Beast of Burden

Beast of Burden is probably one of the best movies of 2018 for me. It is a thriller that will keep you hooked at the edge of your seat from start to finish.

The movie focuses on the events surrounding ex airforce pilot, Sean(played by Radcliffe), who was dishonourably discharged from the airforce for running illegal substances.

The movie starts with Sean in a general aviation aircraft(Cessna) flying in terrible weather conditions. Through various phone calls he receives and makes using the satellite phone on board, and flashbacks, his whole life unravels in this 50-minute flight.

During this flight, he faces a host of challenges from his “employees” who he runs drugs for, his wife suffering from Ovarian Cancer and American law enforcement. One bad decision led to another that got the young pilot in between the devil and the deep blue sea.

The movie pits Sean against the weather, law enforcement and the cartel, who kidnap his sick wife. In this battle of wits and struggle for survival, how will Sean circumnavigate this situation to his favour and save his wife, whom he loves more than anything in this world?

One downside in the plot was the scene where he had to land because his oil tank was leaking and then restarted the aircraft and got airborne without any oil in the tank. I also find the fact that his wife spent so long searching for the car key inconsistent, considering she was in the car with her abductors all the time and should literally have known where it was immediately.

Its generally difficult to come out of the shackles of fame that a big franchise gives you but Radcliffe the Harry Porter boy, as I call him, showcased his acting skills in this thrilling movie that had action, drama, romance and suspense in optimal proportion for a movie of just over an hour and a small budget.

For the contest #33 which begins today,I chose the movie Beast of Burden (2018) which is directed by Jesper Ganslandt who is an unknown director and I hope that he will become more familiar with this movie. Beast of Burden (2018) have the first release in 23 February in the USA and the date which will count for our contest is 8 March. Let's take a look at some things that can help you to choose the correct rating for the contest :

the director is Jesper Ganslandt which has not made anything known so far but he has chances with this movie to prove something
the cast is ok and have names like Daniel Radcliffe and Grace Gummer which is known from the tv show Mr Robot but also from the movie Frances Ha (2012).
the duration is 1h 29min which is perfect in my opinion and can be very focused on action without leaving moments of boredom
