SteemWorld ~ Weekly Support ~ #15

[EN]

This post is intended to cover the server costs for SteemWorld.org and to enable me to continue my development in the future.

In case you missed the first part: SteemWorld ~ Weekly Support ~ #1

[DE]

Still standing?

Yes.

Did the recent 'bad' news change anything for the worse regarding to Steem's development?

No.

How will you survive the times of highly manipulated USD prices?

Work as always, post more.

Updates

Account Creator

It is now possible to claim new accounts by paying the account_creation_fee in STEEM (currently 3 STEEM). The paid STEEM will be burned (sent to @null) immediately.

I moved the payment method to the claim form, so that it is possible to claim accounts using STEEM without the need of creating them at the same time. The pending claimed accounts are now being displayed in the actual creation section below, which makes the whole process a bit easier to understand:

When clicking on the Claim Account button, there will pop up a confirmation dialog:

After claiming an account, the pending claimed accounts will be increased by one and it can then be used to create a new Steem account at any time.

SBD Conversions

As we know, SBD to STEEM conversions take 3.5 days to finish and after starting the process it has always been a bit confusing not to be able to see the progress of running conversions. For that reason I added a new overview in the Orderssection:

Preparations for today's coming `api.steemit.com` update

As some of you may know, there is an important update coming today (2018-12-07 / 23:00 UTC), which will enable routing many common API requests to the new Hivemind services.

I tested SteemWorld with Hivemind through the recent days and made a few changes to my code to ensure that all features will continue to work. Keep in mind that Hivemind is still in alpha state and there might happen unexpected things in the coming days.

As soon as all public endpoints have been updated to use Hivemind, there will no longer be a limit of 100 posts in the posts overview on SteemWorld.

There are exciting times ahead ;)

In the making

  • Finding/Building a trustable open source solution (maybe Keychain) for using private keys on SteemWorld
  • Web service for loading the data in a more efficient way and to enable me to add many cool new features in future
  • Different views / no limit in the posts overview
  • Details for coming rewards (number of posts/comments, maybe a pie chart)
  • Improved coming curation rewards overview
  • RC costs calculation

Would it be possible to make the columns on the conversions page sortable? SteemWorld sensibly uses incremented Request IDs so conversions that you generate are well-organized when sorted by them, but Beem assigns IDs randomly to its conversions and it would be nice to be able to see those sorted by time.

  • @qwoyn(63)· 2813d

Great site! Keep up the good work.

  • @stuffbyspencer(62)· 2813d

Awesome work as always man, keep it up! Is there a way to see how many RCs you could have at specific SP levels?

For instance, when you use the "simulate SP" button, would it be possible to show how much RC you would have at that level? I often wonder about how many posts I would be able to do if I had an extra 1,000 SP, or how many votes I could make, or accounts I could create, etc.

  • @el-nailul(61)· 2815d

Thank you again for this update of the app @steemchiller, it getting more interesting to only use this one.

  • @gillianpearce(67)· 2815d

Hi @steemchiller I'm not sure where to report issues with Steemworld so hope you see this here. For the last 4 hours or so all my votes are currently showing twice.

  • @dses(58)· 2815d

Hoping all the best and fingers crossed @steemchiller . Have always enjoyed your service that gives such insight of reporting through your awesome interface and functions.

Wish my account is strong enough to give you bigger upvotes; but that's all I have right now and hope that you will hold on and keep strong always.

Hi, great app and fast considering the amount of data on a page.

Hope you don't mind me mentioning a price discrepancy I noticed today. If you open up a Vote and look at the Weight and the Post Payout, the relationships between the $-values and STEEM are different; the Weight shows the correct exchange rate of about 40 cents but the Post Payout is showing many different exchange rates.

Related to Hivemind, perhaps? Cumulative rounding errors from small upvotes?

    Anyway, hope this helps.

  • @isarmoewe(65)· 2816d

Wieder mal kleine feine neue Features. Danke dafür!

  • @bashadow(70)· 2816d

Hi steemchiller, not sure if it is my computer or if a glitch from the steemit API move and things but the time stamp seems to be off, a lot. it always showed the correct time for me in Alaska, but today, not so right. Here is an image from about 4 minutes ago: steemworld time mix up.png Big version so you can read the times easier.

I know steemit is moving bits and pieces around, so this may just be a part of that, but thought you should know. Real time for that steembounty vote should have been in the 10:00AM hour.

