   Hello my friends at Movies & TV Shows, we already know that I have a certain attraction for films and productions in general from Northern and Eastern Europe, and Druk, the award-winning Danish film, could not be the exception. An interesting data, it won the Oscar as the best foreign film, it was nominated for best director (, and another awards that you can check here on this link to Wikipedia.

   I recently learned about this film in a chat with friends, precisely high school teachers, who mentioned this production to give rise to the alternative proposed by the film, of course in a joking tone.

   Although this film did not rank among my favorites, I must admit that it raises some interesting points of view and questions that speak of extremes. After watching the film, I came up with the following questions (how nice it is when a story leaves you thinking in this way):

   Hola mis amigos de Movies & TV Shows, ya sabemos que siento cierta atracción por las películas y producciones en general del norte y este europeo, y Druk, la premiada película danesa, no podía ser la excepción. Aquí van algunos datos interesantes, ganó el Oscar como mejor película extranjera, estuvo nominada por mejor director, y otros premios que puedes consultar aquí en este enlace a Wikipedia.

   Hace poco me enteré de esta película en una charla con amigos, justamente profesores de escuela secundaria, que hacían mención a esta producción para dar pie a la alternativa que propone la película, claro que en tono de broma.

   Y es que aunque no se posicionó esta película entre mis favoritas, debo reconocer que viene a plantear unos interesantes puntos de vista e interrogantes que nos hablan de los extremos. Y es que tras ver la película, arribé a las siguientes preguntas (qué lindo es cuando una historia te deja pensando de esta manera):

   And this story tells us about the daily life of four high school teachers who are very bored with their work and with their life in general. The four teachers are of different ages, and this is something that is also good about the film because it presents us with a problem that is transgenerational and that is not about how old someone is, but about how monotonous his or her life has become.

   ¿Es tan positivo ser extremadamente correcto? ¿Es necesario ser un profesional aburrido? ¿A dónde se encuentra el límite entre los “permitidos” y el exceso? ¿Está bien permitirse perder el control? ¿Cuándo frenar? ¿Qué tan conscientes somos del ejemplo que damos en un entorno profesional y en una familia, en especial cuando estamos frente a jóvenes que recién están formándose?

   Y es que esta historia nos cuenta sobre la vida diaria de cuatro profesores de secundaria que están muy aburridos con su trabajo y con su vida en general. Los cuatro profesores tienen diferentes edades, y esto es algo que también está bueno de la película porque nos presenta una problemática que es transgeneracional y que no pasa por cuántos años tiene alguien, sino por cuán monótona ha pasado a ser su vida.

   Let's see a little more of these four teachers, although I will not elaborate too much on each of them, because what they undertake is more a matter of teamwork that ends up having an impact on the personal world of each one, but so that we know who I am talking about.

   También presenta el contraste entre juventud e inmadurez y la madurez que implica el hecho de dar ciertos pasos en la vida. Aunque también nos da el mensaje de que el hecho de alcanzar ciertas etapas, no tiene por qué destruir por completo al joven que llevamos dentro, sino que debemos saber que siempre estará allí, listo para alguna diversión, pero consciente de que hoy en un adulto con responsabilidades.

   Veamos un poco más de estos cuatro profesores, aunque no me explayaré demasiado en cada uno de ellos, porque lo que emprenden es más una cuestión de equipo que termina por repercutir en el mundo personal de cada uno, pero para que sepamos de quiénes hablo.

   Martin is a character a little more protagonist than the others, since he is the one the story talks about the most. The other three, come to have almost the same level of participation among them. Martin has two children and a wife, but he is a history teacher who has become completely boring in his classes to the point that he is not able to offer new challenges to his own students. Of course, he projects this onto his family and his whole life.

   Nikolaj is younger, has a wife and three young children, so he is parenting like he never will in his life. He has to keep an eye on what his family needs, but in his transition from relaxed young man to family man, he is having so many changes that his life also seems to be on the verge of chaos by routine. He is a professor of psychology.

   Martin es un personaje un un poco más protagónico que los demás, ya que es del que más nos habla la historia. Los otros tres, vienen a tener casi el mismo nivel de participación entre ellos. Y es que Martin tiene dos hijos y su esposa, pero es un profesor de Historia que se ha vuelto por completo aburrido en sus clases al nivel que no es capaz de brindar nuevos desafíos a sus propios estudiantes. Claro que proyecta esto a su familia y a toda su vida.

