La película que hoy les traigo, "About Fate" la estaba esperando desde que vi el trailer, no sé por qué razón exactamente me atrajo verla pero por fin pude verla ayer y pude entender un poco lo que me despertó el interés por verla.

The movie that I bring you today, "About Fate" I was waiting for it since I saw the trailer, I don't know why exactly I was attracted to see it but I finally got to see it yesterday and I could understand a little what woke me up interest in seeing it.

Amazon Prime es la encargada de llevarse la producción de esta película rom-com con un toque navideño, lo cual he podido notar mucho en las producciones navideñas de este año que han estrenado los grandes espacios de streaming, aunque no es algo nuevo, creo que si se ha vuelto una especie de factor en común.

Amazon Prime is in charge of producing this film rom-com with a Christmas touch, which I have been able to notice a lot in the Christmas productions this year that have been released by the big streaming spaces, although it is not something new, I think it has become a kind of common factor.

La película es una nueva versión de una película soviética de 1976 llamada "La ironía del destino". Es una historia con una trama original, parte desde la vida de Griffin Reed (Thomas Mann) y Margot Hayes (Emma Roberts), dos individuos que son completos extraños y que por cuestiones del "destino" se verán envuelto en un extraño incidente en donde se confunden de casa y ahí comienza a desarrollarse la historia entre ambos.

The movie is a remake of a 1976 Soviet movie called "The Irony of Fate". It is a story with an original plot, part from the life of Griffin Reed (Thomas Mann) and Margot Hayes (Emma Roberts), two individuals who are complete strangers and for reasons of "destiny" will find themselves involved in a strange incident where they get their house confused and that's where the story between them begins to develop.

Aunque ambos se encuentran en una relación amorosa cuando se conocen (o algo así), no es sino hasta más adentrada la película en la que comienzan a acercarse el uno al otro de forma más romántica y algo más allá de una "casualidad" comienza a crecer entre ellos dos. Hay momentos dentro de la película en la que todo tiene sentido como hay otros en los que siento que se desvían ligeramente de la historia principal aunque todo termina funcionando a la perfección.

Although both are in a loving relationship when they meet (or something like that), it is not until later in the film that they begin to get closer to each other in a more romantic way and something beyond a "chance" begins to grow between the two of them. There are moments within the film where everything makes sense, just as there are others where I feel they deviate slightly from the main story, although everything ends up working perfectly.

Ver a Emma en una película pocas veces decepciona, es una gran actriz y siempre trae a escena un toque de comedia en medio de momentos en los que puede considerarse una escena dramática o con un peso más serio para la trama. Es una actriz como pocas y para el género creo que fue la indicada para llevar este papel tan interesante desde el punto de vista humano.

Seeing Emma in a movie rarely disappoints, she's a great actress and always brings a touch of comedy to the scene in between moments where it could be considered a dramatic scene or with more serious weight to the plot . She is an actress like few others and for the genre I think she was the one to take on this role that is so interesting from a human point of view.

Con respecto a Thomas Mann, creo que esta es la primera película en la que lo veo llevando el papel protagónico y me pareció genial su trabajo. Fue gracioso pero entregó una actuación creíble, aunque por momentos algo cursi (tal cual con Emma pero creo que fue más la historia que lo que ellos pudieron haberme transmitido).

As for Thomas Mann, I think this is the first movie where I've seen him playing the leading role and I thought his work was great. It was funny but he delivered a believable performance, if at times a little cheesy (just like with Emma but I think it was more the story than what they could have conveyed to me).

Madelaine Petsch y Lewis Tan hicieron un trabajo sencillo y no fue muy notorio dentro de la historia aunque si fueron necesarios no hay mucho que resaltar de sus actuaciones. Britt Robertson fue la encarnación de la novia histérica y creo que es repetitivo el hecho de siempre colocar a una novia como una mujer siempre alterada y al punto de un colapso nervioso; más allá de eso su papel me gustó y me habría gustado ver más de ella.

