  1. Boys Over Flowers || TV Series Review.@abojode589d

The CineTV contest takes me back to the good old days when I was in high school and was introduced to K-drama by my friends. Gladly, I can clearly remember one of the Korean dramas that I have watched and how the movie played a part in my childhood days. I was just a teenager though and it was a movie for kids like me then.

    Boys Over Flowers (2009)

This movie follows a girl named Geum Jan Di who won a scholarship award into one of the biggest schools in South Korea, Shin Hwa High school which is made for the children of the wealthiest people of South Korea. In Shin Hwa high school, a boy named Gu Jun Pyo was one of the most popular and richest students, bullies Geum Jan Di and the both of them have had crazy experiences and moments together. In a nutshell, Gu Jun Pyo was a bully.

    Source

Eventually, Gu Jun Pyo always wants to see Geum Jan Di but she has a crush on Yoon Ji Hoo, Gu Jun Pyo’s best friend. Finally, Geum Jan Di breaks into the clique of those four friends and fell in love with Gu Jun Pyo after she confessed her feelings to Yoon Ji Hoo but doesn’t reciprocate. Gu Jun Pyo and Geum Jan Di became great lovers but their parents never wanted them for each other because of their wealth status. These two young ones faced so many problems especially from those who do not want them to be together but their love is strong and they defeated them. The movie ended by the beach where Gu Jun Pyo asked Geum Jan Di to marry him but they both concluded on pursuing their dreams before marriage.

    My Review and Rating

When I heard my friends sing the name of Gu Jun Pyo into my head every time, I feel sad that I hadn’t watched the movie but I’m glad I eventually did and it resonates with my childhood days in high school where everyone had lovers or people they were dating. Actor Lee Min Ho played the role of Gu Jun Pyo in that movie and as long as he is in the movie, it will always be a yes for me.

About the characters, Lee Min Ho killed his role the most. This is not because I’m a fan of Lee Min Ho but because he played the role just exactly the way he was supposed to do it. He didn’t just get the lines but made sure that the way he walked, talked and acted in the movie brings out the characteristics of a rude, rich child that he is supposed to be. Also, Koo Hye-sun who played Geum Jan Di was close to perfect. She acted like a real poor kid and did well with the role.

Ever since I’ve been watching this series because I’ve done that multiple times, I have always been interested in the love part. Apart from Geum Jan Di who crushes on Yoon Ji Hoo, he liked her too but he took that pain of not asking her out because he realized that Gu Jun Pyo, his friend loves her. How many friends can do that? This leaves me thinking about it all the time and leave me asking myself if I can do it for a friend.

Right now, I’m satisfied that I have given N honest review to a series I watched when I was much younger.

  2. Boys Over Flowers REVIEW [ENG/ESP]@dimplegirl656d

    EDITED WITH befunky

If you like dramas you have surely heard of Boys Over Flowers, it is like THE DRAMA of dramas, it premiered in 2009 and since then even the Koreans themselves don't want to let it go and I say that because they are constantly making references to this drama in different Korean programs. This act generated a great impact in the city, which is why she is awarded a scholarship to attend school.

    Woobin

    Source

Song Woo Bin, although not much is said about his family, we know that they are involved in a hidden mafia. The character is played by Kim Joon a singer and actor who is currently 40 years old and married. In the drama, woo bin is one of the funniest of the group (and is my favorite) plus he likes the influence he has for the American style in the way he speaks.

    Jun Pyo

    Source

Gu Jun Pyo is the son of the school principal, he is an immature spoiled brat who thinks he can have everything he wants, yet you like the character because he entertains you and as the series progresses you realize why he is the way he is. His coiled hair is the most characteristic thing about him. This character is played by the famous Lee Minho, a South Korean actor who has done many other well-known dramas such as The Heirs, Legend of the Blue Sea or The King: The Eternal Monarch.

