Year: 2012 Category: Drama. Director: Rufus Norris. Cast: Eloise Laurence, Tim Roth, Cillian Murphy, Rory Kinnear, Robert Emms, Bill Milner, Zana Marjanović, Seeta Indranias, Denis Lawson, Nell Tiger Free, Lily James.

    Plot

A girl testifies to a violent attack by a man in one of three interconnected stories in a British neighborhood.

    Opinion

In the film we see a story that is segmented in the lives of several characters that are related to each other, Rick, a young man with mental problems, and his parents; Mr. Oswald, a temperamental and violent neighbor, and his three daughters; the relationship between Mike, a teacher, and Kasia, an Au pair who lives in Archie's house, whom she helps take care of his children Jed and Skunk, a girl with diabetes around whom all other stories revolve.

After an incident that takes place in the first instant of the film, in which Mr. Oswald brutally hits Rick in the presence of Skunk, because his daughter accused him of having abuse her, from there the story begins to unfold slowly, showing us the personalities of the characters, their problems, and the relationship they have between them.

It's hard to talk about any other aspect of the story without mentioning spoilers, so I'm going to focus on the more technical aspects.

The way in which the script is structured is solid, but I think the story lacked something, I do not know if it fails to risk no more with the end, or if simply from the beginning the story they are telling us is ordinary. However, as far as the narration is concerned, the film is fine, I really liked the direction, the lighting of the image, the style, the staging, the movements of the camera and the shots are very good, even in the choice of colors are right.

The performances are very good too, Eloise Laurence catches us with her interpretation from the first moment with her charisma and innocence. Robert Emms does a convincing job too, especially considering that he does not appear too long on screen and still manages to convey what his character required. The rest of the characters are very well interpreted, in what refers to the performance the film is quite solid in each of the performers.

To finish, I think it's a film well done from the technical point of view, the story is well told, although I feel there is not much to tell anyway, so I could personally say that the protagonist of the story is not the history itself but the way in which the story is told.

    7/10

Good direction, good performances, but I think the script missed something.
