Hola amigos de la comunidad de Movies & Tv, espero se encuentren bien el día de hoy. Ayer ví una película que tenía un tiempo en mi lista por ver sobre todo porque el tema llamaba mi atención ya que es de drama y trata temas psicológicos como lo son las adicciones. En esta historia: Ben está de Regreso es sobre un joven lidiando con la adicción a las drogas desde muy joven y dónde podemos ver cómo no solamente su mundo se ve destruido por esta situación si no también el de su familia, más que todo afectando directamente a su madre y hermana mayor. La película muestra de una manera muy real lo que es lidiar con una persona adicta y todo los problemas que esta adicción causa en el entorno donde se encuentre.
Hello friends of the Movies & Tv community, I hope you are well today. Yesterday I saw a movie that I had a while on my list to see mainly because the theme caught my attention as it is a drama and deals with psychological issues such as addictions. In this story: Ben is Back is about a young man dealing with drug addiction from a very young age and where we can see how not only his world is destroyed by this situation but also that of his family, especially directly affecting his mother and older sister. The film shows in a very real way what it is like to deal with an addicted person and all the problems that this addiction causes in the environment where he is.
Ben es un joven que se encuentra en un centro de rehabilitación para adictos a las drogas, luego de dos meses de estar completamente limpio decide regresar a su hogar o al lugar dónde el se crío. Su llegada casi inesperada altera la dinámica familiar y hace que su madre (Julia Roberts) entre en un estado de tensión dónde tome la decisión junto a su actual pareja de permitir que su hijo se quede unos días junto a ellos. En un intento por qué todo salga bien la madre de Ben esconde cualquier tipo de medicamento que pueda causar en Ben la tentación de usarla cómo un método de droga y el se da cuenta de esto, aunque le dice a su madre que todo va a estar bien la realidad es que nunca sabes que pueda hacer o suceder al estar con un adicto así sea tu hijo.
Ben is a young man who is in a rehabilitation center for drug addicts, after two months of being completely clean he decides to return home or to the place where he grew up. His almost unexpected arrival alters the family dynamics and makes his mother (Julia Roberts) enter into a state of tension where she makes the decision with her current partner to allow her son to stay with them for a few days. In an attempt for everything to go well Ben's mother hides any type of medication that may cause Ben to be tempted to use it as a drug method and he realizes this, although he tells his mother that everything will be fine the reality is that you never know what can happen or do when you are with an addict even if it is your son.
Con el pasar de los días vemos a Ben lidiar con los síntomas de abstinencia y de deseo por probar de nuevo las drogas aunque intenta con todas sus fuerzas no volver a recaer. Pero un día luego de regresar del velorio de una joven que conocía la cual también consumía drogas, este hecho causó en él una sentimiento muy grande de culpa y arrepentimiento. Al llegar a casa la encuentran asaltada, revisan todo y al parecer no se llevaron nada de valor pero el perro de la familia no está en ningún lugar y esto hace que Ben tome la decisión de buscarlo, aunque su madre le dice que podria estar cerca Ben insiste en que el perro se lo llevó alguien que el conoce. Y resulta que Ben tiene que buscar a un hombre el cual solía ser su jefe y con el que se dedicaba a vender drogas porque piensa que él es el que tiene a su perro y que le hizo esto para molestarlo. Cuando Ben vuelve a ver a su ex jefe, se da cuenta de que el perro está en el lugar pero no se lo entregarán fácilmente: deberá cumplir con un último trabajo.
As the days go by, we see Ben dealing with withdrawal symptoms and the desire to try drugs again, although he tries very hard not to relapse. But one day after returning from the wake of a young woman he knew who was also a drug user, he feels a great sense of guilt and regret. When they get home they find the house robbed, they check everything and apparently nothing of value was taken but the family dog is nowhere to be found and this makes Ben decide to look for him, although his mother tells him that he could be nearby Ben insists that the dog was taken by someone he knows. And it turns out that Ben has to look for a man who used to be his boss and with whom he used to deal drugs because he thinks he is the one who has his dog and that he did this to annoy him. When Ben goes back to see his former boss, he realizes that the dog is on the premises but they won't give him up easily: he'll have to fulfill one last job.
La historia de una persona adicta siempre va a ser difícil de ver y de sobrellevar, desde mi punto de vista Ben es un joven que producto del divorcio de sus padres y otros problemas emocionales toma en su momento la terrible decisión de recurrir a las drogas para escapar de la realidad. Sin embargo esto no es excusa para volver al hogar que ha construido su madre con su nueva pareja, junto a sus dos hermanos menores y su hermana adolescente que desde el comienzo sintió el terror de ver qué Ben estaba de regreso, y acabar con la paz que han conseguido a pesar de su historial. El tener que estar en constante estado de alerta para vigilar a Ben hacia que su madre no pudiera tener tranquilidad pero como toda madre aceptaba tenerlo cerca porque lo amaba y así poder vigilar que no volviera a consumir.
The story of an addicted person is always going to be difficult to see and to cope with, from my point of view Ben is a young man who as a result of the divorce of his parents and other emotional problems takes at the time the terrible decision to resort to drugs to escape from reality. However this is no excuse to return to the home that his mother has built with his new partner, along with his two younger brothers and his teenage sister who from the beginning felt the terror of seeing Ben was back, and end the peace they have achieved despite their history. Having to be in a constant state of alert to keep an eye on Ben meant that his mother could not have peace of mind but like any mother she accepted having him around because she loved him and so she could keep an eye on him to make sure he did not use again.
