   For most of us growing up, watching the fresh prince of Bel-Air was everything for us. The comedy, the love, the drama was nothing short of absolute brilliance. I don't know why it took me so long to watch the 2022 remake but I finally did and I loved it.

   Para la mayoría de nosotros mientras crecíamos, ver al nuevo príncipe de Bel-Air era todo para nosotros. La comedia, el amor, el drama fue nada menos que brillantez absoluta. No sé por qué tardé tanto en ver el remake de 2022, pero finalmente lo hice y me encantó.

   The writers had a lot to live up to. Of course, everybody expected this remake to be as good as the old series and they surely didn't disappoint with it. It stars Jabari Banks as Will Smith and boy did he do a good job.

   Los escritores tenían mucho que cumplir. Por supuesto, todos esperaban que esta nueva versión fuera tan buena como la serie anterior y seguramente no decepcionaron. Está protagonizada por Jabari Banks como Will Smith y vaya si hizo un buen trabajo.

   

   THE PLOT || LA PARCELA

   Will Smith is your average teenager, born and raised in Philadelphia. He's very skilled as basketball and is the star player of his school. He gets in trouble with a gang after winning a bet against them and ends up in the police station. This causes his mom to ask her sister and her family to take Will in until the issue dies down.

   Will Smith es un adolescente promedio, nacido y criado en Filadelfia. Es muy hábil en el baloncesto y es el jugador estrella de su escuela. Se mete en problemas con una pandilla después de ganar una apuesta contra ellos y termina en la comisaría. Esto hace que su madre le pida a su hermana y a su familia que se hagan cargo de Will hasta que el problema desaparezca.

   

   He gets to LA and discovers his uncle is very rich and is running for district attorney. Will needs to keep a low profile while navigating a world that is totally different from the one he came from, to avoid bad press. It takes time but he starts to fit in in school and with his family, even Carlton, his cousin that doesn't like him so well. Will has charisma and has "swagger". This makes his extended family realize that they need him as much as he needs them.

   Llega a Los Ángeles y descubre que su tío es muy rico y se postula para fiscal de distrito. Will necesita mantener un perfil bajo mientras navega por un mundo que es totalmente diferente del que proviene, para evitar la mala prensa. Toma tiempo pero comienza a encajar en la escuela y con su familia, incluso con Carlton, su primo que no lo quiere mucho. Will tiene carisma y tiene "arrogancia". Esto hace que su familia extendida se dé cuenta de que lo necesitan tanto como él los necesita a ellos.

   Everything seems to go well until Will's estranged father shows up and wants to be a part of his life but everybody fear things may be too later already. They have alot of ups and downs but I'll leave you to go discover them when you watch the movie. I'm trying not to give away most of the plot.

   Todo parece ir bien hasta que aparece el padre separado de Will y quiere ser parte de su vida, pero todos temen que las cosas ya sean demasiado tarde. Tienen muchos altibajos, pero te dejo que los vayas descubriendo cuando veas la película. Estoy tratando de no revelar la mayor parte de la trama.

   

   MY PERSONAL OPINION || MI OPINIÓN PERSONAL

   It exceeded my expectations. I was really scared they would ruined the plot but they didn't. Everything was spot on. I liked the fact that even though it was a remake, they didn't follow everything exactly. There are a lot of twist you wouldn't see coming. Actors did a great job too. The actor that played Will Smith performed brilliantly, some might even say he did a better job.

   Superó mis expectativas. Tenía mucho miedo de que arruinaran la trama, pero no lo hicieron. Todo estaba en el clavo. Me gustó el hecho de que a pesar de que era una nueva versión, no siguieron todo exactamente. Hay muchos giros que no verías venir. Los actores también hicieron un gran trabajo. El actor que interpretó a Will Smith se desempeñó de manera brillante, algunos incluso podrían decir que hizo un mejor trabajo.

   Although it is Will's story, every character had enough time to show us their individual struggles, Hillary, a food influencer that is trying to find her foot so she can leave her parent's house. Carlton, the perfect son struggling with addiction. Ashley, a young woman discovering her sexuality. Philip Banks, a man trying to keep his family together while he runs for office and Vivian, a mother who is struggling to keep a relationship with her daughter as well as find her place in the art community.

   Aunque es la historia de Will, cada personaje tuvo tiempo suficiente para mostrarnos sus luchas individuales, Hillary, una influencer de comida que está tratando de encontrar su pie para poder salir de la casa de sus padres. Carlton, el hijo perfecto que lucha contra la adicción. Ashley, una joven que descubre su sexualidad. Philip Banks, un hombre que intenta mantener unida a su familia mientras se postula para un cargo y Vivian, una madre que lucha por mantener una relación con su hija y encontrar su lugar en la comunidad artística.

