  1. Bedazzled/ Al diablo con el diablo (2000) – Netflix [ESP/ENG]@hectorsanchez181768d

    # Hola Comunidad!!

>Hello Community !! These days I have dedicated myself to watching old movies because I already finished the series I was watching, and I found a comedy by Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley that had a lot that I did not see, it is that of "Bedazzled".

The film begins with Elliot Richards, an average office worker who is in love with a co-worker, but his love is not reciprocated, also his work and personal life are not very good since at work they do not have friends and the people with whom they try to make a friendship they constantly reject it.

One day while he is in a bar where he is meeting his officemates, he tells himself that he would give anything to be with her and it is at that moment that the devil appears in the form of a woman, Elizabeth Hurley, who He proposes a deal: his soul in exchange for seven wishes.

Elliot, who does not trust this supposed devil, tells her that he wants a hamburger with a soda, but the Devil takes him to a McDonald’s where Elliot gets his food, but they have to pay for it, why don't I want it to be free.

From this moment we can realize that the wishes will not be fulfilled exactly as Elliot imagines them and the Devil will always do everything possible to make everything turn out in the worst possible way.

Personally, it is a film that I enjoyed a lot, it is a comedy of errors and misinterpretations and with a very tender ending that makes you reflect on everything we want in life is not necessarily what we need.

  2. My Review of Bedazzled (2000)@petermarie2719d

    [Spoiler Alert! You've Been Warned!!]

Bedazzled wasn't a bad movie, but I can't say it was a good one either. It was just okay.

The plot itself was a bit cliché. You know how the story will turn out ten minutes into the movie. I mean, what else can you expect to happen when a good but desperate man makes a deal with the devil, for his soul no less? You know the wishes she grants are going to be messed up one way or another and that the desperate wisher will realize his mistake at the end and try to get out of the deal.

What really keeps you going in this movie is anticipating Elliot's wishes and just how exactly the devil would botch them up. It was spectacularly humorous, as you'd expect when you see Brendan Fraser in the cast. His portrayal of Elliot was super, and combined with Elizabeth Hunley's portrayal of the devil, is what keeps the movie solid.

The character 'Elliot' was also great and very well written. You can see how he grows after each wish experience, can even relate with him underneath all the black humor. His apparent lack of confidence and social skills actually incites some sympathy.

In the end though, the movie is mainly a moral-teaching one, stopping just short of being Christian. In fact, after seeing it, I couldn't help but notice the similarities to David White's Me Again.

But that's a review for another day.
