ahora los hermanos tienen que decidir quién será el segundo cuerpo y allí empieza toda la mierda entre ellos. Todos los hermanos son un completo desastre, está Rachel interpretada por Emily Hampshire que es una estafadora que desarrolló unas medicinas que no funcionaban, Jared que es Jay Baruchel es antropólogo y trabaja para el gobierno y por supuesto defende el programa, Ashley es una actriz frustrada interpretada Alanna Bale y Noah el hermano adoptivo Sebastian Chacon que es un adicto en recuperación, cada uno tiene sus propios problemas y todos se odian.

Algo que no me gustó de esta película es que se suponía que iba a ser una crítica social sobre como el gobierno controla todo y como la gente rica siempre encuentra maneras de salvarse pero terminó siendo solo una familia de pendejos tratando de matarse unos a otros, la primera parte de la película está bien porque te va presentando a cada personaje y sus problemas pero cuando llega Bob todo se vuelve muy obvio y predecible. Es super claro que van a tratar de matar a Noah porque es el hermano adoptivo y el adicto pero cuando la cosa se pone física resulta que el tipo sabe defenderse mejor que sus otros hermanos así que se arma el saperoco. A mi parecer el mensaje de la película se pierde completamente cuando se convierte en una pelea de hermanos en lugar de ser una crítica seria sobre los programas gubernamentales y como afectan a la gente normal, no sé si Caitlin quería hacer algo como Black Mirror pero no tenía el material ni la visión para llevarlo hasta el final. Las actuaciones son normales nada del otro mundo, Peter Gallagher hace lo que puede con un personaje que es un cobarde que prefiere morir antes que ser llamado cobarde públicamente, Enrico Colantoni es divertido como Bob el tipo que hace las eutanasias pero su personaje me pareció muy cómico para una película que se supone es seria, Emily Hampshire trata de hacer a Rachel como una psicópata pero no da mucho miedo más bien da lastima. Todos estos personajes son tan detestables y la verdasd al final no importa quien muera, para mí Noah es el único medio simp+ático pero tampoco es que sea un santo.

Hablando de la parte visual la dirección de Caitlin Cronenberg es decente, algunas tomas están bien pensadas y el ritmo no se siente pesado hasta que llega la parte donde todos se vuelven locos, pero me parece que le falta experiencia para manejar este tipo de temas tan complicados sin caer en cliches, los efectos especiales estan bien y la casa donde pasa todo se ve convincente como el hogar de una familia rica. Ahora en el guion es donde la película se cae bien feo porque trata de ser una sátira negra, un thriller de supervivencia y un drama familiar disfuncional y nunca se decide por alguno. Lo peor es que hay momentos donde trata de ser divertida pero los chistes no funcionan y cuando trata de ser seria es muy forzado, esa parte del colapso ambiental y el programa de reducción de población suena interesante en teoría pero no lo desarrollan bien solo dan pedazos de información por las noticias en la television pero no se llega a entender bien como funciona parece que lo metieoron allpi solo para justificar la situacion de la familia y no como parte importante de la historia. El final no me gustó porque después de toda la pelea terminan dando el cuerpo de Ashley que muere accidentalmente y el cuerpo de la novia de Noah que matan los matones de Bob, asi que todo fue por nada porque al final no tuvieron que elegir.

Esta peli tenia potencial para ser interesante pero se quedó en la superficie de todos los temas que toca, el concepto de las familias ricas tratando de escapar de los programas gubernamentales mientras la gente pobre no tiene opción pudo haber sido una crítica social buena pero se convitió en una pelea familiar común, no me gusyó eso de terminar viendo a una familia de millonarios tratando de decidir quien va a morir como si fuera un juego macabro. Los hermanos actúan como niños malcriados incluso cuando se supone que sus vidas estan en peligro y parece que no entienden lo grave del asunto, más Jared que cree que porque tiene contactos en el gobierno lo van a salvar hasta el final. Bob como personaje esta bien actuado pero es el tipico malo que disfruta su trabajo demasiado y que tiene toda la informacion personal de la familia para chantajearlos, pero nunca entiendes como funciona ese trabajo o por que el gobierno permite esto y el programa de eutanasia nunca se explica lo suficiente, entendí que la gente se inscribe voluntariamente a cambio de dinero para sus familias pero nunca supe como es la selección o quien califica y que pasa si alguien cambia de opinión o como el gobierno maneja a las familias que se niegan a participar.

