Mi gente bella, feliz año 2026, para todos ustedes, un nuevo comienzo y que Dios traiga muchas cosas buenas para todos. Y en este año seguiremos con la revista sobre las telenovelas de Venezuela, vamos a seguir contando sus historias, asi que aqui les dejo la ediciòn de este 1 de enero, y que mejor que comenzar con una de las producciones mas emblematicas del pais.

Abigail es una de las telenovelas más icónicas y exitosas de la televisión venezolana, producida por RCTV entre 1988 y 1989. Basada en la historia original de Inés Rodena (especialmente en la segunda parte de Raquel), se convirtió en un fenómeno de masas no solo en Venezuela, sino también en España y varios países de Latinoamérica, consolidando a la pareja conformada por Catherine Fulop y Fernando Carrillo.
La historia sigue a Abigail Guzmán (Catherine Fulop), la hija caprichosa, rebelde y hermosa de un acaudalado empresario. Abigail estudia en el colegio San Lázaro, donde se enamora perdidamente de su profesor de literatura, Carlos Alfredo Ruiz (Fernando Carrillo). Tras lograr conquistarlo, la trama da un giro dramático cuando ella queda embarazada y, en un momento de crisis nerviosa y desvarío mental, regala a su hijo recién nacido a una mujer desconocida. La novela abarca varios años, mostrando la odisea de Abigail por recuperar a su hijo (quien reaparece años después como un joven apodado "Cheíto") y el amor de Carlos Alfredo, mientras enfrenta la rivalidad de las gemelas María Clara y María Begoña (Hilda Abrahamz).
Abigail fue una de las producciones más largas de RCTV, manteniendo niveles de audiencia altísimos durante toda su transmisión. El éxito radicó en la química real entre Fulop y Carrillo (quienes se casaron en la vida real poco después) y en una trama que mezclaba el romance juvenil con temas intensos como la locura, el extravío de hijos y los conflictos de clase. La actuación de Hilda Abrahamz en el doble papel de las gemelas es recordada como una de las mejores de su carrera. Además, la banda sonora con el tema "Selva" se convirtió en un clásico del pop venezolano de los años 80.
Abigail no solo fue un éxito de sintonía, sino un producto de exportación que abrió mercados internacionales para las producciones de RCTV. Es considerada un pilar de la época de oro de la telenovela venezolana y el trampolín que lanzó a Catherine Fulop al estrellato mundial.

Hello everyone here at Hive and the dear Movies and TV Shows community, I hope you're all doing great... after having it on hold for quite some time, I finally got to watch the movie: Abigail. And I have quite a bit to say... where do I start? If you like horror with comedy, those movies that don't take themselves seriously, but at the same time give you some good scares and lots of blood, you'll have a great time, because Abigail is totally crazy... imagine this: what happens if some kidnappers realize that the girl they kidnapped is a vampire? That's the twist... and believe me, it's as twisted and awesome as it sounds... ever since the beginning, I couldn't help but think of Megan... and she really did a pretty average job of horror and comedy, but Abigail... seemed much better to me, while Megan was already a funny mix of horror and laughter, Abigail kicks it up a notch, with a ton of irony and even a touch of madness that makes you burst out laughing... the directors seem to be winking at you all the time, reminding you that they're aware of the plot.
The movie has a mischievous energy, but it's also sincere, as if they really wanted to surprise you at every twist... things start off a little slow, introducing us to some kidnappers who seem normal, who kidnap a girl, and that's where they discover that the girl isn't your typical princess in trouble, without spoiling too much, it turns out she's a thousand-year-old vampire who loves to play with her victims. I thought it was a super fresh idea, it's not every day you see a vampire that is both terrifying and playful, especially with that dark humor that sometimes turns out to be really cool.
