Books of Blood

Hello, horror and bad movie lovers like me! I have to say hello like this because I always forget to tell you that this is not a very good movie, but it's not so bad either, it's a regular movie that has its ups and downs, although the reality is that it never got to the top, but anyway, I loved it, but it still has a lot of bad things.

Books of blood, besides being based on a book I haven't read, which also has a first adaptation made in 2009, a movie I haven't seen either, it's about four intertwined stories through time and different locations, converging in the same place, full of different horrors worthy of the best nightmares a child can have.

¡Hola, seres vivos amante del horror y las malas películas como yo! Tengo que saludar así porque después se me olvida decirles que esta no es una muy buena película que digamos, pero tampoco es tan mala que digamos, es una película regular que tiene sus altos y bajos, aunque la realidad es que nunca llegó a subir del todo, pero en fin, la amé, pero igual tiene muchas cosas malas.

Books of blood,los libros de sangre, además de estar basada en un libro que no he leído, el que también tiene una primera adaptación echa en el 2009, película que tampoco he visto, trata sobre cuatro historias entrelazadas entre sí a través del tiempo y diferentes locaciones, convergiendo en un mismo lugar, lleno de diferentes horrores dignas de las mejores pesadillas que un niño puede llegar a tener.


The story begins with two men who arrive at a bookstore to make the owner pay a debt, and the owner cannot pay, but tells them that he knows the exact location of a book that can make them millionaires: the book of blood, and I will not tell you what happens next because it is a spoiler, but the story will end with those two men.

That can be considered the first of the four stories that are going to be told, which, coincidentally, are all written in the book of blood. The second story is about a college woman who after a traumatic event escapes from her stepfather's house and tries to disappear, I spent more than half of the movie stressed because I didn't know why she had left the best beach house in a winter, having in front of her a completely monochromatic and depressing view, but anyway, people are crazy, and she is very much so, you have to see the movie to confirm it, and hate her as much as I do.

La historia comienza con dos hombres que llegan a una librería a hacerle pagar una deuda al dueño, y el dueño no puede pagar, pero les dice que conoce la ubicación exacta de un libro que los puede llegar a ser millonarios: the book of blood, y no les diré qué sigue después porque es spoiler, pero la historia va a terminar con esos dos hombres.

Esa puede considerarse el primer de los cuatro cuentos que nos van a relatar, que casualmente, todos están escritos en el libro de sangre. La segunda historia trata sobre una mujer universitaria que después de un evento traumático escapa de la casa de su padrastro y trata de desaparecer, pasé más de la mitad dee la película estresado porque no sabía por qué ella se había ido de la mejor casa de playa en un invierno, teniendo frente a sí una vista completamente monocromática y deprimente, pero en fin, la gente es loca, y ella lo es mucho, tienen que ver la película para que lo confirmen, y la odien tanto como yo.


The next tale surrounds the life of the two tender old men who give a room to our college girl who is running away, I won't say anything else because it's spoiler, but it's my favorite tale, their story is the most twisted and unhinged of all, impossible for me not to love it; although I have to be objective, I just love the story as such, their performances start being good and leave much to be desired in the course of their development, but their last appearances are perfect.

Our last and fourth story, oops, I forgot for a moment, anyway, is the one that could be said to be the main one and the center where the rest of the stories are going to converge, maybe not directly, but they are related. This fourth story is about a university professor and writer who meets a man who claims to be able to contact the spirits of the dead, she has a book unmasking all the different types of swindlers who claim to be able to do the same, so he asks her for a chance to prove it.

El siguiente cuento rodea la vida de los dos tiernos viejos que le dan un cuarto a nuestra universitaria que está huyendo, no diré nada más porque es spoiler, pero es mi cuento favorito, la historia de ellos es la más retorcida y desquiciada de todos, imposible para mí no amarla; aunque tengo que ser objetivo, solo amo la historia como tal, las actuaciones de ellos comienzan siendo buenas y dejan mucho que desear en el transcurso de su desarrollo, pero sus últimas apariciones son perfectas.

Nuestro último y cuarto cuento, ay, por un momento lo olvidé, en fin, es el que podría decirse que es el principal y el centro donde van a converger el resto de los cuentos, quizás no directamente, pero sí están relacionados. Este cuarto cuento trata sobre una profesora universitaria y además escritora que conoce a un hombre que dice poder contactar con los espíritus de los muertos, ella tiene un libro desenmascarando a todos los diferentes tipos de estafadores que afirman poder hacer lo mismo, por eso él le pide una oportunidad para demostrarlo.