Just transferred a few STEEM to you. Thank you for building SteemWorld, it is very useful.

  • @curatorcat(72)· 2817d

Always happy to see your updates @steemchiller, and glad to give my vote every time... in all the ups and downs, Steemworld.org seems to be one of the few reliable constants around here; I fear I would feel quite "lost" without it, at this point... so a sincere "thank you!"

I still haven’t figured out all the function and stats you included in your work!! I am very basic Steemian. LOL

    Chapeau!

I like especially the claim feature. Will probably give away some, in the near future, especially if there is anyone interested in trying the platform.

Maybe I should try a project of my own... still thinking... not much time lately.

  • @dosdudes(69)· 2818d

Thanks again for all the work!!

  • @felixgarciap(71)· 2818d

    Nice work. Congratulations

  • @meins0815(70)· 2818d

    servus @steemchiller :)

Thanks for the continued development, as always. Especially nice to see that we can now create accounts and use Steem if our SP isn't high enough.

  • @iovoccae(41)· 2818d

Thank you so much @steemchiller really love using this great program you made, it's really awesome!

  • @afrog(69)· 2818d

    Sill standing?

Was meinst du?

    Chill on!

When I asked whether you could help make it possible for me to go back to see all my post if I want, you answered that it will take a few months, as you must transfer all the data to your own...well, something like that, or so I understood it.

What is important is that now you are telling us we are getting to that point and I am impressed that you have already managed it.

    Congrats and thank you

  • @shasta(70)· 2818d

Thank you very much @steemchiller! Always awesome to see a update from you! ☀ 🌟 ★ ✨ ⭐

  • @bashadow(70)· 2818d

Really nice to see you staying on top of all the steemit api change stuff. I am not a programmer but it is evident you will not be caught behind the power curve of lack of testing. It is nice to read that you have been testing the hivemind system, and that you are letting us know that there may be small glitches in the system till it all gets settled out. Thank you for your work and your system, I really do find it a valuable tool.

  • @melinda010100(80)· 2818d

    you are the best!

  • @roleerob(71)· 2818d

Always enjoy reading the “latest, greatest” from you @steemchiller. Love this …

”How will you survive the times of highly manipulated USD prices?”

    ”Work as always, post more.”

… as that is what I typically do. Face difficulties with resolve to persevere and work through them … The latest reinforcement, you’re my “kinda guy” … 👍

As a “contrarian,” I have significantly increased my Steem stake over the last few weeks. Even as this is written (the lowest overall market since I began to invest into this asset class in Aug 2017), looks like there will be plenty of opportunity for more “contrarian” transactions, if anyone is so inclined …

”As we know, SBD to STEEM conversions take 3.5 days to finish and after starting the process it has always been a bit confusing not to be able to see the progress of running conversions.”

Tried this feature of our Steem blockchain recently and anything you can do to help “the masses” (like me … 😉) will be much appreciated. Probably shouldn’t go as far as recommending when or when not to use the feature, as you most likely want no part of giving anyone “financial advice” that could come back to trouble you. However, anything you can do to help us make well-informed decisions would be great.

No … I don’t have any ideas on precisely how to do that, but thought I would at least “plant the seed” in the event you or others might.

Keep up the great work @steemchiller. Hopefully the teams at the core of keeping the blockchain running will not stumble in the face of the recent hardships. And we’ll all “survive” to see a better tomorrow!

  • @freewritehouse(74)· 2818d

So glad that you are going to keep going!! And keep bringing us new useful tools. Thank you!!

  • @newageinv(74)· 2819d

Keep up the great work! Is there any way to keep track of the medium price of STEEM being used for the conversion in progress? Would be a great addition for those of us that become anxious waiting to see the result. Also, maybe a calculator that demonstrates the profitability of the conversion based on the median price of STEEM from the prior 3.5 days? Just thoughts of tools that would be great! Thanks!

Steemworld.org is the best app on Steem blockchain. I use is every time to get information about my account and other steem related activities. I have transferred some basic attention tokens to steemworld through brave browser. I hope it will help a little dear @steemchiller.

Spectacular job. I don't know what site I visit the most at the moment. SteemWorld or Busy... :-)

  • @eddiespino(80)· 2819d

Great progress! And I'm happy that the development continues. I still haven't try to make an account, but I'm thinking of sponsor someone that is interested.

I would love to have a mobile version of the website or maybe a mobile app where you can check all the SteemWorld data.
