¡Hola amigos! Ya se nos termina el año, pero antes de eso les traigo la reseña de una película que vi hace poco y me resultó interesante porque aborda la futura problemática sobre la inteligencia artificial. Les estoy hablando de Alice: subservience y la pueden encontrar en la plataforma de Prime Video.
Hello friends! The year is coming to an end, but before that I bring you the review of a movie that I saw recently and I found it interesting because it addresses the future issue of artificial intelligence. I'm talking about Alice: subservience and you can find it on the Prime Video platform.
Trama - Plot
La película gira en torno a una familia integrada por un matrimonio y dos hijos pequeños. Un día a Maggie, la madre, la tienen que internar porque necesita un trasplante de corazón, y Nick se tiene que hacer cargo de las tareas domésticas, el cuidado de sus hijos pequeños y su mujer, además del trabajo. Por lo que decide contratar a una Sim, que es una inteligencia artificial que funcionará como niñera para que lo ayude. Así llega Alice a la vida de esta familia, y todo vuelve a marchar bien. Alice es muy eficiente en su trabajo, tanto que se empieza a tomar ciertas atribuciones como querer complacer todos los deseos de Nick y se terminara convirtiendo en un peligro para el resto de su familia.
The film revolves around a family consisting of a married couple and two young children. One day Maggie, the mother, has to be hospitalized because she needs a heart transplant, and Nick has to take care of the housework, the care of his young children and his wife, as well as work. So he decides to hire a Sim, which is an artificial intelligence that will work as a nanny to help him. So Alice arrives to this family's life, and everything goes well again. Alice is very efficient at her job, so much so that she starts to take on certain attributions such as wanting to please all of Nick's wishes and ends up becoming a danger to the rest of his family.
Reseña - Review
Esta película es otro ejemplo más de que la inteligencia artificial es muy eficiente y necesaria, pero también peligrosa. Aparte de que la película está ambientada en un futuro donde todo es IA, nos muestra cómo las personas fueron reemplazadas en sus trabajos por estas nuevas tecnologías y lo peligroso que puede llegar a ser prescindir de mano de obra de carne y hueso.
This movie is yet another example that artificial intelligence is very efficient and necessary, but also dangerous. Apart from the fact that the movie is set in a future where everything is AI, it shows us how people were replaced in their jobs by these new technologies and how dangerous it can be to dispense with flesh and blood labor.
Si bien ya hay varias películas que abordan temas parecidos, algunos hasta dándoles emociones a la IA para que empaticemos por ella y los humanos seamos vistos como los malos. Acá es más bien lo contrario, vemos una IA en versión tóxica y manipuladora queriendo tomar protagonismo dentro del hogar como si fuera la señora de la casa y la esposa de Nick. No hay otro tipo de profundidad más que esta, en ese sentido es bastante predecible.
While there are already several films that address similar themes, some even giving emotions to the AI so that we empathize with it and humans are seen as the bad guys. Here it is rather the opposite, we see a toxic and manipulative version of AI wanting to take center stage inside the home as if it were the lady of the house and Nick's wife. There is no other kind of depth other than this, in that sense it is quite predictable.
También hacia el final el personaje de Alice tiene cierta evolución a Terminator porque se va poniendo bastante morbosa y amenazante la muchacha robótica. Okey, no voy a dar spoilers, pero es una película bastante interesante, aunque no muestre nada nuevo. Lo único que le falto es cierta profundidad y contexto a la trama, pero por el resto me gustó. No sé centra tanto en la IA en sí, sino en este personaje en particular que evoluciona de tal manera que se sale de control.
Also towards the end Alice's character has a certain evolution to Terminator because the robotic girl becomes quite morbid and threatening. Okay, I'm not going to give spoilers, but it's a pretty interesting movie, even if it doesn't show anything new. The only thing it lacks is some depth and context to the plot, but otherwise I liked it. It doesn't focus so much on the AI itself, but on this particular character that evolves in such a way that it gets out of control.
Me pareció que dejaron alguna intención de hacer una continuación, pero no creo que lo hagan porque veo que no le gustó tanto a la crítica, y la verdad es que es bastante floja en muchos aspectos. Pero en líneas generales, estuvo entretenida o al menos para mi gusto, y los actores estuvieron correctos. La disfruté de verdad, así que se la recomiendo, pero no esperen una super trama ni nada por el estilo porque se pueden llevar una decepción.
It seemed to me that they left some intention of making a sequel, but I don't think they will do it because I see that the critics didn't like it so much, and the truth is that it is quite weak in many aspects. But overall, it was entertaining or at least for my taste, and the actors were correct. I really enjoyed it, so I recommend it, but don't expect a super plot or anything like that because you may be disappointed.