    Ji hoo

Yoon Ji Hoo is the first F4 that Jandi meets, he is the kindest of the group, he can play the violin and has a great passion for art in general. In the series, we can see that he has a family problem that he has to solve. In addition, he is forced to choose which matters more to him, friendship or love. He is played by Kim Hyun Joong, an actor and singer who is quite loved by his fans.

    Yi Jeong

    Source

So Yi Jeong is also an artist, since he was very young he has been recognized for his pottery pieces and has been able to make a good living with it, he is also known as a casanova, until someone comes along who will make him think and feel without realizing it. This smiling character is played by Kim Bum, an actor who has participated in different well known dramas such as Ghost Doctor,

I've lost count of how many times I've watched this drama, and every time I laugh as if it were the first time, I really like Jandi as the main character as well as her friendship with her best friend, but nothing beats the friendship of the F4 each one is unique in their own way and gives their own touch to the plot, it's a little long (usually dramas have between 16 to 20 chapters) but it's worth it. I definitely recommend it.

    Episodes: 25

    Episodios: 25

Thank you very much for reading, have a nice day or a nice evening. 🥰🥰

  3. That's A Wrap (Boys Over Flowers)@wanderingmoon1451d

Boys Over Flowers is a 2009 Korean drama staring Gu Hye Seon, Lee Min Ho, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Bum, and Kim Joon. It is one of a handful of adaptations of the manga Hana Yori Dango written by Yoko Kamio.

It follows the character Geum JanDi who is given a scholarship to an exclusive school for privileged children from rich families after she saves a student who was bullied to almost commit suicide.

She tried to stay under the radar as four of the richest kids, Goo JoonPyo, Yoon Ji Hoo, So Yi Jung, Song Woo Bin, decide who gets bullied. Until her friend accidentally falls and drops ice cream on the shoes of Gu JunPyo, the leader of the group known as F4. She stands up to him and gets "the red card".

Gu JunPyo is angry and wants to force JanDi to quite the school so he gets different students to bully her in a variety of ways. She perseveres and finally confronts him putting him in his place and inadvertently makes him fall in love with her.

Being that he is the heir of a major conglomerate his mother will not allow him to be with her and makes things difficult for her by putting obstacles in her way and causing JanDi's parents to lose their business and eventually move in with relatives in a fishing village.

This is far from the evil that Chairwoman Kang commits just to prevent her son's interactions with a lowly common girl.

There are love triangles and intrigue.

This series has 25 episodes, each just over an hour long. I have seen most of the first episode of the Japanese version and think the Korean one is much better (better acting, better actors and better writers). From some of what I have read about the book this version sticks more closely to the original with minor variations. Since I have not yet looked for the book series I'm unsure of exactly how close the Korean adaptation is.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this series and highly recommend you watch it.

I know the last time I reviewed an Asian drama I mentioned another Zhou LuSi series and that is coming soon.

  4. Boys Over Flowers (Hallyu - cultura coreana) (SPA/ENG)@bethyjade1575d

Hello, internet people! Everything alright? We continue with the Hallyu (Korean wave). This time I will talk about one of the most famous Doramas in the world, Boys over Flowers. A drama that gripped me from beginning to end and whose plot is quite original (within some clichés).

    image.png

    Fuente

Jan-di is a lower middle class girl who, after saving a student from committing suicide at the prestigious Shinhwa School, becomes famous and under social pressure must be accepted into the school reserved for "Korean royalty". Jan-di doesn't want to attend as she is aware of how uncomfortable she will feel in a world that is not hers, but under pressure from her family, she decides to accept to attend the school.

    image.png

    Fuente

On her first day at school, Jan-di is run over by a sea of girls rushing to the school entrance excitedly shouting "The F4 are here!". Jan-di peeks through the crowd to find out what they are about and she has her first close encounter with them.

