The movie opens with the Indian men's hockey team playing the final match of the World Cup against Pakistan. There, Pakistan lead by 1 goal and in the last minute, India got a chance to save India from defeat with a penalty after fouling the captain of the Indian team. But unfortunately Captain Kabir Khan misses a penalty in the last minute and shakes hands with the opposing team after the game, this handshake incident is photographed by the journalists and Kabir Khan is branded as a traitor, which destroys Kabir Khan's hockey career. They left their home with their mother.
7 years later, the Indian Hockey Federation is talking down women's hockey and it is known that the condition of the women's hockey team is so bad that no one wants to coach them. But advocate Uttam Singh told the federation that he has 16 best women hockey players and Kabir Khan is waiting outside to coach them. As a result, the Hockey Federation allowed training to begin and coach Kabir Khan decided to train the women's hockey team to win the World Cup after 7 years to prove himself wrong as a traitor.
It can be seen that on the first day, the coach can understand the lack of discipline and team bonding among his team of 16 members.
