   If you're a fan of disaster movies mixed with a healthy dose of killer animals, this film might just be the one for you. It's a fast-paced, tension-filled thriller that combines the terror of a natural disaster with the sheer horror of being hunted by deadly predators. While it’s far from perfect, it manages to deliver enough adrenaline pumping moments to keep you at the edge of your seat.

   Synopsis (Spoilers)

   Directed by Alexandre Aja, this film opens with Haley, a college swimmer, receiving a call from her sister about their estranged father, Dave, who hasn’t been responding to calls. Despite a Category 5 hurricane bearing down on their Florida hometown, Haley decides to check on him. She heads to his old house, only to find him injured in the crawlspace beneath the house, with giant alligators lurking all around.

   

   From there, the movie turns into a survival story. With the floodwaters rising rapidly, Haley and her father are trapped beneath the house, trying to outwit and outrun the alligators. The storm outside is unforgiving and the creatures in the water are even worse. It becomes a battle of wits and endurance as Haley and Dave fight to survive both the flood and the jaws of these monstrous gators.

   My Review and Rating

   I should have suspected from the title that this film is one to make someone's skin crawl. Let’s just say this is one of those movies that knows exactly what it is: a straight-up creature feature. It doesn’t pretend to be deep or philosophical. It’s all about survival, terror and the instinct to stay alive. And honestly, I was on board for it. From the get-go, the movie dives right into the action and it never really lets up. The tension is relentless and as the water rises and the gators get more aggressive, you can feel your heart rate go up a notch.

   

   Now, let’s talk about Haley. Kaya Scodelario, who plays her, is excellent in the role. She manages to make her character feel both vulnerable and fierce. I mean, the girl literally swims with alligators and manages to hold her own! The father-daughter dynamic between Haley and Dave, played by Barry Pepper, was surprisingly touching too. Their relationship added a little more depth to what would otherwise just be a "run-from-the-monsters" plot. But, and this is a big but, there were moments where I wanted to scream at the screen because of their questionable decisions. Like, why the heck are you swimming straight into the jaws of an alligator when you could have just stayed put? It's one of those movies where you’ll find yourself yelling, “Don’t do that!” more than once.

   I also have to throw in some personal criticism. The CGI for the alligators was decent but it wasn’t always great. There were moments when the gators looked super realistic and other times where I felt like I was watching a late 90s monster movie. Also, some of the plot points are just...well, they stretch the boundaries of believability. I get that Haley is a strong swimmer, but really? She survives multiple alligator attacks, gets thrown around like a rag doll and somehow manages to get back up every time? Lol. Felt like watching Peter Griffin being struck to death by lightning but manages to come back alive and unscathed in the next episode. It was bordering on superhero territory by the end and while I love a strong protagonist, I couldn’t help but chuckle at some of her near-invincible moments.

   

   That said, the movie does excel at building tension. The use of the rising floodwaters as a ticking clock was a brilliant move which I commend. You’re constantly aware that time is running out and it makes every encounter with the gators feel that much more dangerous. The claustrophobic setting of the crawlspace, combined with the relentless storm, made the stakes feel real. I have to give it credit for making me genuinely anxious throughout.

   

   Overall, I think Crawl isn’t going to win any awards for its plot or character development, but it’s a solid, entertaining creature feature that delivers exactly what it promises. It’s a fun, intense ride that’s perfect for a night when you just want to watch something thrilling and a little bit ridiculous.

   I'll leave it with a rating of 3.5/5. If you can suspend your disbelief and just go with the flow, this film offers a good mix of tension, action and gator filled thrills. Just don’t expect too much in terms of realism and you’ll have a great time.

   Infierno en la tormenta parte de la premisa de una historia simple , cliché en el mundo del terror y el género catástrofe pero eficaz.

   La trama como dije, es muy sencilla: Una mujer va a buscar a su padre en medio de un huracán devastador porque este , no da señales de vida. Al llegar a la casa de este y hallarlo con vida milagrosamente, ambos se dan cuenta que el menor de sus problemas es la tormenta ya que esta trajo consigo a un grupo de enormes cocodrilos hambrientos comenzando así, una desesperante carrera para salir con vida del sitio.

   Hell in the Storm is based on the premise of a simple, cliché story in the world of horror and disaster genre but effective.