Para mí Humane se queda como una película que tenia buenas intenciones pero que no logra mostrar ninguna de sus ideas principales de manera satisfactoria, esto es chimob porque el concepto es interesante para mantenerse viendo la peli pero resulta ser tan floja que lo que me pareció fue que perdí el tiempo. La actuación de todos está bien dentro de lo que les dieron pero ninguno sobresale y Peter Gallagher merecía un mejor desarrollo de su personaje considerando que es el que genera toda la situacion. No digo que Caitlin Cronenberg no tenga potencial como directora pero si necesita trabajar más en desarrollar sus ideas antes de llevarlas a la pantalla, esta película parece un primer borrador de algo que pudo haber sido mucho mejor. Así que si estas buscando una crítica social sobre el colapso ambiental y los programas de gobierno esta no es la película corecta, creo que aquí solo verás una familia disfuncional peleando por dos horas, yo le doy un 5/10 se olvida muy rápido y no aporta nada nuevo a los temas que trata de tocar, así que lo siento por esta vez.

Caitlin Cronenberg made her directorial debut in 2024's Humane I imagine this woman had all the pressure of being David Cronenberg's daughter and Brandon Cronenberg's sister, not easy for her but I think she managed quite well even though the story leaves you with a lot of holes and questions. The movie is about a family getting together for a special dinner when father Charles played by Peter Gallagher tells all his kids that he and his wife Dawn are going to sign up for a government program of voluntary euthanasia because the world is ending and they need to reduce the population, but when the guys arrive to do the procedure the wife has already taken off and now they need another body. The concept is pretty interesting because the government subcontracts companies to do these euthanasias and they get paid for each body they collect, so Bob the guy who arrives played by Enrico Colantoni is not going to leave without his two promised bodies, Charles already agreed to die but now the brothers have to decide who will be the second body and that's where all the shit starts between them. All the siblings are a complete mess, there is Rachel played by Emily Hampshire who is a con artist who developed some drugs that didn't work, Jared who is Jay Baruchel is an anthropologist and works for the government and of course defends the program, Ashley is a frustrated actress played Alanna Bale and Noah the adopted brother Sebastian Chacon who is a recovering addict, each one has his own problems and they all hate each other.

Something I didn't like about this movie is that it was supposed to be a social critique about how the government controls everything and how rich people always find ways to save themselves but it ended up being just a family of assholes trying to kill each other, the first part of the movie is ok because it introduces you to each character and their problems but when Bob arrives everything becomes very obvious and predictable. It is super clear that they are going to try to kill Noah because he is the adoptive brother and the addict but when it gets physical it turns out that the guy knows how to defend himself better than his other brothers so the saperoco is armed. In my opinion the message of the movie is completely lost when it turns into a sibling fight instead of being a serious critique about government programs and how they affect normal people, I don't know if Caitlin wanted to do something like Black Mirror but she didn't have the material or the vision to see it through to the end. The performances are average nothing to write home about, Peter Gallagher does what he can with a character who is a coward who would rather die than be called a coward publicly, Enrico Colantoni is funny as Bob the guy who does the euthanasias but I found his character too comical for a movie that is supposed to be serious, Emily Hampshire tries to make Rachel as a psychopath but she is not very scary rather pitiful. All these characters are so obnoxious and in the end it doesn't really matter who dies, for me Noah is the only half sympathetic one but he's not a saint either.

Talking about the visuals Caitlin Cronenberg's direction is decent, some shots are well thought out and the pace doesn't feel heavy until the part where everyone goes crazy, but I think she lacks experience to handle this kind of complicated themes without falling into cliches, the special effects are ok and the house where everything happens looks convincing as the home of a rich family. Now in the script is where the film falls down badly because it tries to be a black satire, a survival thriller and a dysfunctional family drama and never decides on any of them. The worst thing is that there are moments where it tries to be funny but the jokes don't work and when it tries to be serious it is very forced, that part of the environmental collapse and the population reduction program sounds interesting in theory but they don't develop it well they just give bits of information from the news on TV but you don't really understand how it works it seems that they put it allpi just to justify the situation of the family and not as an important part of the story. I didn't like the ending because after all the fight they end up giving the body of Ashley who dies accidentally and the body of Noah's girlfriend who is killed by Bob's thugs, so it was all for nothing because in the end they didn't have to choose.

