It is a 2021 American horror thriller film produced by Blumhouse.
A female real estate agent realizes that her husband is cheating on her and confronts him about it. They decide to go to a house in the bayou to hang out and take pictures to sell the house and two weird people arrive...

I've seen a lot of films, some interesting, some funny and some tragically lame. However, today I watched an exceptional film because it turns the whole concept of evil upside down. Faith, evil and Louisiana are the perfect combination.
If you are expecting this film to be another Funny Games-like kidnapping and torture movie, you may be disappointed, it's not about torture, it's about redemption. Sounds irrational? Well, great films always arouse first surprise and then fascination.
The film has many references to the Bible and for good reason as the whole film is based around crime and punishment. It is not a horror film, more of a Thriller that leads the viewer by the hand through this sublime exposition full of suffering and madness to finally reveal the truth.
Although I liked the film very much, I have to complain about the finale. The epilogue creates an unnecessary cult around the other plot, which unfortunately suffers a little in terms of plot and meaning.
The film is first and foremost about truth and the fact that a lie always leads to an open door (an explanation in the film), it is not a revealing work, but it manoeuvres neatly between a kidnapping film and just something more.
The evil in this film is specific, while we as viewers think something is evil, the director neatly turns the concept around 180 degrees creating something interesting to the eye and surprising. The film shows that every evil person faces the consequences they have on others. One mistake can change a lot, but the next one destroys everyone.
The director had a great idea to weave biblical themes into the story, but don't worry, no one in the film is throwing slogans around, it's more about the darker side.
The script is created so that the main character can be interpreted in different ways, whether he is a positive or negative character, as he describes himself. The finale, or rather the epilogue, spoils the whole idea, but before that it is one of the best films about justice and evil that has come out recently.

Wiele filmów widziałem, jedne były ciekawe, inne śmieszne, a jeszcze inne tragicznie kiepskie. Jednak dziś obejrzałem wyjątkowy film, gdyż wywraca cały koncept zła do góry nogami. Wiara, zło oraz Luizjana to idealne połączenie.
Jeśli spodziewacie się po tym filmie, ze będzie to kolejny film o porwaniu i torturowaniu rodziny niczym z Funny Games to jednak tutaj możecie się zawieźć, nie jest o torturach,a ich odkupieniu. Brzmi irracjonalnie? No cóż świetne filmy zawsze wzbudzają pierw zaskoczenie, a później fascynacje.
Film ma wiele odniesień do Biblii i nie bez powodu gdyż cały film opiera się o zbrodni i karze. To nie jest horror, bardziej Thriller, który prowadzi widza za rękę po tej wysublimowanej ekspozycji pełnej cierpienia i szaleństwa by ostatecznie ukazać prawdę.
Mimo, ze film mi się bardzo podobał to jednak do finału się muszę przyczepić. O ile zgrabnie został zakończony pewien wątek tak epilog tworzy nie potrzebny kult wokół drugiego wątku co niestety trochę cierpi fabularnie i wymownie.
Film jest przede wszystkim o prawdzie i o tym, ze kłamstwo zawsze prowadzi do otwartych drzwi ( wyjaśnienie w filmie), nie jest to odkrywcze dzieło, ale zgrabnie manewruje między filmem o porwaniu, a właśnie czymś więcej.
Zło w tym filmie jest specyficzne, o ile my jako widzowie wydaje nam się coś złe, tak reżyser zgrabnie zamienia koncept o 180 stopni tworząc coś ciekawego dla oka i zaskakującego. Film pokazuje, ze każde zło mierzy sie ze swoimi konsekwencjami które wywierają na innych. Jeden błąd może zmienić wiele, ale kolejne niszczą wszystkich.
Reżyser miał świetny pomysł by wpleść w cała opowieść właśnie wątki biblijne, ale bez obaw nikt w filmie nie rzuca hasłami, bardziej chodzi o ta mroczniejsza stronę.
Scenariusz jest tak stworzony by moc różnie interpretować głównego bohatera czy jest to postać pozytywna czy negatywna jak sam siebie określa. Finał, a raczej epilog trochę cały zamysł psuje, ale przed tym jest to jeden z najlepszych filmów o sprawiedliwości i złu jakie w ostatnim czasie wyszły.
Dodam jeszcze, ze film nie jest brutalny, tutaj akcja sie toczy na wykazaniu swoich grzechów, chociaż są ofiary to są ukazane tak by nie wzbudzić w widzu niesmaku. Polecam serdecznie jeden z lepszych filmów tego roku.