   The plot as I said, is very simple: A woman goes to look for her father in the middle of a devastating hurricane because he is not showing signs of life. Upon arriving at his house and finding him miraculously alive, they both realize that the least of their problems is the storm as it brought with it a group of huge hungry crocodiles, thus starting a desperate race to survive the place.

   Si bien, no me agradan mucho las películas donde se usan cocodrilos o tiburones , esta si que logro atraparme. Este tipo de películas me parecen una maraña sin sentido pero **Crawl**, para mi , es la excepción.

   No se estanca solo en enfocarse en los cocodrilos ni inventar historias absurdas de su origen , sino que nuestros protagonistas, tienen una historia detrás y logran profundizar en dicho vinculo de padre e hija mientras tratan de sobrevivir tanto al huracán como a esos depredadores que los están acechando en su zona de confort, donde son mas rápidos , en el agua por lo que aquí, se les presenta una desventaja a nuestros protas.

   Even though I'm not a fan of movies featuring crocodiles or sharks, this one really managed to captivate me. These kinds of movies usually seem like a pointless mess to me, but **Crawl**, in my opinion, is the exception.

   It doesn't just focus on the crocodiles or invent absurd stories about their origins, but our protagonists have a backstory and manage to delve into that father-daughter bond while trying to survive both the hurricane and the predators lurking in their comfort zone, where they are faster in the water, giving our protagonists a disadvantage in this situation.

   Con respecto a los cocodrilos, como dije, no hicieron su origen absurdo sino mas bien, algo factible ya que en algún suburbio esto podría pasar porque las granjas de cocodrilos existen y eso le da un toque mas aterrador (Incluso hubo reportes de caimanes que se colaron en hogares por el drenaje).

   Otra cosa a destacar es que no se ven falsos como en muchas películas. Los efectos son espectaculares, se ven reales y eso los hacen mas aterradores. Realmente pensé eran cocodrilos entrenados para la película ja,ja,ja.

   Lo que si voy a criticar es que algunas cosas son poco realistas. Las mordidas de estos animales puede llegar a 1000 kg, haciéndolo uno de los animales con la mordida mas fuerte y aun así, no despedaza a los protas cuando los muerde en su intento de devorarlos. Esto si me resulto poco creíble aunque puedo desconocer técnicas de cocodrilos. Si alguien es experto que me explique como te salvas de la mordida de uno porque literal, te despedazan.

   Another thing to highlight is that they do not look fake like in many movies. The effects are spectacular, they look real and that makes them more frightening. I really thought they were trained crocodiles for the film, hahaha.

   What I am going to criticize is that some things are unrealistic. The bites of these animals can reach 1000 kg, making it one of the animals with the strongest bite and yet, it does not shred the protagonists when it bites them in an attempt to devour them. This I found to be unbelievable although I may be unaware of crocodile techniques. If someone is an expert, please explain to me how to survive a bite from one because literally, they tear you apart.

   Realmente, me gustó mucho la película. Me generó mucha ansiedad al ver los intentos desesperados por escapar mientras los perseguían estas bestias colosales. sin duda, una película de terror ideal para pasar un rato de miedo y que te deja enseñanzas: Hacer caso de las alertas de evacuación, no mudarse cerca de una granja de cocodrilos y aprender a disparar,conducir y nadar ja,ja,ja .

   Le doy 8/10. Recomendable ¡Saludos!

   I really enjoyed the movie. It made me very anxious to watch the desperate attempts to escape while being pursued by these colossal beasts. Without a doubt, an ideal horror movie to spend a scary time and that leaves you with lessons: **Pay attention to evacuation alerts, do not move near a crocodile farm, and learn to shoot,drive and swim haha.**

   Hola cinéfilos, es un enorme placer escribir nuevamente para todos ustedes nuevamente. He decidido ver una película con una tonalidad catastrófica, tenía bastante tiempo que no me disponía a ver una producción de este tipo desde “No miren Arriba” aunque la historia evidentemente es muy diferente, no muestra el poder de la naturaleza y sus consecuencias. Me agradan este tipo de películas ya que soy amante de los efectos especiales y de las historias llenas de emoción. Hoy quiero compartir con todos ustedes mi opinión personal sobre “Infierno Bajo el Agua” o Crawl en su título en inglés.