This movie had potential to be interesting but it stayed on the surface of all the issues it touches, the concept of rich families trying to escape government programs while poor people have no choice could have been a good social critique but it turned into a common family fight, I didn't like that of ending up watching a family of millionaires trying to decide who is going to die as if it was a macabre game. The brothers act like spoiled children even when their lives are supposed to be in danger and they don't seem to understand the seriousness of the matter, more Jared who thinks that because he has contacts in the government they will save him until the end. Bob as a character is well acted but he is the typical bad guy who enjoys his job too much and has all the family's personal information to blackmail them, but you never understand how that job works or why the government allows this and the euthanasia program is never explained enough, I understood that people sign up voluntarily in exchange for money for their families but I never knew how the selection is or who qualifies and what happens if someone changes their mind or how the government handles families who refuse to participate.

For me Humane remains as a movie that had good intentions but fails to show any of its main ideas in a satisfactory way, this is chimob because the concept is interesting to keep watching the movie but it turns out to be so weak that what I felt was that I wasted my time. Everyone's acting is fine within what they were given but none stand out and Peter Gallagher deserved better character development considering he's the one who generates the whole situation. I'm not saying that Caitlin Cronenberg doesn't have potential as a director but she does need to work more on developing her ideas before bringing them to the screen, this film feels like a first draft of something that could have been much better. So if you are looking for a social critique about environmental collapse and government programs this is not the right movie, I think here you will only see a dysfunctional family fighting for two hours, I give it a 5/10 it is very quickly forgotten and doesn't bring anything new to the issues it tries to touch, so I'm sorry for this one.

Who else have experienced deciding to watch a movie just because you're bored, but then it ends up sitting on your chest like a weight? I have and that's exactly how Atonement was for me. I did not plan to take the movie seriously at first. I thought it was just another old-time love story with fancy English accents and gowns. But this movie caught me off guard

The Plot

The movie begins in a big fancy house owned by the Tallis family. Cecilia (Keira Knightley) is the older daughter, elegant but stubborn. Robbie (James McAvoy) is the housekeeper's son. He is smart, hardworking and basically like family to the Tallis. From the start, these two had feelings for each other but were too proud to say it.

Cecilia's sister, Briony (Saoirse Ronan). She is 13-year-old but she has this wild imagination. She is a writer, always spinning stories in her head. One day, she sees something between Cecilia and Robbie, an argument by the fountain. To her young eyes, it looks suspicious but she doesn't understand that what she saw was actually charged with attraction. Later, Briony happens to read a private letter Robbie meant for Cecilia. And of course, it's not the innocent version but the explicit one he accidentally sent. Now her imagination goes wild. Briony convinces herself that Robbie is "dangerous".

The night of the same day, Briony witnesses a terrible incident: her cousin, Lola, is attacked in the dark. Briony doesn't see clearly who it is but in her mind, she decides that it must be Robbie. And here's where the damage is done. Briony accuses Robbie and everyone believes her. Then Robbie, the man Cecilia loves, is dragged away in handcuffs.

From this point on, the story breaks apart. Robbie goes to prison, then to war, trying to earn freedom. Cecilia cuts herself off from her family and stands by him. And Briony, as she grows older, begins to realise the full weight of her lie. The rest of the movie shows their separate path through the years. Robbie in the chaos of a war, Cecilia as a nurse and Briony trying to "atone" for what she did as a child.

And then the ending... the ending is the kind that would leave anyone hollow. You think, maybe, just maybe, love will win after all but the truth is far crueler. What Briony gives us in the end is not what really happened but her own version of it. Her own way of trying to undo what can she can never undo. The twist at the end made me pause the movie and just sit there. I was actually wishing the movie had been kinder.

Quite frankly, this movie was magnificently well done. The clothes,acting, and cinematography, everything was top class. But what makes it unique in its own way is the emotion it leaves behind. It doesn't give comfort and doesn't hand a happy ending. It left me with reality and the reality in this movie is cruel. That is why I think it really resonated with me, because life is not always fair. Love does not survive, People don't get the chance to fix what they break and are left with just memory and remorsw. That is what Atonement captures so well.

The characters were also very good. Cecilia and Robbie played their parts perfectly. I could feel in the electric in their scenes. Especially the library scene, whew.