   Nikolaj es más joven, tiene a su esposa y tres hijos pequeños, por lo que está paternando como nunca en su vida lo hará. Tiene que estar pendiente de lo que necesita su familia, pero en su transición de joven relajado a padre de familia, está teniendo tantos cambios que su vida también pareciera estar al borde de un caos por rutina. Él es profesor de Psicología.

   Peter is a music teacher and he is simply exhausted of having to listen to his students singing out of tune. He is an extremely serious and traditional teacher, who takes the choir as a moment of obligation, he stands in front of his students and that's it, he teaches and his subject, as if music itself were not one of the most genuine forms of artistic expression.

   Tommy is a Gymnastics teacher, lives alone with his dog, who is quite old, and is as mired in inertia as his three colleagues. He is not too interested in his classes and is a man whose life revolves around his work, for even his clothes are all school-oriented (sportswear).

   Peter es profesor de Música y sencillamente está agotado de tener que escuchar a sus alumnos desafinar. Es un profesor en extremo serio y tradicional, que se toma al coro como un momento de obligación, se coloca frente a sus estudiantes y ya, enseña y a su tema, como si la música en sí no fuese una de las maneras más genuinas de expresión artística.

   Tommy es profesor de Gimnasia, vive solo con su perro, que es bastante anciano, y está tan sumido en la inercia como sus tres colegas. No le interesan demasiado sus clases y es un hombre cuya vida gira a su trabajo, pues incluso su ropa está toda orientada a la escuela (ropa deportiva).

   Likewise, there is also a message of balance that shares the idea that neither extreme is good: neither being absolutely conservative on this subject, since life ends up being chaotic in the end but for the same stagnation to which immovable structures lead; nor believing that alcohol is a tool that comes to rescue anyone from depression or boredom.

   The real message behind this is that each person has the tools to live a balanced life between responsibility and fun, and also has the resources to know when to relax with something and when to set a limit. What should be promoted is precisely this capacity of the human being, long before resorting to some external element to provoke some kind of state.

   Tras esta breve presentación, les comento un poco más de Druk.

   Resulta que los 4 amigos se reúnen para festejar los 40 años de Nikolaj, quien en ese momento comenta una teoría presentada por un psiquiatra que sugiere que manteniendo un 0,05% de alcohol en sangre, la vida es más sencilla y alegre, por lo que tras esa cena, sugieren poner en práctica este método.

   Aquí es cuando cada uno de los personajes empieza a tener una relación diferente con el alcohol, desde el descontrol que termina en alcoholismo, hasta la responsabilidad en donde se renuncia a esto por la incapacidad de llevar a cabo una vida comprometida, pasando por aparentes posturas equilibradas que luego inclinan la balanza hacia un interesante mensaje que asegura que el alcohol en medidas medias a grandes, puede conducir a desenlaces literalmente fatales.

   Igualmente también se da un mensaje de equilibrio que comparte la idea de que ningún extremo es bueno: ni ser absolutamente conservador sobre este tema, pues la vida al final termina siendo un caos pero por el mismo estancamiento al que llevan las estructuras inamovibles; ni creer que el alcohol es una herramienta que viene a rescatar a nadie de la depresión o el aburrimiento.

   El verdadero mensaje que se esconde detrás de esto es que cada persona en sí misma tiene las herramientas para vivir una vida equilibrada entre la responsabilidad y la diversión, y también tiene los recursos para saber cuándo relajarse con algo y cuando colocar un límite. Lo que habría que potenciar es justamente esta capacidad del ser humano, mucho antes de recurrir a algún elemento externo para provocar algún tipo de estado.

   The movie is objectively very good. The subject it deals with is particularly delicate, especially because it is a production for people over 16 years old and at that age teenagers start drinking alcohol, at least in Latin America and I understand that in Europe and the United States as well. Not because it is legal to drink at 16, but because that is what they tend to do.

   The thing is that this is an age group that tends to do "tests", so it could happen that among their attempts, they add to the theory of the film, especially because it is a theory recommended by a psychiatrist, according to Nikolaj's character.

