"10 Lives” is a simple and endearing children's film.

The film offers a colorful, clean and sunny animation, set on the English coast of Dorset, happily multiracial and modern, and an easy-to-follow storyline.

In that tale, the protagonist is a selfish cat, who has been recklessly milking his way through life, or lives, in search of the next meal and a comfortable lap, in search of redemption and is surrounded by well-meaning characters and villains reminiscent of other famous ones, such as Cruella de Vil and her minions.

His cynical attitude toward humans changes when he is adopted by Rose, a graduate student, and begins an idyllic life in her perfect cottage while she works on her study of the bee population for the stooped and distrustful Professor Craven

Beckett's basic selfishness doesn't change as a result of his new circumstances, however, and this already very fat cat loses his last life when he tries to keep Rose to himself by pettily getting rid of her boyfriend Larry

Now Beckett has to plead his case to Grace , the vet's assistant and celestial guardian, who gives him a chance, or nine, but it's not what he thinks.

As a film for younger audiences it is effective and underscores the value of second chances.

With nothing else of note, it is a reminder that “when you love those around you, one life is enough”.

A film that I fully recommend and that will make children and adults enjoy the 87 minutes it lasts.
