Black As Night conocida en Latinoamérica como "Negro como la Noche" es una película de terror estadunidense dirigida por Maritte Lee Go. Es la sexta entrega de la antología de películas "Welcome to the Blumhouse", desarrollada para Amazon Prime Video.
Trama gira entorno a un chica tímida de la parte baja New Orleans, que es ataca por vampiros una noche desde ese momento todo cambia para ella y sus amigos.
Contexto
En la oscuridad de la noche a un grupo de vampiros ataca a un vagabundo de la calle, al día siguiente nadie noto este hecho. Conocemos a Shawna que nos narra la historia del verano que cambio su vida.
Shawna, después de pasar el rato con su amigo Pedro visita a su madre adicta, tiene muy buenos recuerdos de ella antes de las drogas pero ya no es la mujer que era, alli también ve al chico que le gusta y a un grupo de manifestante, que piden mejores condiciones para la localidad. En la cena con su padre y hermano, hablan de la condición de su madre, esta tiene la esperanza de que vuelva pronto además su hermano comenta algo sobre Chris, el chico que le gusta a Shawna, ella no solo es tímida sino también se acompleja de su color de piel. Mas tarde en esa noche va a una fiesta con Pedro, quien la anima a hablarle a Chris, pero falla en el intento, molesta e incomoda decide regresar a casa sola, en el camino es ataca por un grupo de vampiros. Sin embargo, la dejan antes de matarla.
Al inicio cree que todo fue un sueño, se coloca muy ansiosa y comienza cubrir todas las ventanas de su casa con periódico, pensando que podría morir por el sol. Al llegar su padre del trabajo descubre que no se a vuelto un vampiro ni nada parecido, así que no duda en salir y contarle a su amigo Pedro lo que paso, este la recibe en su casa y piensa que es una broma de Shawna, hasta que le muestra la herida de su cuello, Pedro le hace pensar que la razón por la que la atacaron fue porque creyeron que era un vagabundo, al pensar mas, Shawna cree que su madre podría estar en peligro, así que se decide irla a buscar. En el comienzo ambos piensan que la encontraron sana y salva pero su alegría no dura mucho cuando esta los ataca, ella ahora es un vampiro que muere cuando la descubren al sol.
La policía no sabe como catalogar el incidente pero aun así entierrar a su madre, su padre le muestra el lugar donde antes vivían, que fue destruido por el Huracán Katrina, esa fue la razón por la cual su madre termino de caer en las drogas, también le entrega las joyas que esta uso en vida, junto con un colgante, que nunca se quitaba, para que Shawna siempre sienta a su madre cerca.
Ella tomo una decisión, hará pagar al vampiro que ataco a su madre, para eso recluta a Pedro y habla con una chica, de la parte alta de la ciudad, que es experta en vampiros, ya con eso traza un plan para conseguir información de Marvin, el vagabundo del inicio, y así dar con el culpable. Shawna logra hablar con Chris, quien fue a darle sus condolencias, alli hace que este los acompañe a ver a Marvin, sin decirle sobre el tema de los vampiros. En un inicio, piensan que su casa esta vacía hasta que el vagabundo los ataca, pero ellos logran contener la situación y amarrarlo, después de la tortura correspondiente, él habla. Les dice donde puede estar el vampiro original, luego discuten si dejarlo ir o no. Sin embargo, este se libera así que lo terminan matando.
Chris esta algo molesto al descubrir la verdad de esa manera pero acepta ayudarlos en el próximo ataque. Pedro investiga algo de la historia del lugar, descubriendo que la morada del vampiro líder era la antigua casa de un gran esclavista, también reclutan a Graña, la experta en vampiros, y traman su ataque. Es simple, piensan fingir ser damas de compañía para adentrarse en el recinto, mientras los chicos esperan la señal de ataque. Esta misión hace que todos se acerquen, en especial Chris y Shawna. LeFrak, el vampiro, la lleva a su habitación y comienza a hipnotizarla pero alli Shawne, piensa el concejo de Granya, y se aferra a un recuerdo para evitar caer en el control, cuando este se descuida lo apuñala con una estaca, lo que les da la señal a los chicos a entrar y ayudarlas a escapar. Descubren que LeFrak no era el vampiro original, después de huir llegan a la casa de Shawna donde esta su hermano, traman su segundo movimiento, alli parece un grupo de vampiros buscando venganza y los atacan, todo parece perdido hasta que un desconocido los salva, era un taxista que los había seguido, Tunde es un vampiro no hostil que tiene una disputa con el vampiro líder de ese clan, quien es el Predicador Babineaux, y cuenta su historia.