   Esta es una producción estadounidense del año 2019 de 87 minutos se introduce en el género de desastres naturales, pero también con la aparición significativa de animales salvajes, al ser recreada muy cerca de los pantanos de florida observaremos peligrosos cocodrilos que aprovechan las inundaciones para invadir territorio de los humanos.

   Sinopsis:

   Un huracán de categoría 5 se acerca a el estado de Florida, ante la falta de respuesta de su padre, Haley, decide ir en búsqueda de su progenitor a pesar de las ordenes de evacuación. Descubrirá que las inundaciones provocan que los cocodrilos del pantano se acerquen al pueblo amenazando con la vida de los que decidieron no abandonar sus hogares a pesar de las advertencias.

   Análisis de la Película

   Esta película nos muestra una historia interesante, a pesar de que no es algo muy innovador o que se resalte en la industria del cine, me parece una historia atractiva, de hecho, no recuerdo haber visto una película similar, de cocodrilos propiamente si he visto, pero con las características como las que nos presenta esta película, la verdad no recuerdo, por esa razón decidí darle una oportunidad a esta produccion.

   ¿Qué hubo de Diferente?

   A diferencia de otras producciones de desastres naturales donde se recorre una gran porción de terreno o diferentes ciudades, esta se produce en un espacio bastante limitado (gran parte de la trama ocurre en un sótano) incluso los efectos del huracán solo se observan en forma de lluvia e inundaciones alrededor de un vecindario. No sabremos el daño o alcance de esta tormenta, pero si nos centraremos en la historia de Haley y su padre.

   Espacio Limitado

   Esta característica ayuda a impulsar las emociones, creo que tener cocodrilos a tan solo unos metros empacaría hasta al más valiente, esa sensación de encierro y ahogo me parece beneficioso para el film, no tener escape más que enfrentarse al animal con la mordida más poderosa del planeta es algo que definitivamente le imprime tensión a la trama, además, debo mencionar que el agua fluye y sube de nivel por lo que el tiempo es limitado para no ahogarse en el sótano de la casa.

   Los Cocodrilos

   Los reptiles son presentados exclusivamente mediante efectos especiales, sin embargo, es notorio que este tipo de trabajo técnico nos presenta un diseño decente pero no extraordinario, se nota en demasía que son efectos especiales, quizás la tecnología no está tan avanzada para recrear a estos majestuosos reptiles y le estoy exigiendo demasiado a la película, pero me gustaría un poco más de realismo desde el aspecto visual de los efectos especiales.

   Algo que pude notar sobre el comportamiento de estos cocodrilos en la película, es su insaciable sed de sangre, por momentos da la ligera impresión de que solo asesinan por deporte, debido a que en algunos casos no se devoran a sus víctimas, pero si buscan a las demás personas para despedazarlas.

   Si buscamos la ficha técnica de esta producción nos dice que es una película de terror (por supuesto alejado del tema paranormal). Este tipo de terror se logra debido a la tensión anteriormente mencionada, agregando, escenas de sustos con efectos especiales y de sonido que quizás en alguna oportunidad nos hagan saltar de la silla si contamos con el volumen suficiente en el televisor o dispositivo.

   Personajes

   Hace algunas semanas conversaba con algunos conocidos cinéfilos de esta comunidad, coincidimos en que las películas de desastres naturales llevan una trama que toca aspectos familiares, si pensamos por un instante sobre algunas de las películas sobre catástrofes en la mayoría se introducen en temas familiares, este caso es padre e hija.

   Imagino que este aspecto familiar se introduce en este tipo de películas debido a el efecto en las emociones del espectador, al momento de una catástrofe evidentemente lo que se viene a la mente es el bienestar de nuestros familiares.

   Ahora bien, en esta película algo que no me pareció muy real de estos personajes es su inusual resistencia, a pesar de las heridas, la perdida incesante de sangre, huesos rotos, agua en los pulmones, debemos añadirle la fortaleza de aguantar varias de la mordedura más poderosa de toda la historia y seguir batallando hasta el final, eso me parece irreal.

   Si deseaban colocarles protagonismo a los cocodrilos debieron agregar más personas para que fuesen atacados despiadadamente, a pesar de que la película introduce esta característica y observamos algunos desafortunados engullidos, los protagonistas son ferozmente mordidos, incluso con el mortal “giro de la muerte” de estos poderosos reptiles, sin embargo, no parece afectarle mucho en lo físico y tampoco a nivel psicológico. En ese punto baja un poco la credibilidad de la película.