And that ending... I still cannot get over it. I don't even want to spoil it too much just in case you haven't seen it, because you would need to feel that gut punch yourself.

Atonement deserves a 9/10 ⭐️ rating from me. The movie was really heartbreaking but was worth every second I spent watching it.

“Wait… who’s playing who right now?” The movie is messy, loud, and glittering, but underneath all that chaos, there’s this sharp cleverness that really got to me. It’s almost like watching a game of poker where everyone keeps bluffing but you can’t help but root for both players.

It starts with Josephine (Anne Hathaway) — she’s everything you imagine when you think of an untouchable con artist. She’s classy, calculated, dripping with elegance, and moves through rooms like she owns the oxygen. Every scene with her in the beginning had me glued because she wasn’t just tricking people for money; she was showing off this insane mastery of manipulation. Like that moment where she makes men believe they’re smarter than her just to get their guard down? I swear, watching her stroke egos while lining her pockets made me laugh and cringe at the same time. Because let’s be honest, we’ve all seen people fall for flattery that obvious, but Josephine makes it look like an art form.

Next comes Penny (Rebel Wilson) whose arrival is the complete reverse. She is loud, messy, impulsive, and does not work to get into scams but falls into them. Do you remember that scene at the bathroom stall? How she could persuade a man over the internet that she was a model and she is caught up in the most outrageous imaginings? I almost choked on my drink laughing. But here is a twist: she is ridiculous as Penny is but she is real in a way Penny is not. She is crude, she is crase, and maybe she is not polished, but has guts, she has. It is what makes her interesting to follow. She is not graceful with grace; she is nerve-y and, at times, nerve is everything.

When the two clash, oh my God that is when the movie actually begins. It is oil and water mixing but rather compromising, it is this explosive cocktail. Josephine glares at Penny as though she is dirt under her foot and Penny looks at Josephine as this shiny, arrogant phoney who believes she is better than all. They have an electric chemistry since it is founded on rivalry. All of the scenes between them left me as though I was watching a brother and sister who could not help but one-up the other.

A very memorable scene to me was when Josephine chooses to train Penny. At the beginning it seems like the traditional teacher and student model with Penny expected to learn classes and work around. However, the thing is that Penny does not take in all the lessons of Josephine, she bends them, turns them inside out, and applies her own dose of chaos to make them functional. Similarly to that dinner scene, in which Penny fakes blindness? That was outrageous. The manner in which she ruined the clean, elegant scam of Josephine with her frenzied improvisation left me laughing and at the same time I loved the audacity she had. it was irresponsible, fair enough, but genius in its way.

And then the stakes get higher. They make that bet — a competition over who can con a young tech millionaire first. This is where the film really tested me emotionally, because on the surface it’s just two women hustling a man, but underneath it, I saw something deeper. It became less about the money and more about proving who really belonged in the world of con artistry. Josephine was all about control and precision, while Penny was chaos and guts. Watching them circle this millionaire like sharks, each trying to outmaneuver the other, had me on edge. There were moments I thought Josephine had it locked down, but then Penny would pull some absurd stunt that somehow worked, and I’d start questioning everything again.

But here is where my weak side came in-- since as I laughed, I also had a reason to feel something rough. Being a woman, I could not help but see the larger picture in two women creating power in a world that does not fully appreciate them. They were not just trying to get some money they were trying to get something to validate, to confirm that they were not a joke or an object. And the film was funny, but there was that underbelly. It hit me. at times we can all be hustling, not necessarily money, but honour, room in a world that does its best to squeeze us into proper little boxes.

The turns continued to happen. I had finally hoped that Josephine and Penny would come to some sort of relationship or respect each other when the movie totally snatches the rug out. Betrayals, turns, cross-deals--one could not have known who was at the real helm. And honestly? Such vagaries were a reflection of life. Since is that not the way people are? We feign alliance, we grin, we share but when it comes to high stakes, we all become selfish at times.

The final, oh, the final episode got me. It was this ideal combination of comeback and comedy, without being overly spoilt. All those games, all those cons, they run round and round and bring it back to us that however clever you may think you are, there is always somebody smarter. I strolled off dispositionally content and thoughtful. Similar as yes, I laughed my heart out, but I could not help thinking how many times we wear masks, how many times we act just to live, just to win, just to prove that we are not that little in the eyes of someone else.