The F4 is about 4 boys, the richest, most popular and handsome in the school (clichés begin) of which their leader is Gu Jun Pyo, the most infamous, arrogant and richest of the four boys and who goes around the school humiliating students regardless of their gender while being praised by the other students. (I actually died laughing at that first encounter because Jan-di asks herself "who is this madman" and the way she does it is very funny).

    image.png

    Fuente

Although the attitude of the four "little bullies" annoys our tender protagonist, she prefers to stay out of trouble since they already look down on her for being what they consider "poor". But it's not until Gu Jun Pyo decides to humiliate Jan-di's new friend by ordering her to lick his shoes, which she had accidentally stained with ice cream, that Jan-di takes matters into her own hands, publicly humiliating the leader by throwing him to the ground with the nose full of ice cream, to the laughter of his friends.

After the altercation, Jan-di understands who she messed with, because in her locker she receives the infamous F4 red card, which tells the other students that they must Bullying who receives that card. The things to be done to the "offender" are planned by Gu Jun Pyo and executed by the whole school, so Jan-di is affected by Bullying for days. However, the straw that broke the camel's back was that the boy spread the rumor that Jan-di was pregnant, so the girl's patience ran out and she faced him again, causing Gu Jun Pyo and his huge ego to come to the conclusion mistaken that Jan-di's way of reacting is because she was in love with him.

By expressing his thoughts to her in a rather arrogant way, Jan-di pulls him out of the mistake being quite abrupt and leaves, leaving the young man with a wound in his ego and a lot to think about because the ugly duckling (as he called her) seems to be quite more interesting than all those rich and beautiful girls who follow him wherever he goes, and that is how the story between the two protagonists unfolds.

    image.png

    Fuente

Although she detests Gu Jun Pyo and the F4 for being an infamous gang, Jan-di begins to feel attracted to Ji-hoo, one of the F4, and it's not only because of his physical beauty but after observing him, she realises that he is sensitive, passionate about music and the arts and is the only one who helps her when she suffers from bullying, even though he belongs to the gang that demands the mistreatment.

    image.png

    Fuente

However, he pays no attention to the girl because he has feelings for another girl and by the time he develops feelings for Jan-di, it's too late.

    image.png

    Fuente

I'm going to start by giving my opinion of the drama starting with this character (Ji-hoo) and it's that all his development as well as the ending he had seemed very unfair to me. Throughout the story, he is relegated to being Jan-di's tearful handkerchief and the cupid between her and Gu Jun Pyo, suffering internally and putting aside his feelings for the happiness of his two friends. Despite being willing to love intensely, he is taken to the Friend Zone twice, in the end he doesn't find his other half and in fact he ends up practically as he began, behind Jan-di, taking care of her and being her best friend

    image.png

    Fuente

On the other hand, we can find many clichés such as the typical popular, rich girls who are horrible as a person and are in love with the main character (in this case all of F4), the typical good girl who falls in love with the Bad Boy and ends up changing him, the typical beautiful, popular, millionaire boys and the typical lower middle class family who behave inappropriately simply to mark the class difference between elegance and vulgarity.

But we can also find deep plots such as the origins of each of the F4, which are quite heartbreaking and are a proof of the fact that money is not everything and that in the big mansions one also suffers. For example, each of them is unhappy in terms of their family life, while Jan-di, despite the shortcomings she may have, is very happy with her family and has a warmth of home that the four boys lack.

    Fuente

The great problem existing in "Korean royalty" is also explored and criticized, and that is to sell their children by business associations in addition to not granting them a choice regarding their future. In high society in Korea, parents often arrange marriages for their children that they think are convenient, usually with the son or daughter heiress of another business conglomerate, in order to multiply profits by associating both companies, or working side by side in new projects. In this way, young people cannot choose who to marry and are forced to marry people they don't love or know. In addition, these young people don't have the power to choose what to study and what to do with their lives later, since they must inherit the company of their parents and become directors and soon presidents of said company, so there are no options to be a musician, singer, plastic artist, etc. It should be noted that not all families force their children to do what they have, we have examples like Choi Siwon (Super Junior K- Pop boys band) who, in addition to being the son of the owners of a business conglomerate, is also an idol.

