I don't know where to start with this movie, it never caught my attention, neither the title, nor the story, nothing at all, so that's why almost 1 year later I finally decided to watch it just to see it, to know what I was missing, not because it had caught my attention from one moment to the next. I started watching it almost with annoyance, with boredom, and I ended up crying, although I cry for everything, but still, I ended up crying with the credits and loving the movie like I never thought I would, I was completely surprised and I did not expect it, it was beautiful everything.
I didn't know the story of Candyman, so I loved that they explained it and put it in context, so I will do it with you. This movie is about Anthony, a frustrated painter, so to speak, who in his search for inspiration comes to know the story of Candyman, unknowingly, uses his story in his art and out of nowhere begin a series of murders without control and without any explanation, not only causing many rumors and fears, but the situation changes Anthony's life forever, as many secrets are revealed and nothing will ever be the same again.
No sé dónde comenzar con esta película, nunca me llamó la atención, ni el título, ni la historia, nada de nada, así que por eso casi 1 año después es que finalmente decidí verla por verla, para saber de qué me estaba perdiendo y ya, no porque me hubiera llamado la atención de un momento para otro. Comencé a verla casi con fastidio, con hastío, y terminé llorando, aunque yo lloro por todo, pero igual, terminé llorando con los créditos y amando la película como no creí hacerlo nunca, es que me sorprendió por completo y no me lo esperaba, fue hermoso todo.
Yo no me sabía la historia de Candyman, así que me encantó que la explicaran y me pusieran en contexto, así que lo haré con ustedes. ESta película trata sobre Anthony, un pintor frustrado, por decirlo de cierta forma, que en su búsqueda de inspiración llega a conocer la historia de Candyman, sin saberlo, usa su historia en su arte y de la nada comienzan una serie de asesinatos sin control y sin explicación alguna, no solo causando muchos rumores y temores, si no que la situación cambia la vida de Anthony para siempre, pues muchos secretos son revelados y nada será igual nunca más.

I'm sleepy, I have a migraine, I'm eating peanuts, which by the way is really good and I haven't bought them in a week, but I still can't stop writing about this movie. One of my favorite things is the movie's ability to deceive, or at least it had to deceive me, it started out being one thing and ended up being something completely different, the first thing was good, decent, and ended up slapping me in the face, stabbing me in the eye and I still ended up thanking it for doing all that and more.
Algo para lo que definitivamente no me había preparado es para lo buena que terminó siendo la película, joder, es excelente, no es la mejor película del mundo, pero está construida muy bien, si no a la perfección, pues el nivel de escalado que tiene está casi milimétricamente cronometrado, las escenas de suspenso justo donde van, los scarejumps justo donde van, las escenas con diálogos explicativos justo donde van, las escenas sangrientas justo donde van, y es raro que esto sea así, pues no siempre hacer las cosas como se deben tienen un resultado tan bueno como en esta película, pero es así y me encanta que lo sea, porque solo demuestra que cualquier persona que diga que esta película es mala es porque tiene mierda en la cabeza.
Tengo sueño, migraña, estoy comiendo maní, que pro cierto está muy rico y tenía como una semana que no compraba, pero igual no puedo dejar de escribir sobre esta película. Una de mis cosas favoritas es la capacidad de engañar que tiene la película, o al menos que tuvo para engañarme a mí, comenzó siendo una cosa y terminó en algo completamente diferente, lo primero era bueno, decente, y terminó dándome una cachetada en la cara, apuñalándome un ojo y aún así terminé dándole las gracias de que hiciera todo eso y más.

I must praise with all the magnitude of the migraine I have the special effects, they were exquisite, too much, especially Anthony's makeup, I will say this because you will see it in the trailer, but his hand traumatized me, I was more scared to see his hand all infected than to see Candyman killing, that is, that putrid hand gave me too much disgust, and it was the only thing I could feel when I saw it, or when I remembered I had a hand like that, because although the suspense and tension became unbearable in certain moments, that ugly hand almost made me want to vomit, it was horrible, I almost had nightmares with that hand.
El punto más fuerte de la película es en lo que se termina convirtiendo, una película protesta, pues si bien es una excelente película de terror, el mensaje detrás de todo eso habla sobre la falta de justicia racial que existe, donde las personas negras siempre tienen la culpa de todo solo por ser negras, entonces, la forma en que perfectamente cerraron el círculo en esta película no tiene igual, pueden llegar a decir que la historia es forzada y que lo hicieron así solo para que tuviera sentido todo, y está bien, pero eso no le quita magnitud a lo que vimos, a lo que la película nos da, no le quita nada de verdadero a la historia que nos están contando y el impacto que puede llegar a tener, de nada sirve que traten de ocultarla y silenciarla, no lo van a lograr, y me acabo de marear, puta migraña.
Debo alabar con toda la magnitud de la migraña que tengo los efectos especiales, fueron exquisitos, demasiado, en especial los de maquillaje de Anthony, diré esto porque lo van a ver en el trailer, pero su mano me traumó, me daba más miedo ver su mano toda infectada que ver a Candyman asesinando, o sea, esa mano toda pútrida me daba demasiado asco, y era lo único que podía sentir cuando la veía, o cuando me acordaba que tenía la mano así, pues si bien el suspenso y la tensión llegan a ser insoportables en ciertos momentos, la mano fea esa terminaba por casi hacerme querer vomitar, fue horrible, casi tengo pesadillas con esa mano.

If you are looking for a good horror movie, Candyman is a good option, if you are looking for a movie that has more substance than a mere horror movie, Candyman is a good option, and if you are tired of watching cliché movies of white people, Candyman is your best option, because I tell you that you will love it, especially when they say that black people do not go around invoking ghosts just to prove that they do not exist, that scene gave me too much laughter, especially because at the end they did end up invoking them. I laughed, I was scared, I was disgusted, I love this movie.
Otra de las cosas que amé de la película es que usaron muchas escenas hechas con las sombras de títeres para contar partes de la historia, me sorprendió ver la primera escena así, y ya después tenía mucha ansiedad esperando la siguiente escena con títeres para disfrutarla más de lo que debería. Fue simplemente exquisito, me encantó, lo amé, sobre todo al final, pues sí, los créditos de la película van a tener escenas de ese tipo también, y la historia que cuentan ahí, aunque esta vez sin voz, es tan fuerte e impactante que me hizo llorar, poco, pero me hizo llorar, y era algo que no esperaba nunca, solo por las escenas de los créditos volvería a ver la película.
Si buscan una buena película de terror, Candyman es una buena opción, si buscan una película que tenga más sustancia que una mera película de terror, Candyman es una buena opción, y si están cansados de ver películas clichés de gente blanca, Candyman es su mejor opción, porque les digo que la van a amar, sobre todo cuando dicen que la gente negra no anda invocando fantasmas solo para probar que no existen, esa escena me dio demasiado risa, sobre todo porque al final sí lo terminaron invocando. Me reí, me asusté, me dio asco, amo esta película.