What really stayed with me was Penny and Josephine’s dynamic. It made me think about the women in my own life — the polished, put-together ones who seem untouchable and the raw, messy ones who live without filters. Sometimes they clash, sometimes they complement each other, but in the end, both kinds of strength matter. The Hustle captured that beautifully. It reminded me that power doesn’t have just one face, and hustle isn’t always pretty — but it works.

Hace unos días mi esposa estaba viendo una nueva serie coreana la cual por algún motivo inexplicable me quedé como pegado a la TV. Quizás por qué la historia que nos presenta esta serie no es tan extraña pues ya antes tanto ella como yo la habíamos visto pero en formato película. De hecho, les aseguro que muchos de los que me están leyendo han visto la película. La misma lleva por nombre 17 otra vez. ¿La recuerda? De seguro si les menciono a Zac Efron ya se imaginarán cuál es.

A few days ago, my wife was watching a new Korean series, and for some inexplicable reason, I found myself glued to the TV. Perhaps it's because the story presented in this series isn't so strange, since both she and I had already seen it before, but in movie format. In fact, I'm sure many of you reading this have seen the movie. It's called 17 Again. Do you remember it? If I mention Zac Efron, I'm sure you'll know which one I mean.

La cosa es así, la serie cuenta con 16 capítulos y a lo mejor es una historia mucho más profunda que la que nos muestran en la película. De hecho sí, es una historia mucho más completa y donde por supuesto también habrá rellenos de sobra. Normal, como toda producción que intenta copiar algo ya hecho. No puedo negar que la historia de amor que nos presenta esta producción coreana es de mucho valor. Las series coreanas son de verdad bastante intensas con el tema del amor como en el respeto y esta serie no se escapa de esas características. Hay una cosa que me causa mucha risa y debo entender que hay diferentes costumbres que son bastante interesantes como por ejemplo, tomar de la mano a alguien puede significar muchísimas cosas. Personalmente, las costumbres occidentales me agradan mucho.

The thing is, the series has 16 episodes and it's probably a much deeper story than what we see in the movie. In fact, yes, it's a much more complete story and, of course, there will also be plenty of filler. That's normal, like any production that tries to copy something that's already been done. I can't deny that the love story presented in this Korean production is very valuable. Korean series are really quite intense when it comes to love and respect, and this series is no exception. There's one thing that makes me laugh a lot, and I have to understand that there are different customs that are quite interesting, such as holding someone's hand can mean many things. Personally, I really like Western customs.

En fin, si normalmente lloras viendo alguna serie coreana, créeme algo, aquí necesitarás una caja de pañuelos o por lo mínimo una toalla bien grande para mantener tu cara seca de lágrimas. Dado que la historia se intensifica. Acá nos encontraremos con escenas y capítulos que son devastadores sentimentalmente tanto que por momentos pensé que el protagonista decidiría terminar con su vida ya que de verdad por todo lo que pasa no se le hace fácil consolidar su tranquilidad. Y es que no debe ser sencillo despertar y tener de 40 años 18. Y sí, sé que lo hemos pensado muchas veces pero no estamos pensando en sus causas. A medida que va pasando el tiempo, el protagonista logra entender todo lo que estaba perdiendo por desear ser joven nuevamente. Sí, tal como la película original pero aquí, de verdad que se afincaron en hacernos sentir parte de la historia.

Anyway, if you usually cry watching Korean dramas, believe me, you'll need a box of tissues or at least a large towel to keep your face dry. The story intensifies. Here we encounter scenes and episodes that are so emotionally devastating that at times I thought the protagonist would decide to end his life, since everything he goes through makes it really difficult for him to find peace. It can't be easy to wake up and be 40 years old when you're 18. And yes, I know we've thought about it many times, but we're not thinking about the reasons behind it. As time goes by, the protagonist comes to understand everything he was losing by wanting to be young again. Yes, just like the original movie, but here, they really focused on making us feel part of the story.

Aun cuando ya conocíamos de que iba todo la seguimos viendo. Esta historia tuvo un final muy distinto a la película de Zac Efron, un final que sinceramente no lo esperaba pero que le dio un giro bastante agradable y por supuesto, mucho más referente a sus costumbres. Sí, tal vez te preguntarás por qué deberías de verla, y te explico rápidamente. Quizás en la película de una hora y media pudo de haber tenido algunos agujeros que no se pudieron tapar, en este caso, la serie Coreana nos presenta una historia más profunda y sinceramente de mucho aprendizaje y es por eso, que los invito a que vean y puedan ustedes mismo tener sus propias conclusiones. Así que ya saben, una buena porción de cotufas y algo con que pasar la sal ja ja ja....