I love the Dorama's photography, the shots are beautiful and the locations, I think they make the most of the city, but if I have to praise the performances, they are a 10 out of 10. The most absurd situations feel super natural and the dramatic scenes really move you to tears. The actors convey each of their feelings to perfection and that's what you look for in good material.

The soundtrack is also beautiful and is quite accurate, each of the songs accompany the scenes very well and the truth is good music. I'll leave them below if you want to hear it.

    image.png Source

A Korean drama is like an album of playing cards. No matter how many times you buy a deck of cards, you still keep buying them.

My first dorama was Stairs to Heaven, what a dorama! It made me cry a lot. I actually watched it, because my Father was the one who watched it every day.

Since then, I watch one more than the other. But a few months ago, watching some of those videos on facebook, I found this dorama with the Spanish title, Los chicos son mejor que las flores.

That was the first thing that caught my attention. After watching about two chapters, I started watching more and more of them.

The funny thing is that from the first chapter, this dorama seemed so ridiculous to me that, not caring about that, I kept watching it. What a horror! was my expression when I noticed that I was watching chapter after chapter hahahaha.

    kkot_09.jpg Source

You know why? because it's ridiculous enough and with such dramatic and vulgarly exaggerated scenes that you can't stop laughing. Because of how unrealistic most of the scenes are, which are obviously impossible to happen in life.

I admit that sometimes I felt like I was watching Sailor Moon, the screams before fighting, the flying kicks, the dumbness of the main actress, the grimaces on her face, the uniforms of the popular girls, in short. Very ridiculously funny.

I laughed in every chapter, because of how exaggerated they are in most of their scenes. Also the characters have a funny and very cool style in the way they talk and dress.

I've never seen so many clothes in my life! hahahaha, every scene, every chapter is full of Asian fashion, there are more clothes than in a fashion company.

They have very good wardrobe. It is worth mentioning that this Asian drama was premiered in 2009, but even watching it in 2021, you can still enjoy the extensive Asian fashion.

I don't like Asian men, but I don't deny that there are handsome actors. Not as they look in this Boys Over Flowers drama, but rather as they currently look off camera.

This dorama is like I said at the beginning, it's a repeat deck album, because they repeat a lot of the same drama. Rich, popular boy from an important, high society group at school (exaggeratedly in the style of being like gods), who humiliates (too much for my taste) the poor girl he ends up loving.

The difference is that she stands up for herself (sometimes well, sometimes not), and has that sense of humor and indifference to her social class.

For those who like sci-fi, drama, nonsense scenes, you can enjoy watching it.

You will be left with a lot of questions, but you will laugh a lot too.

One of my questions is Where the heck are the teachers, principals, adults, of that famous and important school?

I think the only adults are the parents of both protagonists Lee Min Ho (Gu Jun Pyo) y Koo Hye-Sun (Geum Jan Di) hahahaha. That's why I say, it has too many mistakes, but it gives a lot of laughs.

This dorama is like a parody in its entirety hahahaha. You'll have fun watching it (if you haven't seen it yet).

Another detail that made me laugh, is seeing the curls in the main character Jum Pyo's hair. It's so weird to see an Asian with curlers in his hair.

Plus the way he flaunts his hair and his whole attire to the point of wearing suits and clothes of his own free will (including at school), it's so ridiculous that I just had to ignore that remarkable detail.

That's why, I love the chapter where Jan Di yells at her how ridiculous he, looks with that hairstyle and outfit hahahahahahahaha.

    That's why I'm telling you, you'll laugh a lot.

I hope you'll be encouraged to watch it. It's very fictional, unreal, Sailor Moon style but you will laugh and laugh, even if you hate scripts and drama.🤣

Te divertirá verla (si aún no la has visto)