   It is a film that if I had a 16 year old child, I would watch it with him or her to be able to give rise to a talk, know my child's position, and contribute something about it in relation to balance and precautions.

   So, for a teenager this movie can be very positive, because it can teach him or her a lot, but if the kid is more into the "cool" of the party, it could be counterproductive if he or she watches it with peers who are on the same wavelength as him or her.

   La película objetivamente es muy buena. El tema que trata es particularmente delicado, en especial porque es una producción para mayores de 16 años y justo a esa edad los adolescentes empiezan a beber alcohol, al menos en América Latina y tengo entendido que en Europa o Estados Unidos también. No porque sea legal beber con 16 años, sino porque es lo que se tiende a hacer.

   El tema es que justo es un grupo etario que tiende a hacer “pruebas”, por lo que podría ocurrir que entre sus intentos, sumen a la teoría de la película, en especial porque es una teoría recomendada por un psiquiatra, según el personaje de Nikolaj.

   Es una película que si yo tuviera un hijo de 16 años, la vería con el o con ella para poder dar lugar a una charla, conocer la postura de mi hijo, y aportar algo al respecto en relación al equilibrio y las precauciones.

   Por eso, para un adolescente esta película puede ser muy positiva, porque puede enseñarle mucho, pero si el chico está más en la “onda” de la fiesta, podría ser contraproducente si la ve con pares que están en su misma sintonía.

It shows the structure and the need not to adhere to it, it introduces the need to be looser, more relaxed about life, but of course, it involves alcohol, and with this, it adds numerous possible scenarios that an adult can become unable to control if he does not access his own resources of regulation.

   I think it has different edges to analyze and opens the debate to many aspects of adult life in particular, where everything indicates that the magic has been lost, that the years have come with boredom. There is a general stigmatization of adulthood, which is associated with boredom and old age, while youth is associated with lack of control and irresponsibility. And suddenly nothing is so black and white, we must be able to find those nuances and enjoy them, without the need to fall into a category created by the years of life.

   En cuanto al mismo film con una audiencia adulta, debo decir que es realmente muy bueno, Plantea a la rutina como lo que es realmente y muestra cómo puede arruinar a una persona y a toda una familia. Muestra a la estructura y a la necesidad de no adherirse a ella, introduce la necesidad de ser más holgado, más relajado para con la vida, pero claro, involucra al alcohol, y con esto, se agregan numerosos escenarios posibles que un adulto puede llegar a ser incapaz de controlar si no accede a sus propios recursos de regulación.

   Creo que tiene diferentes aristas a analizar y que abre el debate a muchos aspectos de la vida adulta particularmente, en donde todo indica que se ha perdido la magia, que los años han llegado con aburrimiento. Hay una estigmatización general de la adultez, que se asocia con aburrimiento y vejez, mientras la juventud se asocia con descontrol e irresponsabilidad. Y de pronto nada es tan blanco o negro, debemos ser capaces de encontrar esos matices y disfrutarlos, sin necesidad de caer en una categoría creada por los años de vida.

   I finally got to see this movie! It was horrible, I saw how the disaster was getting closer and closer and I didn't want anything bad to happen, and when I thought I was going to cry, I didn't cry, I only cried at the end when I saw the mythical scene that everyone was talking about after watching the movie, and I'm thankful that they only talked about that scene, the final scene, because if I had found out what the movie was really about I would have never seen it, although maybe I would have seen it because of Mads Mikkelsen; but I didn't find out what it was about, I saw it, I suffered it, I loved the ending, and here I am afterward reviewing it.

   I'm thankful I never saw the trailer and also never read a real review or synopsis of this movie before because since I didn't even know what it was about, I was provoked to watch it, but now I know after watching it, and I'm about to describe the plot here, and I don't want to do that. Four teachers from a school, who have been friends for many years, meet one night for a celebration, that day they discuss the fact that according to a philosopher, which I don't remember, had theorized that the human being is born with alcohol 0.05% below what it should, then it implies the fact that the human being should drink alcohol during the day, every day until they see the results by complying with the lack of alcohol that the body has. Yes, that is the excuse to normalize alcoholism and see it as something natural, even philosophical, and that is why I would not have seen the movie.