Desde el punto de vista de Ben podemos ver que se encuentra lidiando con sus propios demonios, por un lado sabe que su familia le está dando una oportunidad pero también está la adicción que cada minuto le recuerda por qué debería de volver a consumir. La actuación de Julia Roberts como la madre de Ben es sumamente increíble y su trabajo es impecable, demostrando el amor de una madre hacia su hijo y el deseo de poder ver su recuperación sin importar las situaciones que puedan avecinarse. El actor que hace a Ben es Lucas Hedges quién es conocido por su papel en Manchester by the sea y Boy Erased dos películas también del género de drama donde interpreta en la primera a un hijo luego de la perdida de su padre y en la segunda a un joven hijo de padres cristianos que se declara abiertamente homosexual. Siento que Lucas Hedges tiene mucho potencial para hacer este tipo de papeles de drama donde sabe representar esa figura de un joven con problemas o lleno de miedo y sufrimiento.
From Ben's point of view we can see that he is dealing with his own demons, on one hand he knows that his family is giving him a chance but there is also the addiction that every minute reminds him why he should go back to using. Julia Roberts' performance as Ben's mother is extremely incredible and her work is flawless, showing a mother's love for her son and the desire to be able to see his recovery no matter what situations may lie ahead. The actor who plays Ben is Lucas Hedges who is known for his role in Manchester by the sea and Boy Erased two films also in the drama genre where he plays in the first a son after the loss of his father and in the second a young son of Christian parents who declares himself openly gay. I feel that Lucas Hedges has a lot of potential to play this kind of drama roles where he knows how to represent that figure of a young man with problems or full of fear and suffering.
Dirigida y escrita por Peter Hedges quién es el padre en la vida real de Ben (Lucas Hedges), se encargó de crear una historia que más allá de contar el drama de una familia lidiando con el dolor de ver a Ben enfermo y adicto a las drogas, tambien te lleva como espectador a ver esos pequeños detalles dónde podemos darnos cuenta que toda una familia se une para que Ben este bien pero que a pesar de esto ir mas alla de lo que ellos puedan desear, es hacerle saber a Ben que a pesar de su adiccion el es un buen ser humano, un hermano protector y un hijo que desearia ser lo que sus padres esperaban de él.
Directed and written by Peter Hedges who is the real life father of Ben (Lucas Hedges), he was in charge of creating a story that beyond telling the drama of a family dealing with the pain of seeing Ben sick and addicted to drugs, also takes you as a viewer to see those little details where we can realize that a whole family comes together to make Ben well but despite this go beyond what they may want, is to let Ben know that despite his addiction he is a good human being, a protective brother and a son who would like to be what his parents expected of him.
Es de esas películas que terminas y sientes un gran vacío y una tristeza porque aunque no tiene un final triste te dejan con un final abierto dónde vemos a Ben volver a recaer pero tambien tener cambios en sus acciones de manera positiva y además vemos como el amor de una madre siempre va a estar dispuesto a seguir a su hijo sin importar las decisiones que este tome. Es una historia triste, pero deja una gran reflexión en personas jóvenes y también en las familias para tomar conciencia sobre poner atención a cualquier cambio de actitud o de humor en sus familiares y poder brindarles ese apoyo y la ayuda que necesiten a tiempo. Me gustó la manera en que fue contada está historia que más allá de romantizar el hecho de ser adicto a las drogas te enseña todo lo que puedes perder solo por un momento de consumo.
It is one of those movies that you finish and you feel a great emptiness and sadness because although it does not have a sad ending, it leaves you with an open ending where we see Ben relapse but also have changes in his actions in a positive way and we also see how the love of a mother will always be willing to follow her son no matter what decisions he makes. It is a sad story, but it leaves a great reflection in young people and also in families to be aware of paying attention to any change of attitude or mood in their family members and to be able to give them the support and help they need in time. I liked the way this story was told and beyond romanticizing the fact of being addicted to drugs, it teaches you everything you can lose just for a moment of consumption.

Ed è proprio il caso di parlare di questo ragazzo, finora protagonista di 3 pellicole magistrali e toccanti come Ben is Back, Manchester By The Sea e Mom, dove veste sempre i panni di un figlio, di un giovane ragazzo problematico o con una vita che non gli sorride. Lukas è riuscito in ognuno di esse a dimostrarsi vivace e tenero, complesso e semplice, sfaccettato e piatto, rendendo perfettamente la turbolenza dell'animo di chi ha perso qualcosa e non crede di poter guadagnare in futuro gioie dalla propria esistenza.

La madre, interpretata da una superba Julia Roberts, vorrebbe tanto essere altrettanto lucida e distaccata ma l'amore verso il figlio la costringerà a non gettare la spugna, a provare a riaccoglierlo e fidarsi di lui, almeno per un'ultima volta prima di mollare la presa.
Il film è tremendamente angosciante, nonostante la soavità di certe scene e nonostante l'alchimia fra madre e figlia. Si vive costantemente in un equilibrio precario in un romanzo di formazione in un certo senso che riesce a creare più pathos di un thriller. Siamo col fiato sospeso nonostante non ci siano crimini su cui indagare, colpevoli da agguantare, misteri da dipanare. Lo spettatore viene preso a calci nello stomaco ripetutamente e preso alla gola fino a fargli mancare un respiro che si fa sempre più affannoso minuto dopo minuto.
Il finale è magistrale ma forse se fosse stato ancora più coraggioso ci avrebbe regalato un film che da ottimo/eccellente sarebbe potuto diventare un capolavoro assoluto.
Forse già lo è, forse per chi lo ha vissuto, più che visto riuscirà a restare indelebile nella memoria, attaccandosi alla carne viva dello spettatore e restando impresso e scolpito nel cuore dello stesso.
Una grande storia d'amore materno e di esistenzialismo che trascende la storia stessa.