Even though we already knew what it was about, we kept watching it. This story had a very different ending from the Zac Efron movie, an ending that I honestly didn't expect but that gave it a rather pleasant twist and, of course, was much more relevant to their customs. Yes, you may be wondering why you should watch it, and I'll explain quickly. Perhaps the hour-and-a-half movie had some holes that couldn't be filled, but in this case, the Korean series presents us with a deeper story that is honestly very educational, and that's why I invite you to watch it and come to your own conclusions. So, you know, grab a big bowl of popcorn and something to pass the salt, ha ha ha...

The whole Haverford confrontation felt very crappy, yeah beating up a guy who cant even walk straight could make Edwards look abusive and after all they now paint him as this guy who has more self control than on episode one. After all that buildup throughout the season about this guy being this master manipulator working with Iran to get nuclear weapons, his actual motivation turned out to be some weird revenge fantasy against America for not doing enough after Vietnam and the Beirut bombings. The dude literally wanted to start a nuclear war between Israel and Iran just to get back at the US government for what he saw as decades of weakness, which is pretty fucked up when you think about how many innocent people would die just because this old man couldnt get over some shit that happened before Ben was even born. Hopkins playing the character was fine but the whole villian reveal felt kinda cartoonish compared to how grounded the rest of the series tried to be, like they needed to make Haverford so obviously evil that there was no question Ben was doing the right thing by taking him down.

The political stuff with Cyrus getting taken out by that car bomb was awesome and probably the most satisfying death in the whole season, especially after all the shit he pulled trying to play both sides of this Iran nuclear deal while pretending to be some kind of diplomatic peacemaker. Mo placing that bomb on his car and saying this is for Eliza before walking away, that was some cold blooded revenge that felt earned after everything these characters went through this season, I honestly thought Cyrus was running away because of how at the last second he tries to get out the car, same thing with Artem getting his throat slit in that massage place scene, which was nasty as hell but again felt like justice being served for all the American soldiers and operatives who died because of these guys greed and political games, the series did great at showing Jules as probably a mole within the organization but turn out to be one of the strongest patriots within the team. The way they showed these takedowns happening simultaneously while Ben was confronting Haverford really drove home the ending of the episode, felt them closing all doors and windows to wrap it up, like a coordinated team effort to bring down this whole conspiracy.

But honestly the ending is where this episode and maybe the whole season kinda lost my interest because Ben decision to join the CIA after everything he just went through feels like the writers trying too hard to connect the dots to the original series without really earning that character development, the only thing I could think about is that he got tired of been the boots on the ground getting fucked by the CIA so now he wants to be the one who fucks the boots on the ground??. The whole polygraph scene where hes asked why he wants to join and he says this is where I belong, that should be this big moment of character revelation but it just felt flat because we never really saw Ben struggling with that choice throughout the season, plus having Dash show up out of nowhere to recruit him for some mysterious ground branch operation feels like setup for season 2 rather than a satisfying conclusion to this story and the fact that we still dont know what happened to Hastings or how Ben eventually becomes the guy who betrays Reece makes this feel more like a middle chapter than a proper ending, overall if this turn out to be a prequel would be better if they just shut it down as then you either going to have it fast forward or run two stories in parallel? I think the OG series is getting another season so I wonder how this is all going to play out, after all having multiple spin off running is the new thing for TV series now days. Overall the action was solid and seeing the team work together to take down the bad guys was satisfying but the character work needed more time to breathe, I give this finale a 7/10 but the whole season probably lands around a 6.5 for me.