Hola a todos amigos de Hive, y querida comunidad de Movies and TV Shows, espero que estén genial.. luego de tenerla en espera por bastante tiempo, por fin pude ver la película: Abigail. Y tengo bastante que decir.. ¿por dónde empiezo? Si a ustedes les gusta el terror con comedia, de esas pelis que no se toman nada en serio, pero que al mismo tiempo te dan unos buenos sustos y sangre por montones, la pasarán genial, porque Abigail es una locura total.. imagínense esto: ¿qué pasa si unos secuestradores se dan cuenta de que la chica que raptaron es vampira? Ese es el giro.. y créanme, es tan retorcido y genial como suena.. desde que empezó, no pude evitar pensar en Megan.. y es que dejó la vara muy regular en esto del terror con comedia, pero Abigail... me pareció mucho mejor, mientras que Megan ya era una mezcla chistosa de horror y risas, Abigail le mete turbo, con un montón de ironía y hasta un toque de locura que te hace soltar la carcajada.. los directores como que te están guiñando el ojo todo el tiempo, recordándote que ellos están conscientes de la jugada.
La peli tiene una energía como de travesura, pero también es sincera, como si de verdad quisieran sorprenderte en cada vuelta de tuerca.. la cosa arranca un poquito lenta, presentándonos a unos secuestradores que parecen normales, que secuestran a una niña, y ahí es donde descubren que la nena no es la típica princesa en apuros, sin spoilearles mucho, resulta que es una vampira milenaria a la que le encanta jugar con sus víctimas. A mí me pareció una idea súper fresca, no todos los días ves una vampira que sea a la vez aterradora y juguetona, sobre todo con ese humor negro que a veces se pone bien genial.
I really liked how the movie juggles horror, blood and comedy. There are a lot of super creative deaths that stick with you, bloody, but not too disgusting, you know what I mean? The movie is an expert at turning what we already know about horror on its head. For example, instead of the typical sad and dark vampire, this one shamelessly mocks her captors, giving a total twist to the vampire story... I laughed, I jumped up and down in fright and, at times, I felt a bit disturbed... and sometimes all at the same time! The design of the movie is on another level... the mansion where most of the action takes place is like another character, with that gothic vibe, the creaking hallways, the creepy shadows and the luxurious but old decoration, create the perfect atmosphere for this twisted story... the practical effects deserve applause, they give it that classic horror vibe that computers can't imitate, and seeing the blood splatter for real and not on the screen is much more real, and that adds an extra touch to the most intense moments.
And speaking of real things, I can't pass up the vampire's ballet! Yes, you heard right, ballet... it's one of those crazy but great ideas that make Abigail unique, at first I thought "Oh, this is going to go overboard!", but then came some key scenes where the ballet fit perfectly... seeing her move with the grace and precision of a dancer while letting out all her vampire side is hypnotic, really! Still, there are moments where they may have gone a little overboard with the ballet, but in the important scenes it elevates the film to something almost poetic in the midst of chaos.
Me gustó mucho cómo la película hace malabares con el terror, la sangre y la comedia, hay un montón de muertes súper creativas y que te quedan grabadas, sangrientas, pero sin pasarse al asco, ¿me entienden? La peli es experta en darle la vuelta a lo que ya conocemos del terror, por ejemplo, en vez de la típica vampira triste y oscura, esta se burla sin pena de sus captores, dándole un giro total a la historia de los vampiros.. me reí, pegué unos brincos del susto y, en algunos momentos, me sentí medio perturbado... ¡y a veces todo al mismo tiempo! El diseño de la peli es otro nivel.. la mansión donde pasa casi toda la acción es como otro personaje más, con esa onda gótica, los pasillos que crujen, las sombras que dan cosita y la decoración lujosa pero vieja, crean el ambiente perfecto para esta historia retorcida.. los efectos prácticos, se merecen un aplauso, le dan esa onda clásica de terror que las computadoras no pueden imitar, y es que ver la sangre salpicar de verdad y no en la pantalla es mucho más real, y eso le añade un toque extra a los momentos más intensos.