En la conversación surge el tema del color de piel, por lo que Shawna se siente apenada pero Tunde le cuenta una historia para hacerla sentir mejor, además les aconseja quedarse en casa mientras él y su grupo acaban con el Predicador. Sin embargo, este huyo, así que el grupo de Shawna, excepto Granya que tiene miedo, van a buscarlo y lo encuentran los túneles de su mansión. Comienza la pelea y van ganando los vampiros, Pedro es gravemente herido, ya al final Shawna puede reunir todo su valor y ganarle al Predicador, ellos ganaron pero Pedro no sobrevivió. En su entierro Shawna reflexiona sobre la vida, ella y Chris ahora son novios además muy amiga de Granya, piensa que el Predicador Babineaux tuvo razón en algunas cosas como la injusticia que viven muchas familias en la ciudad, así que ayuda a las protestas publicas en apoyo a la comunidad. Opinión y Análisis
No recuerdo porque vi esta película, es de estas que son tan malas, que te entretienen ¿No se si me explico? En fin, no tenia ganas de pensar mucho al verla, y pues funciono mi plan. Me recuerda un poco a otros proyectos como The Babysitter ( con menos sangre) por el drama sobrenatural de adolescentes. La verdad este tipo de producciones, llegan a ser muy divertidos si se ven con un grupo de amigos. También hacen referencia a peliculas o series de vampiros.
Trata de dar un mensaje social, sobre problemáticas que viven muchas familias en la zona, el racismo, el desnivel de clases, entre otros, lo cual da mas interés en la película. Sin embargo, la ejecución arruina las cosas, haciendo que el mensaje pierda fuerza e gracia con el tiempo. Además tampoco es muy aterradora y juega con muchos clichés.
Ciertamente no tengo mucho que decir del tema, es una película de bajo presupuesto que trata de ser audaz con su historia, pero falla en el proceso. La película puede llegara a ser divertida si estas dispuesto a apagar tu cerebro, por el tiempo que dura ¿ La recomendaría? Si, pero no seria para cualquier grupo, es mas para personas que les guste este tipo de genero, a grupos de amigos medio borrachos o alguien que no quiera pensar un rato, para el resto creo que lo mejor seria que vean otra cosa.

Later that night she goes to a party with Peter, who encourages her to talk to Chris, but fails in the attempt, upset and uncomfortable she decides to return home alone, on the way she is attacked by a group of vampires. Opinion and Analysis
I don't remember why I saw this movie, it's one of those that are so bad, that entertain you, I don't know if I understand? Anyway, I didn't feel like thinking too much when I saw it, and my plan worked. It reminds me a little bit of other projects like The Babysitter (with less blood) because of the supernatural drama of teenagers. The truth is that this kind of productions can be a lot of fun if you watch it with a group of friends. They also make reference to vampire movies or series.
It tries to give a social message, about problems that many families live in the area, racism, class differences, among others, which gives more interest in the film. However, the execution ruins things, making the message lose strength and grace over time. It's also not very scary and plays with a lot of clichés.
I certainly don't have much to say about it, it's a low budget film that tries to be bold with its story, but fails in the process. The movie can be fun if you're willing to turn your brain off for the time it lasts. Yes, but it wouldn't be for any group, it's more for people who like this kind of genre, groups of half-drunk friends or someone who doesn't want to think for a while, for the rest I think it would be better for them to watch something else.