   

   ¡Finalmente pude ver esta película! Fue horrible, vi cómo el desastre estaba cada vez más cerca y no quería que sucederia nada mal, y cuando creí que iba a llorar, no lloré, solo lloré al final al ver la escena mítica de la que todo el mundo hablaba después de ver la película, y agradezco que solo hablaran de esa escena, la escena final, porque si me hubiera enterado de lo que trataba la película de verdad no la hubiera visto nunca, aunque quizás si la hubiera visto por culpa de Mads Mikkelsen; pero no me enteré de lo que trataba, la vi, la sufrí, amé el final, y aquí estoy después haciéndole la reseña.

   De verdad, agradezco no haber visto nunca el trailer y tampoco haber leído una reseña verdadera o la sinopsis de esta película antes, porque como ni siquiera sabía de qué era, me provocaba verla, pero ahora lo sé después de verla, y estoy por describir la trama aquí, y no quiero hacerlo. Cuatro profesores de una escuela, que han sido amigos durante muchos años, se encuentran una noche para una celebración, ese día discuten el hecho de que según un filosofo, el cual no recuerdo, había teorizado que el ser humano nace con el alcohol 0.05% debajo de lo que debería, entonces implica el hecho de que el ser humano debería tomar alcohol durante el día, todos los días, hasta ver los resultados al cumplir con la falta de alcohol que el cuerpo tiene. Sí, esa es la excusa para normalizar el alcoholismo y verlo como algo natural, incluso filosófico, y es por eso que no hubiera visto la película.

   

   

   

   This movie is the longest commercial ever made against alcohol demonstrating the negative effects it can have on life because of its constant and normalized consumption daily. I think that sentence sums up the movie completely and I have nothing more to say, so from now on I'm going to improvise.

   I could very easily turn this review into a post where I would only talk about how beautiful, delicious, exquisite and wonderful Mads is, but I won't, I will control myself and talk as much as possible about the movie. Their acting here is decent, although I should say it's amazing in the scenes where they have to play drunk, I wouldn't be surprised if they were drunk, because playing drunk while sober is very difficult, something that would be easy for them since they are actors, but anyway, those moments were as funny as they were alarming.

   

   Esta película es el comercial más largo hecho contra el alcohol demostrando los efectos negativos que este puede tener en la vida a causa de su consumo constante y normalizado en el día a día. Creo que esa oración resume por completo la película y no tengo nada más que decir, así que a partir de ahora voy a improvisar.

   Con mucha facilidad podría convertir esta reseña en una publicación donde solo hablaría de lo hermoso, delicioso, exquisito y maravilloso que es Mads, pero no lo haré, me controlaré y hablaré lo más posible de la película. Su actuación aquí es decente, aunque debería decir que es increíble en las escenas donde tienen que hacer de borrachos, pero no me sorprendería el hecho de que sí hayan estado ebrios de verdad, porque hacer de ebrio estando sobrio es algo muy difícil, cosa que les sería fáciles a ellos ya que son actores, pero en fin, esos momentos fueron tan divertidos como alarmantes.

It's just that even today people believe that coffee and alcohol are not harmful drugs for human beings, but no, since their consumption is completely normalized, some people take this movie literally, even if they haven't seen the movie, and live in a state of drunkenness every day of the week without caring that the rest of their life is going to shit. I got upset again.

   

   Una cosa que yo supongo, y podría ser facilemnte cierta, quitando el hecho de que apenas lo acabo de pensar, es que a esos cuatro viejos (perdón, Mads) les dio la crisis existencial de los 40, y por eso se pusieron a inventar consumiendo alcohol todos los días con la excusa de que estaban haciendo un experimento psicológico y social, o sea, nadie se creería ese cuento, aunque haya sido de verdad, pero es solo una excusa cuando la verdadera razón para hacerlo es otra.

   Antes de ponerse como unos idiotas a tomar alcohol a tal grado, primero deberían haber ido al psicólogo, no sé, digo yo, para ver qué era lo que estaba mal con sus vidas que las veían grises, solas, abandonadas, teniendo hijos o no, con pareja o no; podían ir al psicólogo para hablar de por qué sus clases estaban siendo cada vez más tan aburridas y había tantas quejas, no sé, ¿por qué no pudieron buscarle un sentido a la vida en algo diferente y no en el alcohol? Es que aún hoy en día la gente cree que el café y el alcohol no son drogas dañinas para el ser humano, pero no, como su consumo está completamente normalizado, hay gente que se toma esta pelñícula de una forma literal, aunque no hayan visto la película, y viven en un estado de ebriedad todos los días de la semana sin importar que el resto de su vida se esté yendo a la mierda. Me volví a alterar.