   

   My favourite character has to be Geoffrey, their butler. He's the kind of person you would always want in your corner. He was always there to keep the family safe and always around when any of them needed him. I like the modern day swagger they added to this character. It was cool and nothing compared to the Geoffrey in the old series.

   Mi personaje favorito tiene que ser Geoffrey, su mayordomo. Es el tipo de persona que siempre querrías tener en tu rincón. Siempre estuvo allí para mantener a la familia segura y siempre cerca cuando alguno de ellos lo necesitaba. Me gusta la arrogancia moderna que agregaron a este personaje. Fue genial y nada comparado con el Geoffrey de la serie anterior.

   

   I was really hoping an actor from the old series would make an appearance but it never happened. I think the show did so well that they're going to renew it for a second season and I'm hoping with get to see a cameo then. The series is awesome. It's relatable, it's funny, it's dramatic, it's everything you'd look for in a series. Oh and it's very emotional too. Should you see the Bel-Air? You definitely should.

   Realmente esperaba que apareciera un actor de la serie anterior, pero nunca sucedió. Creo que al programa le fue tan bien que lo van a renovar para una segunda temporada y espero poder ver un cameo entonces. La serie es genial. Es identificable, es divertido, es dramático, es todo lo que buscarías en una serie. Ah, y es muy emotivo también. ¿Deberías ver el Bel-Air? Definitivamente deberías.

   Maybe you've seen the trailer somewhere or maybe a poster and you thought to yourself, " probably wouldn't be as good as the old one". I'm here to tell you that it is definitely worth seeing.

   Tal vez hayas visto el tráiler en alguna parte o tal vez un póster y pensaste, "probablemente no sería tan bueno como el anterior". Estoy aquí para decirte que definitivamente vale la pena verlo.

   Se acuerdan de la serie de comedia noventera de will Smith que todos amamos por sus chistes mordaces y critica racial, bueno volvió en forma de drama? Si aun que esto suene muy wtf, vuelve en forma de un drama, y la verdad es que la ejecución del mismo queda bastante torpe, y esto sucede por que will Smith el actor no el personaje que por cierto comparten mismo nombre, era todo el corazón de la serie, los chistes, la forma de criticar a la sociedad, de enseñarte a pensar diferente, ya estaban presentes en la serie de los noventa, con comedia de por medio, hay estaba presente, el problema con esta serie es que tiene demasiado drama, pero es dramática en un punto que no solo es cursi si no hasta ridículo, la verdad es que no esperaba nada de esta serie, la vi como una curiosidad y consiguió decepcionarme.

   Do you remember will Smith's 90's comedy series that we all love for its biting jokes and racial criticism, well it's back in the form of a drama? Yes, even if this sounds very wtf, it is back in the form of a drama, and the truth is that the execution of it is quite clumsy, and this happens because will Smith the actor not the character that by the way share the same name, was the whole heart of the series, the jokes, the way to criticize society, to teach you to think differently, the problem with this series is that it has too much drama, but it is dramatic to a point that is not only cheesy but even ridiculous, the truth is that I did not expect anything from this series, I saw it as a curiosity and it managed to disappoint me.

   Pero no todo es malo, se acuerdan que en la serie de los noventa Will tenía una prima mayor que seamos sinceros era todo un estereotipo de la chica tonta de Hollywood, aquí consiguen darle la vuelta, manteniendo su personalidad caprichosa pero demostrando que tiene cualidades propias por esa parte excelente, el personaje del tío de Will está bien logrado, es un hombre severo pero justo, el mejor amigo de Will jazz es casi el mismo que en la original, solo que aquí no es su mejor amigo están comenzando una amistad, pero por otro lado el primo de Will que era un gran alivio cómico en la serie por su forma algo torpe de ser, aquí se droga y lo llevan a un extremo que te sientes incomodo como espectador.

   But it's not all bad, remember that in the nineties series Will had an older cousin who let's face it was a stereotype of the dumb Hollywood girl, here they manage to turn it around, keeping her capricious personality but showing that she has her own qualities for that part excellent, the character of Will's uncle is well achieved, he is a stern but fair man, Will's best friend jazz is almost the same as in the original, only here he is not his best friend they are starting a friendship, but on the other hand Will's cousin who was a great comic relief in the series for his somewhat awkward way of being, here he is drugged and they take it to an extreme that you feel uncomfortable as a viewer.

   Para concluir, si deberían ver al menos un episodio de esta serie, pero más que para disfrutarla o para entretenerse es como una curiosidad para aquellas personas que vieron la serie de los noventa, y es que hay radica el problema la serie solo es llamativa por que había una serie que la precedió, si no fuera por eso ni siquiera destacaría por si sola

   To conclude, yes you should watch at least one episode of this series, but more than to enjoy it or to be entertained is as a curiosity for those people who saw the series of the nineties, and therein lies the problem the series is only striking because there was a series that preceded it, if not for that would not even stand out on its own
