This weekend was all about watching science fiction movies, some older than others, and among them, I started watching 2012, remembering that years close to that one, there was a lot of nervousness on the part of people, because according to a supposed prediction of the Mayan calendar, the world was ending, and here we still are, and with the recent drastic climate changes, it was interesting for me to remember this film.
2012….
Released in 2009, under the direction of Roland Emmerich, and starring John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Thandie Newton, among others, they bring us on screen a production full of action and science fiction, where the apocalyptic and catastrophes take a greater focus.
What is the plot about?…
It all begins when a scientist discovers a series of solar flares that are generating a high heating of the earth's core, which will cause a chain of disasters on earth. The governmental entities being aware of this, initiate a project to save humanity, keeping everything classified and only very few will be able to participate in it, what will it be about?
After this, our protagonist Jackson Curtis appears, a science fiction writer and divorced father, who at first did not believe in these predictions of the end of the world, will witness the devastation he will face. To keep his family safe, he must cross the continent and get to where this project to save mankind is being carried out. The disasters that await him are of great dimension, so the danger will be latent at all times.
Personal opinion
When the movie was released, even the fact that it surrounded everything about the Mayan calendar, the fear and panic was felt in people, I even remember that it was criticized for increasing that anxiety in people that was at the touch, because the climatic changes at the time were being pronounced at that time. And, that really what the calendar indicated was the end of one cycle and the beginning of the other, I understood it as when we have a new year, something like that (if someone can clarify this, it would be better).
Anyway, to give my opinion, I will not rely on the scientific facts raised in this film, because I am not a scientist and much less I know if it really meets or has a lack of well-argued scientific approach, rather I will focus on the cinematography and the story as such. When I saw it for the first time, I found it exciting, full of many moments of action and there was not like that prolonged break that was safe as such and, the special effects were impressive to me.
When I saw it again, with other eyes that understand a little better the structure of a good story, I realized that the script was quite weak and that it was predictable in a way, very cliché would denote this film; I still like the special effects, even though I know what is going to happen, they are still decent and, when it comes down to it, it is entertaining despite its flaws, the action and the continuity of the catastrophes, leave you hooked. The cast was also quite good, for the most part, with good performances, despite the shallow development they have.
Positive points…
-Incredible special effects.
-Action and suspense throughout.
-Entertaining.
Negative points…
-A weak script.
-Characters with little depth and development, very cliché.

I feel that the strong point of this film was the time in which it was made, because it took advantage of the uncertainties surrounding the Mayan calendar and all this climate change, to give us a film that played with the tension and the catastrophic that can be generated on the planet earth, when the core of this is overheated, or at least, so they wanted to sell it. How true is it? Mmm I don't know, I only know that, what we were living now, are the results of a lot of pollution, experiments and more. We won't be sure, but we can't take for granted that it can't happen.

Este fin de semana fue de ver puras películas de ciencia ficción, unas más viejas que otras, y entre ellas, me puse a ver la de 2012, recordando que años cercanos a ese, hubo bastante nerviosismo por parte de las personas, porque a según acababa el mundo debido a una supuesta predicción del calendario Maya, y aquí aun estamos, y con los recientes cambios climáticos tan drásticos, se me hizo interesante rememorar de este filme.

Estrenado en el año 2009, bajo la dirección de Roland Emmerich, y del protagonismo de John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Thandie Newton, entre otros más, nos traen en pantalla una producción llena de acción y ciencia ficción, donde lo apocalíptico y las catástrofes toman un mayor enfoque.
¿De qué va la trama?…
Todo comienza cuando un científico descubre una serie de erupciones solares que, está generando un calentamiento elevado al núcleo de la tierra, lo que provocará una cadena de desastres en la tierra. Los entes gubernamentales al estar al tanto de ello, inician un proyecto para salvar a la humanidad, manteniendo todo clasificado y solo muy pocos podrán ser participes del mismo ¿de qué se tratará?
Tras esto, aparece nuestro protagonista Jackson Curtis, un escritor de ciencia ficción y padre divorciado, quien al inicio no creía en estas predicciones del fin del mundo, será testigo de la devastación a la que se enfrentará. Para mantener a su familia a salvo, deberá atravesar el continente y llegar a donde este proyecto para salvar a la humanidad se está llevando a cabo ¿será capaz de lograrlo? Los desastres que le aguarda son de gran dimensión, por lo que el peligro estará latente en todo momento.
Opinión personal
Cuando se estrenó la película, incluso el hecho que rodeaba a todo lo del calendario Maya, el miedo y el pánico se sentía en las personas, incluso recuerdo que fue criticada por aumentar esa ansiedad en las personas que estaba al toque, pues los cambios climáticos en su momento se estaban pronunciando en ese entonces. Y, que realmente lo que indicaba el calendario era el fin de un ciclo y el comienzo del otro, yo lo entendí como cuando tenemos un año nuevo, algo así (si alguien puede aclarar esto, seria mejor).
En fin, para dar mi opinión, no me basaré en los hechos científicos planteados en este film, porque no soy científica y muchos menos sé si en verdad cumple o tiene falta de planteamiento científico bien argumentado, más bien me enfocaré en la cinematografía y la historia como tal. Cuando la vi por primera vez, me resultó emocionante, llena de muchos momentos de acción y no había como ese descanso prolongado de que estuviese a salvo como tal y, los efectos especiales se me hicieron impresionantes.
Al volverla a ver, con otros ojos que entienden un poquito mejor la estructura de una buena historia, me di cuenta que el guion fue bastante flojo y que era predecible en cierta manera, muy cliché se denotaría esta película; los efectos especiales me siguen gustando, a pesar de que ya se lo que va a ocurrir, no dejan de ser decentes y que, a la hora de la verdad, es entretenida a pesar de sus fallos, la acción y la continuidad de las catástrofes, te dejan enganchados. El elenco también fue bastante bueno, en su mayoría, con buenas interpretaciones, a pesar del desarrollo poco profundo que tienen.

-Acción y suspenso en todo momento.
-Entretenida.
Puntos negativos…
-Un guion flojo.
-Personajes con poca profundidad y desarrollo, muy clichés.

Siento que el punto fuerte de este filme, fue la época en que se hizo, pues aprovechó de esas incertidumbres que rodeaba el tema del calendario Maya y de todo esto del cambio climático, para darnos una película que jugara con la tensión y lo catastrófico que puede llegar a generarse en el planeta tierra, cuando el núcleo de esta se sobrecalienta, o por lo menos, así lo quisieron vender. ¿Qué tan cierto sea? Mmm no lo sé, solo sé que, lo que estábamos viviendo ahora, son resultados de mucha contaminación, experimentos y más ¿Qué llegue a ocurrir algo como la película? No estaremos seguros, pero tampoco se puede dar por hecho que no pueda ocurrir.
En fin, ¿Qué piensa ustedes de esta película y lo que esta pasando actualmente con el clima? Los leo.