   

   

   

   The ending, the final scene, is exquisite, it's wonderful, it's glorious, perfect, incredible, we will have our delicious Mads finally dancing, during the whole movie they insist him to dance, but he doesn't do it, only at the end, he dares to do it after many things happen, things that I won't mention because you must see the movie, but that dance is glorious, it made me cry, yes, I cried and I didn't even expect it, maybe I was just accumulating too many things while watching the movie and only by watching him dance I could relax and let it all out in the form of tears, just that I will say, no more.

   I watched the trailer before putting it here, I didn't watch the trailer before watching the movie, and if you already read this review, it doesn't hurt at all to watch the trailer before watching the movie, it won't tell you more than what I told you, and if it provokes you to watch the movie after all this, I assure you that you will enjoy it, but you will also suffer it, you will suffer it a lot.

   Está nominada a Mejor Película Internacional en los premios Oscar

   Probablemente ya hayan visto esta imagen por allí o se hayan topado con algún póster que la muestre y tengan una idea de lo que relata esta película. Bueno, tampoco hay que ser muy listo para intuirlo, llamándose Another round (Otra ronda) e incluso Drunk (Borracho) en otros países, pero la última película de Thomas Vinterberg cuenta mucho más que tragos en un bar y por eso ha sido reconocida como una de las mejores películas del año.

   

   Póster promocional

   Su título original en danés es Druk, lo que traduce "consumo excesivo de alcohol" (¡menuda capacidad de síntesis la de los daneses!) y cuenta la historia de cuatro profesores de instituto que, tras una charla medio en broma y medio en serio, deciden embarcarse en un experimento sociológico y psicológico que consiste en mantener la tasa de alcohol en su cuerpo a un mismo nivel, para estudiar los efectos físicos, mentales, sociales, profesionales de ese determinado nivel de alcohol en su organismo. Según la teoría de un psicólogo que mencionan en la película, un poco de alcohol sería no sólo necesario sino beneficioso para el individuo ya que conseguiría relajarlo un poco, animarlo, ayudarlo a soltarse. Así que los cuatro, hombres comprometidos con la idea de llevar el asunto seriamente, comienzan a tomar notas, establecer horarios, criterios de evaluación, medir el nivel de alcohol en su sangre y apuntar sus progresos.

   

   Los cuatro amigos de juerga

   Porque sí, hay progresos. Es decir, en alguna parte de la cinta los cuatro profesores se van de juerga y tienen una noche digna de The hangover, pero previo a eso, el consumo moderado y controlado de alcohol los ayuda a despertar un poco del letargo en el que los ha sumido la rutina, el paso de los años y la pérdida de la juventud.

   Y es que a pesar de que el protagonista y sus amigos sean cuarentones que experimentan, de alguna u otra manera, la llamada crisis de la mediana edad, la película también habla de la juventud. De hecho, la frase inicial pertenece al filósofo Soren Kierkegaard y dice:

   "¿Qué es la juventud? Un sueño. ¿Qué es el amor? El contenido del sueño."

   La juventud, representada por los alumnos de la secundaria que tienen una vida por delante, la universidad en el horizonte y la rebeldía y temeridad para desafiar la ley y abusar de su cuerpo con borracheras míticas y etílicas carreras en el lago; y en frente, como oposición, la madurez, estos cuatro adultos y sus vidas complejas, matrimonios, hijos, trabajo, soledad, desánimo, derrota... aunque los jóvenes no son los protagonistas, la juventud sí está presente en todo momento como elemento atmosférico de la historia.

   

   Un talentoso Mads Mikkelsen

   La película no es una lección moral sobre el alcoholismo. Aunque pueden analizarse ciertos comportamientos humanos relacionados con la bebida (el bebedor social, el alcohólico, los efectos de las bebidas alcoholicas) a partir de la historia, Vinterberg no toma partido. Cuenta una historia que resulta divertida, amena, seria y embriagadora, sencillamente porque lo que nos está contando es una historia profundamente humana.