Y hablando de cosas reales, ¡no puedo dejar pasar el ballet de la vampira! Sí, ¡escucharon bien, ballet.. es una de esas ideas locas pero geniales que hacen que Abigail sea única, al principio pensé "¡Uy, esto se va a pasar de la raya!", pero luego llegaron unas escenas claves donde el ballet encajó perfecto.. verla moverse con la gracia y la precisión de una bailarina mientras suelta todo su lado vampírico es hipnótico, ¡de verdad! Igual, hay momentos donde quizás se pasaron un poquito con el ballet, pero en las escenas importantes eleva la película a algo casi poético en medio del caos.
But not everything about Abigail is perfect… the film suffers from uneven pacing—the introduction is slow and sets up the mystery adequately, but the pace picks up explosively at the end. This shift works very well for the conclusion, but leaves the middle of the story feeling a bit forced at times. I also felt that the supporting characters, aside from our very imposing vampire protagonist, didn’t get the development they deserved… their stories are left on the surface, which is a missed opportunity in an otherwise very well-crafted narrative.
And speaking of forced moments, the third act twists sometimes feel a little contrived, as if the writers were rushing to keep us glued to the film. Still, these minor flaws didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the film, they simply reminded me that even the boldest experiments can have their stumbles. Even with these flaws, it’s impossible not to appreciate the self-awareness of the story. There’s a constant undercurrent of humor that pokes fun at the genre itself, and I found that immensely enjoyable. The witty dialogue and references create a great commentary on horror clichés that feels both refreshing and clever. It’s as if the film is saying, “Yeah, we know these are clichés, but let’s have fun with them anyway!” That kind of self-referential humor is what really sets Abigail apart from other films that can lean too far into one tone or another.
Pero no todo en Abigail es perfecto.. la película padece de un ritmo desigual—la introducción es lenta y establece el misterio de forma adecuada, pero el ritmo se acelera de manera explosiva en el final.. este cambio funciona muy bien para la conclusión, pero deja el medio de la historia sintiéndose algo forzado en ocasiones, también sentí que los personajes secundarios, aparte de nuestra protagonista vampírica tan imponente, no recibieron el desarrollo que merecían.. sus historias se quedan en la superficie, lo cual es una oportunidad perdida en una narrativa que, en su conjunto, está muy bien armada.
Y, hablando de momentos forzados, los giros en el tercer acto a veces resultan un poco artificiales, como si los guionistas se apresuraran a mantenernos pegados.. aun así, estos pequeños fallos no opacaron el disfrute general de la película, simplemente me recordaron que incluso los experimentos más audaces pueden tener sus tropiezos.. aun con estos defectos, es imposible no apreciar la autoconciencia de la historia.. hay un constante trasfondo de humor que se burla del propio género, y eso lo hice disfrutar muchísimo, los diálogos ingeniosos y las referencias crean un comentario genial sobre los clichés del terror que se siente tanto refrescante como inteligente.. es como si la película dijera, “Sí, sabemos que estos son clichés, pero ¡vamos a divertirnos con ellos de todas formas!” Ese tipo de humor autorefencial es lo que realmente distingue a Abigail de otras películas que pueden inclinarse demasiado hacia un tono u otro.
The mix of terror, black humor and that lack of respect that Abigail has towards the horror genre, make it a movie that fans have to see yes or yes.. if you like those movies that are not afraid to put crazy scares, it is for you, I finished watching it with a smile from ear to ear, shaking my head at the craziest things I saw.. What surprised me the most is that Abigail exceeded all my expectations.. I was thinking "let's see another vampire movie with jokes", but it was much more than that, it is a movie that invites you to laugh at terror without forgetting where it comes from, and that mix is super difficult to achieve.. I was hooked from beginning to end, I had a lot of fun and I even felt connected to the story..
