Anime Review ~ Ahiru no Sora – Basketball, Brotherhood and Big Hopes@psyberkid356d
Hello everyone, I hope you are all well. Today I am here to tell you about a passionate sports anime. Where everything depends on the bond between emotions and breaking boundaries. I would like to introduce you to the show called Ahiru no Sora. Where a young boy has the courage to have a big dream to revive a ruined basketball team that has nothing but heart and dedication.
Story Summary
Ahiru no Sora is the story of a short but enthusiastic basketball player named Sora Kurumatani. Although he is shorter than his rivals, Sora is a sports enthusiast and his strong participation in the game is motivated by a vow he made to his bedridden mother. He is determined and quite eager to join the basketball club of Kujuryu High School but disappointingly there are some players in the club who do not want to play basketball.
But Sora refuses to give up and he demonstrates his skill, strength, and love for basketball, slowly beginning to attract the attention of the club members. Chiaki Momoharu and the other characters begin to see the potential in themselves and in becoming a real team. The anime is not just about matches, it shows personal growth, emotional problems, and friendships that are gained along the way.
Unlike most sports anime that rely on overwhelming skill, Ahiru no Sora is rooted in reality. Both characters are flawed and have internal conflicts as well as their pasts that shape them. It's not easy, and winning is not a piece of cake. But that's what makes it so real.
My Review
Ahiru no Sora had a poignant narrative and realistic roots that drew me in. It doesn't showcase instant success; it develops through a lot of hardship and effort, failure, and emotional turmoil. Sora is very determined and his willpower is easily contagious to the readers and I for one started to root for him and the whole team as we started to learn more about their personalities and issues.
The animation may not be as smooth as some of the newer sports anime. But it does serve this kind of tough reality of the story well. The touching moments especially the scenes of Sora's relationship with his mother are really tough. I also liked that this anime touched on heavy or dark topics like family stress, personal trauma and the meaning of dreaming.
Ahiru no Sora If you are into stories of dream fulfillment, slice of life sports drama and good character development then this is a must watch. It's not about winning the game, it's about more than just the scoreboard. It teaches a lesson in life.
Thanks you so much for reading. See you next :)

Hello everyone, dear The Anime Realm community.. I hope you are doing super well today, this time I want to share with you all my opinions and review about a pretty good anime.. as some of you may know, I really like sports anime, so I try to watch most of the sports anime that catch my attention or are moderately good.. today I will talk about one of them, I want to share my expectations of the anime: Ahiru no Sora. I finished it recently and it is an anime that feels different.. as a person who has consumed quite a few sports anime, I have seen how most of them can become very exaggerated.. with surreal and crazy movements that completely defy the laws of physics. Making it, while entertaining, not seem at all consistent with reality, but, unexpectedly, this anime was none of that.. it presents us with a raw, emotional, and above all very realistic story. I found it to be a breath of fresh air in the vast world of sports anime, Ahiru no Sora is about basketball, but it's not just about this sport... it's about life in general, growing up and how you have to overcome certain obstacles even when everything is against you.
The protagonist is Sora, a short and feisty boy who is absolutely obsessed with basketball... he is inspired by his mother, who is usually a professional player, but here comes the twist... When he transfers to a new school, he discovers that the basketball team is a joke, it's full of delinquents, idiots, who don't care about the sport at all... and this is where the story starts to move. One of the things I loved the most about this anime is how it focuses on the process, you see these characters fail, fight, and get back up again, again, and again. It's not just about instant wins or miraculous turns that make their superhuman abilities shine, but on the contrary, it's about putting in the effort, learning from your mistakes, and building something meaningful together. It's honestly so inspiring. I'm not even interested in basketball, it's one of the sports that attracts my attention the least, but this anime made me a little more interested in sports dynamics and everything related to teamwork in this sport.
As for the characters, they are, I think, one of the best things this story has going for them. They are the soul of the anime, Sora is a great protagonist, but the supporting cast also does amazingly, for example, Momoharu is the classic tough guy with a huge grudge, but deep down he has a true passion for basketball.. his journey from being a disillusioned ex-player to becoming a leader is just spectacular. And then there’s Chiaki, his brother, who is one of the comic reliefs the series has, but he’s also a genius on the court.. his laid back attitude can be frustrating at times, but you can’t help but root for him. And obviously let’s not forget Kenshin, aka Milano, this guy is a powerhouse, both on and off the court, he has a classic tough facade, but his backstory pulls right at your heart.. without giving too many details, let’s just say that he’s been through a lot and basketball becomes his way of coping and finding his own purpose.. honestly, his character arc alone is worth watching this series.
One of the things that really sets this anime apart from others, is how it handles drama, and by drama I don’t mean any of the over-the-top soap opera type nonsense.. this is a well-made drama, it’s subtle, emotional, and incredibly relatable.. for example, there are certain issues with the health of the protagonists’ families and they are really heartbreaking arcs, you can feel all of their pain, their frustration, and their determination to keep going.. it’s moments like these where you realize that this isn’t simply a story about basketball, yes, it involves a team, but it’s a story that goes much deeper.. it’s a series that is about life itself.
Now, I have to admit that the pacing can be a little disconcerting at times.. there were times where I thought “okay, this is going to move the plot forward” but I didn’t. I think that, although it can certainly benefit the series, because we go into a lot more depth with the characters.. it gives you time to connect with them and understand all their struggles, but, in a way, there is a certain point where you wish to see a little more dynamism. Also, these little pauses that I mentioned are good, because they make all the little victories feel so much more rewarding.. it’s like that feeling of having worked hard for something and it finally paying off, that’s one of the good things about this anime..
And the animation, well, I thought it was pretty decent, it’s not revolutionary, but it gets the job done.. what really stands out is the attention to detail in the basketball scenes, of course.. you can tell that the creators did their homework, the plays, the strategies, the way the characters move on the court, everything feels very authentic. And I thought the soundtrack was pretty good too. The opening and ending themes are certainly catchy, and the background music adds some emotional weight to the scenes, which is a nice bonus. One thing that surprised me was how much time this anime spends on the supporting characters. In most sports anime, the backups and side characters are just there to fill space, but not here. Everyone gets their moment to shine in the series, and you see how basketball can really impact all of their lives, even in different ways. It’s a reminder that everyone is in a place for a specific purpose, following their own journey, and I found that quite beautiful, no one is out of place.
As I was saying, this anime leans more on realism.. if you are expecting super flashy moves or exaggerated superhuman abilities, then you might be quite disappointed. But if you are looking for a series that perfectly captures the toughness and effort of real basketball, then this might be your anime.. here the losses hurt, the victories are earned, and the training sessions will make you want to get up from the couch and actually do something productive. I really like that this anime is about many things at once, it is not just about the games or the sport, but it is really about all the effort and passion behind everything that goes into playing basketball.
The end of the season left me super hooked, I laughed, cried, and cheered.. it is impossible not to yell at the screen a couple of times, and the ending leaves you wanting more, I am crossing my fingers that they bring us a second season, because it really is a story that has a lot of potential.. I have been deeply interested in knowing what is going to happen with these characters. So, would I recommend Ahiru no Sora? Absolutely, like everything, it’s not perfect… the pacing could be a bit tighter, and the animation could be even a lot better… but I like that it has a lot of essence and heart of its own, if you like sports anime and you want a much more mature and dramatic approach, then give it a chance. I give it a rating of 8.5/10. It’s an interesting experience… well, that would be all for today… I hope you liked this review, I’ll leave the opening a little further down so you can take a look. See you in the next ones. Take care of yourselves. Bye bye.
Entonces, ¿recomendaría Ahiru no Sora? Bye bye.