I already told you it's not a bad movie, but it's not a good movie either, it's just a movie that could be better. The performances leave too much to be desired and at this moment I don't remember at all if it has a soundtrack or not, but I think it did and I liked it.

I loved the cinematography and all the depressive and terrifying color palettes, because terror doesn't only happen in abandoned houses and towns, also very bad things happen in broad daylight and with the people we least think about.

Ya les dije que es no es una película mala, pero tampoco es una película buena, tan solo es una película que puedo llegar a ser mejor. Las actuaciones dejan demasiado que desear y en este momento no recuerdo en absoluto si tiene soundtrack o no, pero creo que sí tuvo y me gustó.

Amé la fotografía y todas las paletas de colores depresivas y terroríficas que hay, porque el terror no solo ocurre en casas y pueblos abandonados, también cosas muy malas suceden a plena luz del día y con las personas que menos llegamos a pensar.


Now I'm going to tell you the reasons why I love this good but bad movie: it's completely insane! I need to read the book and watch the first movie in order to come to make mine or adapt to myself everything insane found here. More than once we have come across a movie, a book, a series, even people that we may come to despise or even think that they could come to have a better existence, but in order to do so we have to know that they have something that they can exploit in order to come to make that better existence a reality; the reason I think so of this movie is because the plot that we are being told the story about has too much potential and should be put to much better use.

Also, you guys know about my unhealthy fascination with books and horror stories, and even if a movie is bad, if both are used in a good way I'm going to like it, and that's the best thing about this movie, so that's why I love it. The way all the stories intertwine, no matter how confusing it can get because of the timelines, is exquisite, which is also one of my favorite things about it, that it's unnecessarily hard to keep up with the movie.

Ahora les voy a decir las razones por las que amo esta buena pero mala película: ¡Está completamente demente! Necesito leer el libro y ver la primera película para poder llegar a hacer mío o adaptar a mí mismo todo lo insano que se encuentra aquí. Más de una vez nos hemos encontrado con una película, un libro, una serie, incluso con personas que podemos llegar a despreciar o incluso pensar que podrían llegar a tener una mejor existencia, pero para poder hacerlo tenemos que saber que tienen algo que puedan explotar para poder llegar a hacer realidad esa mejor existencia; la razón por la que piensa así de esta película es porque el argumento sobre el que nos están contando la historia tiene demasiado potencial y debería ser utilizado mucho mejor.

Además, ustedes saben de mi insana fascinación por los libros y las historias de terror, y aunque una película sea mala, si ambas cosas son utilizadas de una buena manera me va a gustar, y eso es lo mejor de esta película, así que por eso la amo. La manera en que todos los cuentos se entrelazan, sin importar lo confuso que pueda llegar a ser por las lineas de tiempo, es exquisita, cosa que también es de mis cosas favoritas, que sea innecesariamente difícil de seguirle el paso a la película.


Just like Wounds, this is another Hulu movie that could have been excellent, but it wasn't. If it had been a miniseries, more elaborate half-hour chapters, explaining much more of the stories, it would have been much better. Here I leave you the trailer and I hope you dare to see it, the movie is not as scary as it seems, at least that's how I see for me who am already used to this, and it is not as good or bad as it seems, although I have already said this many times. I hope you dare to see the movie, and if you do, I hope you enjoy it.

P.S. I just figured out why it's The Books of Blood, plural, not singular, and I hope you guys figure it out quicker when you see the movie.

Así como Wounds, esta es otra película de Hulu que podría haber llegar a ser excelente, pero no lo fue. Si hubiera sido una miniserie, capítulos de media hora más trabajados, explicando mucho más de las historias, hubiera sido muchísimo mejor, pero en fin, qué sé yo de cine. Aquí les dejo el trailer y espero que se atrevan a verla, la película no es tan terrorífica como parece, al menos así la veo yo que ya estoy acostumbrado a esto, y tampoco es tan buena o mala como parece, aunque ya he dicho esto muchas veces. Ojalá se atrevan a ver la película, y si lo hacen, espero que la disfruten aunque sea.

Postdata: acabo de entender por qué es Los libros de Sangre, en plural, no en singular, y espero que ustedes lo descubran más rápido al ver la película.