For decades, Western Europe, or at least the comfortable Anglophone and Nordic fantasy of it, was peddled to American audiences as a kinder, gentler reflection of their own society: possessing all the technological prowess and economic stability, yet miraculously devoid of the festering American sores – the intractable racial tensions, the pervasive street crime, the stifling censorship, the ultra-violent militarism of foreign policy, and, crucially, the troglodytic puritanism surrounding recreational drugs. Nowhere was this latter delusion more potent, nor more heavily mythologised by Hollywood screenwriters and devoured by impressionable teenagers and young adults, than in the perceived libertine paradise of the Netherlands, specifically Amsterdam. Countless films and television shows conjured the Dutch capital as a hedonistic heaven on earth, a place where sensible drug regulation coexisted with civilised living, a stark rebuke to American prohibitionist folly. It is this pervasive, romanticised European mirage that The Wire, in its unflinching dissection of the catastrophic US War on Drugs, deliberately invokes and then systematically demolishes in its audacious Season 3 episode, Hamsterdam. The very title, a deliberate mispronunciation of "Amsterdam" spat out by Baltimore’s street dwellers, signals the episode’s core thesis: the American attempt to replicate this European fantasy is not only doomed but inherently grotesque within the specific, brutal context of the American urban landscape.

"Hamsterdam" refers to the radical, clandestine policy enacted by Major Howard "Bunny" Colvin in Baltimore’s beleaguered Western District. Faced with an intolerable murder rate and the sheer futility of conventional policing against the drug trade, Colvin designates specific, derelict zones – vacant lots, condemned buildings – as de facto free-fire areas where the open sale and use of narcotics will be tacitly permitted, or at least ignored by his command. His immediate, pragmatic goal is simple: contain the violence, reduce the murders bleeding into residential streets, and restore a semblance of order for the beleaguered citizens. Colvin’s resolve is hardened during a raw, emotionally charged community meeting where residents, exhausted and terrified, voice their despair. Significantly, this meeting is attended by City Councilman Tommy Carcetti, whose district lies far from the Western precinct. Carcetti’s presence is not altruism; it is the opening gambit in his audacious, seemingly quixotic plan to run for Mayor of Baltimore. His ambition is met with immediate, blunt scepticism – how can a white man possibly win in a majority-Black city? This cynicism is initially shared by Theresa d’Agostino (Brandy Burre), the sharp, DC-based political consultant Carcetti hopes to recruit, who views his mayoral bid as politically naive bordering on foolish. Colvin’s experiment, therefore, unfolds against the backdrop of nascent political ambition, where solutions are sought not just for moral or practical reasons, but as potential stepping stones to higher office.

Colvin’s implementation of "Hamsterdam," however, swiftly reveals the chasm between theoretical policy and street reality. The corner boys, immersed in their immediate, hyper-local turf wars and survival instincts, possess little awareness of, or capacity to comprehend, abstract concepts like "Hamsterdam" or Swiss drug policy. When Colvin’s officers attempt to persuade dealers to relocate to the designated zones – using intimidation as the primary tool – the effort is met with confusion, disbelief, and outright refusal. The dealers simply cannot process the notion of state-sanctioned drug markets; the very idea contradicts their lived experience of relentless police pressure. Driven to desperation, Colvin resorts to a more direct, almost authoritarian approach: rounding up the young dealers en masse and assembling them in a local school gymnasium to explain his vision. This gathering, however, descends into predictable chaos, a microcosm of the breakdown in authority. Order is only momentarily restored not by the police, but by the elderly school principal – a figure representing genuine, earned community respect that the police utterly lack. The scene is devastating: the dealers, many barely past school age, exhibit more deference to the principal than to the armed representatives of the state, highlighting the profound alienation of the police from the community they ostensibly serve.

Meanwhile, the Major Case Unit, ostensibly the city’s elite investigative force, flounders in irrelevance. Officially tasked with targeting low-level, independent dealers (a directive McNulty scorns as trivial compared to his obsession with Stringer Bell), the unit is further crippled by the fallout from the disastrous Cheese wiretap operation. McNulty’s relentless, near-solipsistic pursuit of Bell, conducted with scant regard for the unit’s cohesion or his colleagues’ efforts, brings him perilously close to open conflict with the normally unflappable Lester Freamon. Yet, McNulty’s doggedness yields a critical breakthrough: he discovers that Stringer Bell, unlike his street-level lieutenants who use disposable burners, operates on a genuine, traceable phone line. This single piece of detective work allows McNulty to physically tail Bell, peeling back the layers of his ambition. He uncovers Bell’s legitimate business partnerships – with wealthy land developer Andy Krawczyk and the corrupt state senator Clay Davis – revealing that Bell’s real estate ventures are not merely money laundering but a calculated, sophisticated bid to transcend the drug trade entirely and establish himself as a legitimate power broker within Baltimore’s establishment. Simultaneously, McNulty’s investigation into the rising Marlo Stanfield begins; a chilling conversation with Homicide’s Detective Holley (Brian Anthony Wilson) introduces Marlo as pure, calculated "evil," a 22-year-old already capable of cold-blooded witness elimination, marking him as a terrifying new force.