   Opinión Final

   A pesar de sus fallos notorios, la película es entretenida, nos presenta escenas de acción con los cocodrilos y también cierta tensión en la trama, el efecto del espacio limitado logra generar cierta ansiedad en algunas escenas. Una película que de verdad no le tenia mucha fe pero que ha sido al menos un poco mejor de lo que esperaba. Su impactante historia con algo de tensión y susto es buena, además, es quizás una probabilidad que ocurra un desborde en los pantanos de florida y que los cocodrilos puedan invadir los pueblos cercanos, eso le añade vistosidad.

   Es una película con un ritmo decente y que capta la atención del espectador, es una típica trama donde se introduce lo familiar, pero que al mismo tiempo nos presenta otra perspectiva sobre un desastre natural.

   ¿La Recomiendo?

   En definitiva, no es la mejor película del mundo desde la credibilidad, sin embargo, creo que vale la pena ver en una tarde con amigos, es una opción disponible en el catalogo de Netflix e inesperadamente satisfactoria desde mi punto de vista, creo que en líneas generales cumple con lo más importante, entretenernos durante más de 80 minutos, una mezcla muy interesante de catástrofe natural con la presencia de feroces animales que desean comer todo lo que se encuentre a su alcance.    Unlike other natural disaster productions where a large portion of land or different cities are covered, this one takes place in a fairly limited space (much of the plot takes place in a basement) and even the effects of the hurricane are only seen in the form of rain and flooding around a neighborhood.    This feature helps to drive the emotions, I think having crocodiles just a few meters away would pack even the bravest, that feeling of confinement and drowning seems to me beneficial to the film, having no escape but to face the animal with the most powerful bite on the planet is something that definitely prints tension to the plot, also, I should mention that the water flows and rises in level so the time is limited to not drown in the basement of the house.

   The Crocodiles

   The reptiles are presented exclusively through special effects, however, it is notorious that this type of technical work presents us with a decent design but not extraordinary, it is too noticeable that they are special effects, perhaps the technology is not so advanced to recreate these majestic reptiles and I am demanding too much to the film, but I would like a little more realism from the visual aspect of the special effects.

   Something I could notice about the behavior of these crocodiles in the film, is their insatiable thirst for blood, at times it gives the slight impression that they only kill for sport, because in some cases they do not devour their victims, but they do look for other people to tear them apart.

   If we look for the technical sheet of this production, it tells us that it is a horror movie (of course far from the paranormal theme). This type of terror is achieved due to the tension previously mentioned, adding, scenes of scares with special effects and sound that perhaps in some opportunity will make us jump out of the chair if we have enough volume in the TV or device.

   A few weeks ago I was talking with some movie buffs of this community, we agreed that natural disaster movies have a plot that touches on family aspects, if we think for a moment about some of the movies about catastrophes in most of them are introduced in family issues, this case is father and daughter.

   I imagine that this family aspect is introduced in this type of films due to the effect on the emotions of the viewer, at the time of a catastrophe obviously what comes to mind is the welfare of our relatives.

   Now, in this film something that did not seem very real to me about these characters is their unusual resistance, despite the wounds, the incessant loss of blood, broken bones, water in the lungs, we must add the strength to withstand several of the most powerful bite of the whole story and continue battling until the end, that seems unreal to me.

   If they wanted to put the crocodiles in the spotlight they should have added more people to be attacked mercilessly, although the film introduces this feature and we see some unfortunate gobbles, the protagonists are fiercely bitten, even with the deadly "death twist" of these powerful reptiles, however, it does not seem to affect them much physically or psychologically. At that point the credibility of the film drops a bit.

   Despite its notorious flaws, the film is entertaining, it presents us with action scenes with crocodiles and also some tension in the plot, the effect of limited space manages to generate some anxiety in some scenes. A movie that I really didn't have much faith in but it has been at least a little better than I expected. It's shocking story with some tension and scares is good, besides, it is perhaps a probability that an overflow occurs in the swamps of Florida and that crocodiles can invade the nearby towns, that adds to it.