So, if you are looking for a movie with a gothic mansion, a vampire story different from all the others and a humor that does not keep quiet, Abigail is your ticket to a great experience.. It is a movie that surprises you all the time with its intelligent dialogues and that "we know what we're doing" vibe. I give Abigail an 8/10. Yes, sometimes the movie goes a little fast and some characters don't get that much development, but the creativity and the desire to do something different make up for it... it doesn't matter if you're a horror fan or if you like to laugh while you get scared, Abigail deserves a chance. Have you seen any movie that makes you laugh and shiver at the same time? La mezcla de terror, humor negro y esa falta de respeto que tiene Abigail hacia el género del terror, la hacen una peli que los fans tienen que ver sí o sí.. si te gustan esas pelis que no tienen miedo de meterle locura a los sustos, es para ti, yo la termine de ver con una sonrisa de oreja a oreja, moviendo la cabeza por las cosas más locas que vi.. Lo que más me sorprendió es que Abigail superó todas mis expectativas.. yo iba pensando "a ver otra peli de vampiros con chistes", pero fue mucho más que eso, es una peli que te invita a reírte del terror sin olvidar de dónde viene, y esa mezcla es súper difícil de lograr.. me enganché de principio a fin, me divertí un montón y hasta me sentí conectado con la historia..
Así que, si andas buscando una película con una mansión gótica, una historia de vampiros diferente a todas y un humor que no se calla nada, Abigail es tu pase a una experiencia genial.. Es una peli que te sorprende todo el tiempo con sus diálogos inteligentes y esa onda de "nosotros sabemos lo que estamos haciendo". Le doy a Abigail un 8/10. Sí, a veces la peli va un poco rápido y algunos personajes no se desarrollan tanto, pero la creatividad y las ganas de hacer algo diferente lo compensan.. no importa si eres fanático del terror o si te gusta reírte mientras te asustas, Abigail merece que le des una oportunidad. ¿Has visto alguna peli que te haga reír y temblar al mismo tiempo? When I got used to the lives of vampires in the Twilight movie series and started to find them sympathetic, I thought I could get used to the dancing vampire figure...
...but not after watching the 2024 movie Abigail! First of all, I would like to say that the movie successfully handled and reflected the thriller-horror genre. For the story of the movie, I can say that it is the kind where the prey and the predator switch places. It's fun to watch this kind of story and to see the logic of chase and flight working in reverse.
A group of criminals with a dark past kidnap a 12-year-old ballerina named Abigail (played by Alisha Weir) and imprison her in a house for 24 hours. Up to this point, the movie is an adventure and a simple ransom case. One of the first questions that comes to mind is, how hard can it be to hold a 12-year-old girl for a short time?
The answer to that question is hidden in the rest of the movie, and the rest of the movie takes place after the prey and the predator switch places, as the tension blends with fear and turns into a struggle for survival in a house that is closed on all sides.
In terms of viewing pleasure, the movie was quite successful. The shifting elements in the story are important in this because after the kidnapping of the girl; first the sense of curiosity is triggered, then the prey and the hunter are switched and a tremendous story flow is achieved. The pace of the story and the change in the roles of the characters make for excellent viewing pleasure.
What I liked the most about the movie was the way the plot, which takes place in a limited and confined space, was reflected. Until the very end you have no idea how the movie will end, or rather you have ideas but none of them come true. The movie had an unexpected and very unpredictable ending. This shows the success of the script.
My favorite scene was the opening scene of the movie. The movie starts with the ballet dance of the character Abigail, and the scene in question gives the main character an incredible innocence and purity. After a while, Abigail's character evolves and takes on a completely different role, which was the biggest mystery of the story. I love to see such twists in the story or at the end of the movie.
Alisha Weir, who plays the character of Abigail, was the most outstanding actress performance. Alisha Weir single-handedly kept the movie gripping with her dual character reflection. I include the final scene because she perfectly reflected the ebb and flow of her character.
Abigail is one of the best thriller-horror movies I have seen recently and I highly recommend you to watch it. The story progression, the script and the performances of the actors were very successful. The only criticism I can make about the movie is that at the moments when the level of fear was high, the level of fear was lowered with some jokes between the characters. The horror level of the movie dropped because of a few laugh-out-loud dialogues that I personally found unnecessary.