›Ahiru no Sora (anime and manga): Deserves More Recognition... <3@tegoshei850d
I recently just caught up with the latest chapter of ***Ahiru no Sora*** and I am more than excited and full of anticipation for the anime version. So far, the anime has 50 episodes the last of which was aired around September of 2020. Since then, there hasn't been any announcement.
I've read some forums saying that it's unlikely to have a second season because of the poor reception of the anime and the mangaka allegedly didn't like the animated version. I don't know how true that is, but I actually love both the anime and the manga version. But then again, I may be biased because I love sports anime.
Anyway, let's talk about it...
The story is about **Sora Kurumatani** who despite his short stature possesses an undeniably unwavering love for basketball. He has been practicing since he was a young boy given that his mom used to play the sport as well.
In order to keep his promise with his mom, he became a member of the basketball club at Kuzuryuu High School in order to compete in tournaments, however he faced yet another problem.
The so-called basketball club at this school was nothing but a bunch of punks doing everything except basketball. The have no interest in the sport at all. Sora didn't give up though... He later found out that the twin brothers, Chiaki and Momoharu were actually experienced with basketball, but have both lost their drive and motivation to play due to some personal reasons.
With sheer determination and persistence to revive the basketball team, Sora challenged them to play basketball which ended them being overwhelmed by Sora's impressive skills. Looking at this tiny boy re-ignited their passion to once again play the sport.
Together, they struggled, improved, fought together... and each other. It was chaotic, but they're doing everything they can one step at a time. <3

Aside from me being a sports anime otaku, I enjoyed it for its plot. I've watched several basketball anime like Slam Dunk, Kuroko no Basuke, Buzzer Beat, Dear Boys, etc... but Ahiru no Sora has its own charm as well.
The games are exciting and sometimes frustrating, but the characters' life stories are really well-made. There are times when you'd cry, laugh and fall in love. It's more of a basketball drama, especially at the earlier episodes. Great character developments are also present in the series which is a huge plus for me.
If the things written in some forums related to the author disliking the animated version, I wouldn't really understand why. I've read the manga before watching the anime, but I enjoyed both. The anime followed the manga religiously, so I don't really get it.
I still hope for a second season to be available someday because the upcoming games *(as I've read from the manga)* are super exciting. I need the adrenaline! And ohh... the basketball in this anime or manga is realistic, so if you're into basketball, you can relate.
For now, I'd continue to follow the manga and enjoy it to my heart's content! Thanks for reading and see you around! (^^,)/