   Low expectations can lead to surprising results and the result is that this is a pretty fun movie. I mean this is a movie with massive alligators, it is a ridicules premise, but it did the best with what it had and I can appreciate that. And enjoy it.

   The movie follows Haley (played by Kaya Scodelario) who is a professional swimmer. She is always trying to improve and has a very strained relationship with her father who was her coach when she was young. Haley's sister calls her and tells her that a level 5 hurricane is coming her way and that she should leave the state. However, Haley is worried about her father in this situation. She calls him, but he doesn't pick up so against government regulation she goes to his house to find it empty with only his dog there. Together with the dog she goes to the house where she grew up, a house that should be sold now that her parents are getting a divorce. She knows that he is there because his truck is parked outside.

   Haley searches the house, but can't find her father. Eventually she goes to the basement and finds a crawling space under the house that is starting to get flooded. She swims inside the space to the other dry part under the house and finds her father wounded and unconscious. When she tries to get him out she finds a giant alligator in the water. Now she must a way to survive and get her father out as the water level counties to rise from the storm.

   Kaya Scodelario carries this entire movie. Maze Runner should have made her famous, but that didn't really happen and we don't really see her on the big screen and this movie shows that it is really too bad. She's a great actress, without her, this movie is in the danger of being ridicule, but she carries it with dignity.

   I am not saying that this movie is a masterpiece. I am just saying that it is more on the side of fun and entertaining rather than ridicules like it sounds. But it definitely has ridicules moments along with very suspenseful moments. If you're looking for something fun to watch to pass the time, and not think about five minutes later, this is the movie for you.

   Ֆիլմում կա շատ հարմար և դինամիկ գործողություն, ուստի հեռուստադիտողը անընդհատ ներգրավված է կատարվածի մեջ և գտնվում է կասեցման մեջ: Ժամանակի մեկուկես ժամն աննկատ թռավ, և հերոսուհիների պայքարը ալիգատորների դեմ դիտելը հաճույք է: Դեպի ժապավենը լավ ձևով հիշեցնում է «Այլմոլորակային», «Ծնոտներ» և մասամբ խառնուրդը: Ի վերջո, կա նույնքան արյուն «միս»: Եվ շնաձկների, այլմոլորակայինների կամ դինոզավրերի փոխարեն կան ալիգատորներ, որոնք վախեցնում են անսպասելի երևույթներից, ինչպես նաև մեծապես բարդացնում են հերոսի գոյատևման պայմանները:

   Hello guys, so i am going to be giving a review of one amazing movie which i would say for sure gave the audience the worth of their money, it sure gave me mine lol. Crawl is an intensed movie that comes with a package of both horror and disaster content with a run time of 1hr 27mins. The movie is directed by Alexandre Aja, the director of PIRANHA 3D and written by Michael and Shawn Rasmussen. It starred great actors like kaya Scodelario (as Carina Smyth in Pirates of the Caribbean- Dead men tell no tales), Barry Pepper (as Vince in Maze Runner- The Death Cure), Ross Anderson, Anson Boon, Mortfydd Clark, George Somner amongst others.

   Haley Keller receives a disturbing call from her sister Beth informing her that a category 5 hurricane is going to hit Florida asking her to leave the state. But instead of her getting out of state she went in search of her father Dave Keller who is unreachable at the time. Getting to their old home only for the horror to unfold as she finds her father wounded and trapped in a crawl space under their old home surrounded by giant alligators.

   The choice of the cast was a great one, Kaya Scodelario acting was extraordinary, i mean she got me glued to the screen. Barry Pepper and kaya Scodelario did a good job playing a tough father who finds it hard moving on and a angry daughter but still found a way to put all that aside in trying to survive. The movie did an amazing job with building suspense, there were lots of risky moves as Haley and her father tried escaping the jaws of the alligators, the hurricane and at the same time tending to their wound. There was also a diversion where a group of looters were trying to leave after a robbery thanks to the chaos. It was however terrifying in some scenes where the alligators swallowed the rescue team that came to the aid of Haley and Dave, i tell you it was so intense like BAM!!! It just chopped them off before they knew it.

   The special effects in the movie was impressive, the underwater shot was on point and even with all the terrifying scenes one can not just help but cheer for their survival. It's one movie you do not just want to miss. It is worth the time.