McNulty’s professional triumphs are starkly counterpointed by profound personal collapse. His desperate hope for reconciliation with his estranged wife evaporates as he realises her sole interest is maximising alimony. Seeking solace in Rhonda Pearlman, he instead descends into drunken despair, culminating in a humiliating, late-night confrontation at her door. There, he discovers the ultimate betrayal: Pearlman is having an affair with his direct superior, Lieutenant Cedric Daniels. This revelation forces an excruciatingly awkward encounter between McNulty and Daniels in a bar, a scene thick with unspoken tension and shattered trust, underscoring how the corrosive nature of the drug war permeates every facet of life, personal and professional.

The episode also tracks the consequences of the system’s indifference. Avon Barksdale, despite Rhonda Pearlman’s vigorous objections as a prosecutor, secures his release through a prior deal with prison authorities eager to be rid of him. Cutty Wise, recently freed after fourteen years inside, struggles profoundly with reintegration, his attempts at legitimate work (landscaping) dismissed as the best he can hope for. This crushing limitation, coupled with the magnetic pull of the only life he knows, drives him back into the arms of the Barksdale organisation. Written by George Pelecanos, David Simon’s long-time collaborator and chronicler of urban America, Hamsterdam succeeds where the preceding Dead Soldiers stumbled. Pelecanos masterfully interweaves the disparate plot strands – Colvin’s social experiment, McNulty’s investigative breakthroughs and personal implosion, Carcetti’s political machinations, Avon’s return, Cutty’s struggle – into a remarkably coherent and thematically dense whole. Director Ernest Dickerson exhibits greater discipline here, avoiding the stylistic flourishes that occasionally muddied Dead Soldiers, favouring instead a more grounded, observational approach that serves the complex narrative. The episode’s only minor misstep might lie in its final moments: the Barkdale Organisation wild party, scored with contemporary hip-hop, feels slightly over-stylised, bordering on the self-consciously "artsy" of a modern rap video. It risks aestheticising the desolation it seeks to critique, momentarily pulling the viewer out of the gritty realism that defines the episode’s power.

Hamsterdam is a devastating critique of American exceptionalism and the persistent, dangerous allure of simplistic European solutions to deeply rooted American pathologies. It exposes the profound naivety of transplanting concepts like Dutch drug tolerance into the uniquely toxic American cocktail of systemic racism, economic abandonment, and a carceral state that has utterly failed its most vulnerable citizens. Colvin’s well-intentioned but ultimately arrogant plan fails not because the idea is inherently flawed in a vacuum, but because it ignores the specific, brutal realities of Baltimore – the lack of trust, the fractured communities, the sheer power of the street economy, and the political cowardice that ensures such experiments can only be clandestine, half-measures. Hamsterdam remains one of The Wire’s most audacious and essential statements on the impossibility of quick fixes in a broken system.

Hi guys, how are you all? Hope you are very well. Friends, there are some movies which the people do not notice because they have brand new artists or they are very low budget, there is no reason to highlight them, still some movies become amazing because the story of that movie is so strong or the acting of the artist of that movie is so great that every audience who watches it is full of praise. There are several movies like this, and this has happened on multiple occasions. Yesterday I saw a movie trailer. I saw the trailer, a brand new artist acted in this movie. I did not have much interest in watching the movie, but then I thought that today, since I have time, I should watch the movie.

At the beginning of the movie, it is shown that in the early morning in a province of India, the azan is being given, which means that it has just started. There are a few people in the middle of it. Among them, a man is walking in front of a shop to buy some food from there. The plan is on the other side, and the remaining two bandits stay in front of the bank; thus, the movie starts. The director has won the audience's heart by presenting it very simply in the beginning, because no one could have expected that such suspense would come., I like the beginning of the movie very much.

I never expected such a low-budget film to be so beautiful. I really liked the movie from start to finish. Especially the aspect that the director has given some twists, which I like very much. Anyone who has seen the movie will agree with me. And those who haven't seen it yet, if you have seen Bollywood movies, then you can watch this movie. I hope you will like this movie very much.