Madelaine Petsch and Lewis Tan did a simple job and it was not very noticeable within the story although if they were necessary there is not much to highlight from their performances. Britt Robertson was the incarnation of the hysterical girlfriend and I think it's repetitive the fact of always portraying a girlfriend as a woman always upset and on the point of a nervous breakdown; Beyond that, I liked her role and I would have liked to see more of her.

Los momentos de rom-com no faltaron pero creo que fueron tolerables, al menos para mi. Tal vez para muchos les parezcan demasiado, esta vez puedo decir que no fueron mucho para mi. Pero no crean que no se encontrarán con ellos en esta película porque si lo harán. Creo que el momento más rom-com que más me gustó estuvo relacionado con una historia de una pareja de esposos que contó su historia de matrimonio, esos minutos me parecieron muy bonitos y provechosos para la historia.

The rom-com moments were not lacking but I think they were tolerable, at least for me. Perhaps for many they seem too much, this time I can say that they were not much for me. But don't think you won't meet them in this movie because you will. I think the most rom-com moment that I liked the most was related to a story of a married couple who told their marriage story, those minutes seemed very beautiful and useful for the story.

Y como buena película ambientada en la temporada navideña, no podía faltar la nieve hecha de efectos especiales; pero debo decir que esta no me molestó tanto como en otras producciones y les diré por qué; primero, no hubo un exceso de uso de este recurso lo cual fue muy bueno, solo en un momento preciso de la película fue utilizado y lo mezclaron bien con nieve falsa y por otro lado, al no ser una película navideña sino más bien ambientada en la navidad, no fue tan pronunciado el uso de la nieve, eso estuvo a favor de la película, a mi parecer.

And as a good movie set in the Christmas season, the snow made of special effects could not be missing; but I must say that this one did not bother me as much as in other productions and I will tell you why; First, there was no excessive use of this resource, which was very good, it was only used at a precise moment in the film and they mixed it well with fake snow and on the other hand, since it was not a Christmas movie but rather set in Christmas, the use of snow was not so pronounced, that was in favor of the film, in my opinion.

¿Es "About Fate" una película navideña? No, para nada. Como lo dije anteriormente, a mi parecer es más ambientada en la navidad y hay una cierta relación entre la historia y esta temporada del año pero no forma parte de la trama original, es decir, puede ser que la historia de esta película ocurra en pascua, Día de San Valentín, Acción de Gracias, en fin, en cualquier época del año. No hay una conexión directa pero si hay momentos en los que mencionan que hay una cierta importancia con que se desarrolle durante la navidad.

Is "About Fate" a Christmas movie? Not at all. As I said before, in my opinion it is more set at Christmas and there is a certain relationship between the story and this season of the year but it is not part of the original plot, that is, it may be that the story of this film occurs on Easter , Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, in short, any time of the year. There is no direct connection but there are times when they mention that there is a certain importance with which it develops during Christmas.

En la producción estuvo genial, locaciones, guión, música y cast. La duración del film fue buena, no sentí que había material extra, de relleno, con el fin de alargar la película o darle espacio a contenido innecesario; 1 y 40 minutos bastó para abordar la historia y crear una línea de tiempo que desarrolló a todos los personajes de manera completa y sin dejar cabos sueltos.

In the production it was great, locations, script, music and cast. The duration of the film was good, I did not feel that there was extra material, filler, in order to lengthen the film or give space to unnecessary content; 1 and 40 minutes was enough to tackle the story and create a timeline that developed all the characters fully and without leaving loose ends.

Entre todas las películas navideñas de este año, creo que "About Fate" sería de las pocas producciones que volvería a repetir sin problema porque tiene esa cualidad de que aunque, ciertamente, tiene sus momentos cursi y algo predecibles, creo que se puede disfrutar en buena compañía y pasar un rato agradable viéndola, no esperando una súper película pero si un film bien hecho y con una historia fresca y entretenida.

Among all the Christmas movies this year, I think "About Fate" would be one of the few productions that I would repeat without a problem because it has that quality that although, certainly, it has its cheesy and somewhat predictable moments, I think you can enjoy yourself in good company and have a good time watching it, not expecting a super movie, but a well-made film with a fresh and entertaining story.