   Cuando oí por primera vez sobre esta película, me sorprendió un poco la sinopsis, ya que resulta más ligera y menos dramática que las otras películas que he visto del director. Sin embargo, aunque se aleja un poco de las aguas conocidas, el producto final resulta de gran calidad. Esta película no tiene la carga de tensión que tiene The Hunt, por ejemplo, pero en cambio tiene escenas que dan risa, un guión fluido y dos horas en las que el espectador se relaja viendo las consecuencias del experimento, a la vez que reflexiona sobre la ingesta de alcohol. Repito: no hay aquí una moraleja. Pero está claro que exponer las consecuencias de que dentro de una sociedad el alcohol sea algo tan normal, mueve a reflexión.

   La dirección es excelente, la historia entretenida y las actuaciones son increíbles, en especial la de Mads Mikkelsen, quien ya había colaborado con el director. La banda sonora también me pareció muy buena y si la película no se me hizo tan memorable como The hunt, no fue por sus carencias, sino por los aciertos únicos de aquella. Si les gusta tomarse unas copas de vez en cuando, o con más frecuencia, si tienen un amigo que toma mucho, o sencillamente si quieren ver una película divertida sobre lo que puede ser permanecer ebrio durante el día con fines investigativos, échenle un vistazo a Another round.

   En esta película se plantea un concepto muy interesante, si consumes alcohol eventualmente me comprenderás, pues uno siente que sus inhibiciones van desapareciendo poco a poco, uno es más propenso a decir lo que piensa, a actuar sin pensar tanto en las consecuencias, los introvertidos somos más extrovertidos y repartimos besos y abrazos más fácilmente.

   In this film a very interesting concept arises, if you consume alcohol you will eventually understand me, because one feels that their inhibitions are gradually disappearing, one is more prone to say what they think, to act without thinking so much about the consequences, introverts we are more outgoing and we distribute kisses and hugs more easily.

   Aquí vemos a 4 amigos, todos profesores, quienes están ligeramente disgustados con sus vidas, estos van a poner a prueba una teoría de un famoso psicólogo, el cual plantea que el ser humano nació con un 0.05% de alcohol menos en sangre, por lo cual nunca llegaremos a desarrollarnos completamente, pero al tratar de comprobar está teoría, descubrirán que no todo es positivo en este experimento.

   Y es que en el inicio del experimento, se nos muestran resultados muy positivos, los profesores logran captar mejor la atención de sus estudiantes, aumentando su desempeño, mejoran sus vidas y sus relaciones interpersonales, todo yendo viento en popa, hasta que deciden aumentar el porcentaje de alcohol.

   Allí empieza todo a irse por el escusado, su nivel de borrachera aumenta drásticamente, haciendo que todos a su alrededor se preocupen por su adicción, al mismo tiempo, entre más tiempo consumen alcohol, más se vuelve adictivo y cada vez necesitan más para cubrir sus necesidades.

   Hablando de la dirección de la película y el guión, estuvieron muy bien, lograron conseguir una historia en qué pudiera sentirme identificado, pero a medida que aumentaban los problemas, llegando hasta el desarrollo de alcoholismo y un poco más allá, no hace replantearnos muchas decisiones que hemos tomado y recordar que el alcohol es una droga.

   Speaking of the direction of the film and the script, they were very good, they managed to get a story in which I could feel identified, but as the problems increased, reaching the development of alcoholism and a little beyond, it does not make us rethink many decisions we have taken and remember that alcohol is a drug.

   Y es que aquí no buscan dejarnos una moraleja ni nada por el estilo, simplemente desarrollan los personales, descubrimos sus motivaciones y sus problemas personales, además de ser una pequeña sátira a la sociedad danesa, quienes ahogan sus problemas y festejan sus logros en el alcohol (igual que muchos lo hacemos).

   En conclusión me pareció una muy buena película, ideal para ver la próxima vez que tengas una reseca horrible, para recordar con un poco de risas la noche anterior, pero sobre todo, para no olvidar que el alcohol sigue siendo una droga de abuso. Especial mención a Madds Mikkelsen por su gran interpretación.

   In conclusion, it seemed like a very good movie, ideal to see the next time you have a horrible parch, to remember with a little laugh the night before, but above all, not to forget that alcohol is still a drug of abuse. Special mention to Madds Mikkelsen for her great performance.
